Kaiyzer
Heya folks, I'm having quite a bit of trouble with the new machine I've purchased. ((HP p6230v) Running Windows 7 ) I was able to get the game running using the on-board video, which was terrible. I installed a geforce 9800gt, updated drivers etc... Now I can only get to the login screen!! After I enter my username / password and click to enter I get kicked to desktop! Being that I was able to login with the onboard video I'm thinking this is a video card issue for which I have no solution! Any insight would be greatly appreciated! Also, The machine has an ati chipset for it's video, so perhaps I need to scrap the card for a Radeon? Thanks in advance! -KvK
Oldson
Have you tried to run the config utility program yet? It eliminates all kinds of graphic glitches and problems after you run the utility.
Kaiyzer
I ran enb config for the graphics settings... is that what you mean?
tinus
And also run the e&b config as admin in compatability mode, otherwise your changes wont be saved. Helped me when installing on win 7 32 bit. Tinus
orionsfather
Try this: 1. There are 2 configurations. One is the EnB one. The other is the Net-7 one that you can find in: C:\Program Files\EA GAMES\Earth & Beyond\EBCONFIG it is called net-7config.exe. You will need to start them with admin privileges, so right click and you will see the option. 2. Set the net-7 application to Windows XP compatibility mode 32-bit. This is the application that starts the game that is placed on your desktop after you install. If you do these 2 things 99% of your video problems will be fixed along with a host of others you may not yet know about. Hehehe Let us know how it turns out. Kaiyzer
I ran both configs as instructed, yet I still get kicked to desktop after the login screen... very frustrating any other suggestions? I'm thinking of boxing this machine up and getting something else!
Kaiyzer
After going through every executable file within the realm of this project and setting permissions like an SS commander... All is well with the world. For those of you new to Win7 like me, be certain to set the permissions, and not just the security! Win7 seems to be a fickle wench with an unforgiving penchant for revenge against the novice! But once you get to know her.... Thanks for all your help folks! Fly safe! -KvK
