  1. I was wondering if anyone has tried to play with a gamepad/360 controller. My wrist gets sore after extended play/work periods and sometimes I want to let it rest and still play, so I switch to a controller. I was thinking of using joy2key to try it with EnB and using this setup. Use the left stick for pointing the ship with the left trigger for thrust. Use the right stick to control the mouse, and use the right trigger buttons for mouse clicks. I could then use the face buttons for the number keys while using some other key as a shift modifier to let the face buttons do two actions each. I could still use the "mouse" to click the higher numbered buttons. Anyone think this could work? Am I forgetting important buttons? (Map on the Start button maybe) Anyone have any advice on this perhaps? Thank you all for reading.
  2. I'm sorry if this is the wrong place, but I didn't see an off-topic board here and I wanted to ask the knowledgable people here. The combat and flying in EnB don't seem to be all that exciting so far, but I like going out and mining and trading about. I have not gotten to a high level yet (under 30), so perhaps my impressions of combat and flying are not a complete picture. Does anyone know if there are any other space games like Earth and Beyond that are sort of casual and still have the various activities one might find in EnB, but have a slightly more action oriented bent to them? I have Freelancer, but everything that isn't combat in that game feels kind of hollow to me. I have thought of playing Eve a dozen times, but that seems like it is even less action oriented. I think by action I am trying to describe a slightly more "twitchy" experience. Any suggestions would be appreciated. It might be that the experience that I am looking for just doesn't exist yet too.
  3. Being fairly new to the EMU I wanted to know if there was any kind of consensus on the smart move for a Scout when it comes to weapon selection. Are Beams better because you can't make your own ammo as a Scout, or are missile weapons just plain stronger? I imagine with the Scout's speed that one could kite like a pro with the longer range on missiles, but not being able to make your own ammo seems like a killer.
  4. Farscape is pure awesome. Watch it. That is all.
  5. I started a new topic because the last one like this is over a year old. Which is worse, thread necromancy or rehashing an old post? Anyway, I'm new to this incarnation of EnB, and I honestly only played the beta of Live. I read a JE guide from live that someone had posted a link to. In it the author wrote that getting engines past level 7 or navigation past 5 was not worth it because the ship would not go faster than 5000 warp. Is this still true? Is this only a limitation for the JE? How does the Scout's higher potential engine level stack up? Is it not worth it to keep getting better engines because the warp and thrust speeds are capped? When it comes to reactor energy the Terran ships are the worst right? Does the lower reactor energy hinder the mining capability of the Scout once you are mining lvl 9 stuff? Are the TS skills worth losing wormhole and fold space, or does the extra weapon mount help to even the score there?
  6. I like the sound of the decoy probe ability. The Scout could scoot in, launch a distracting probe, mine an asteroid and then zoom away. To me that sounds sneakish, but very different than cloaking. Or maybe an ability based around Hacking that would confuse all enemy sensors in a radius. That way they aren't cloaking, but enemies are still unable to detect the Scout. That seems very Terran from what I have seen so far. I have to add the caveat to my post that I have just started playing (I hadn't played since E&B beta) and I am only level 10. =]
