  1. As to the original topic of sorting the vault by level:

This can be done, but it has to be done through slash commands. I'm thinking of something like "/sortvault <sotr_by> <group_by>", so you could sort and group your items as you wish. For instance "/sortvault level category" would group everything by category (i.e. all weapons together, all ores together, etc.) and sort by level within those groups.

    Yes, please!!!!

  2. Agree with the take more part, but not the deliver more part. Making a class that can both take a ton of punishment and be the superior class to dish it out is exactly how you get single class populations. That's completely opposite to what you're trying to say in the first sentence. Who would want to play a TE or a JD if PW's own both in tank and dps roles? Even by modern military standards, "tanks" aren't the dps kings. Bombers are.

I should clarify my point. If you want to not be very mobile, just sit, point and shoot (tank), then a PW is what you want. A TE or a JD should not be able to match a PW dps-wise in this type of combat. It could however be possible that you could achieve a higher dps with a JD or a TE using tactics that require more attention (more movement, more clicks, different skills etc)

  3. I raid a lot with my guild, and we hit all bosses. I am a PW so i love a TT in my group , i'm addicted to their bubbles its true.To do FB and to stay in the mobs faces we get two groups plus together and need 4 healers. I think its great that we need more then a group to do raids, was bored with soloing bosses.

As far as the nerfs go i need to ask this question, Is the motovation to balance classes in DPS? if so i can see one problem . In a raid if a PW can not hold agro and bosses/mobs start in on classes other then PWs with smaller hulls and less HDC things could go south and fast. im talking about TEs and JDs of course. I dont think DPS was balanced in live. i could be wrong tho.

Anyway , just wanted to thank the Dev team for making us need more ppl to do raids . Its way more fun beating the bosses as a team.

I think when they say balance, they are referring to balancing what each class can do and what they have available so that we don't have a server full of just one class and nobody else. There definitely should not be a balance in dps between the classes. PW's should be able to take and deliver more dps than any other class in the game (hence the nickname 'tank class') However a group of all PW's should not be successful in a raid, it should require that a supporting class or two be involved.

  4. That raises a really important point. I had forgotten the incredible power advantage the mighty Progen have over the poor Terran swine... *cough* sorry... What I mean to say is that, much as I hate to say this, the PP may need to have its shield recharging ability frustrated in some way. Really, the PP makes the TT useless in group combat; why have some silly Terran healer when you can have a tank/DPS that heals as well? The only thing the PP is missing right now is a cupholder. :) As much as I love that class (fun as hell to play), it seems like their possession of the shield recharging skill, combined with their excellent Progen combat stats, really hurts the TT's desirability in a raid atm. Disclaimer: I haven't played much recently; Am I wrong?

Shield recharge is nice in a raid situation but definitely not overpowered. Whenever I have been on raids, we like having a TT around for kiting and hull repair purposes. The PP is definitely better in combat than a TT, but that is to be expected. Progen should be better in straight combat compared to a Terran, but I don't believe that makes a TT useless.

  5. Very little sleep over the last few days and fighting a major head cold, so I apologize for the goofiness, but it is less than 36 hours from Christmas, so here is something I put together last night while not being able to get logged in for some reason.

T'was the day near Christmas and all through F7,

Not a creature was stirring, not even Vaden.

The jenquai were mining in gas fields with care,

In hopes that an update soon would be there.

The Terran were nestled all snug in their ships,

While mumblings of credits danced from their lips,

And Hexergirl in her kerchief and Kyp in a beanie,

Wondering why this content push was being such a meanie.

When out on the server there arose such a clatter,

I sprang from my terminal to see what was the matter.

Away to enb-emulator.com I flew like a flash,

Sometimes these crashes are a pain in the a**.

And what to my wondering eyes did appear,

David, and eight tiny developeers; (sorry, had to make it rhyme)

With a little old server, so temperate and quick,

I suggest someone hit it with a stick.

More rapid than eagles his helpers they came.

He whistled and shouted and called them by name:

"Now Tien! Now Byakhee! Now Freak! Now Riia!

On, Kenu! On, Webby! On, Blacklung etc.!

To the top of the server, to the top of it all

Fix away, fix away, fix away all!"

They posted not a word, but went straight to their work,

And squashed all the bugs; then restarted with a jerk,

And laying his finger aside of his nose,

And giving a nod, through the exit David rose.

He sprang to his ship, to his team gave a whistle,

And away they all flew like the down of a thistle.

But I heard him exclaim 'ere he drove out of sight,

"The server is starting and to all an enb night!"

  6. You know when you go to a bar and on the pool table, there is numbered slots for you to put your quarters, to hold your spot, so when the people playing on the table now are done, they know it is your turn. I'm wondering how difficult it would be to set up raids the same way. I have seen a few issues since I turned OL135+ with multiple groups going after GoBB or the Master in the bowl at the same time. Usually not a big deal, whichever group gets the kill usually (stress usually) gets the loot and if there is something that somebody else needs they will leave it out there. But there are occassions where it seems the same people are camping the same raids over and over again. I'm wondering if we can't set up a queue system to handle this issue. Possibly set up an NPC at the various stations near the raid sites, (QAR for the controller, Paramis station for GoBB, Chernevog for the RD base, etc). Maybe attach some cost to starting a raid, each player in the raid group can only do each raid only once a day, or every 12 hours, or whatever the dev's decide is an appropriate time for each raid. A raid leader would go to the NPC and pay their fee or bring some comp or whatever. It would set up like a job, the boss would only spawn when the raid leader's group approaches the area, the boss spawns, the group kills it, loot, give away whatever, give like a 15 minute or 30 minute cooldown time or whatever before another group is able to start another raid. Each person that goes up to the NPC to try to start the raid while one is going will be put into a queue and be told they are 2nd, 3rd, 5th, 19th in line whatever, so they can plan accordingly.

I say any toon that is within a certain distance of where the boss is killed is locked from starting a new raid for a certain period of time, possibly tie it to the accounts, so that the same person couldn't log on an alt and start it again. This might prevent some of the spawn camping. Just an idea, let me know what you think.

  7. Maybe when the game is ready to go Live, more people will play. They don't have to worry as much about the hiccups that go with the testing phase.

I do agree that the fishbowl (all major raids for that matter) should be difficult enough that you need a good mix of classes to beat it, otherwise it would just be mostly PWs, PTs, and TWs, for DPS, a few explorers for JS, and a few TTs.

In raids there should be a need for all the support classes, otherwise there won't be much for them to do at L150+.

Agreed, at the peak times, it seems there are at least 3 groups if not more in the bowl at a time right now, if we made it more raid style again and made it so that it would take possibly two groups including explorers for js and traders for shield recharge to take down the bowl, that would be more ideal. And for the people who like the bowl the way it is now, can we possibly make a portion of Cooper with the fishies that drop possibly just comps (not the big stuff like weapons, shields, engines, etc) but stuff that may require a single small group to survive, and leave the rarer stuff for inside the bowl.

  8. Click your scroll wheel. (sometimes referred to as center mouse button) ;)

I'll see if we can specify the target of the link on the forums, I don't think IPB lets us do that.

Forgot about that little trick. I grew up on a mouse that had no center wheel, so I hardly use it for anything other than scrolling up and down a long page. Actually I grew up before there was a mouse, or Windows, there was just Oregon Trail, and we were grateful for it.

  9. I think I've heard of people getting this error if they didn't do the patch or it didn't patch correctly.

Edit: Also make sure you are doing both the client and the config run as administrator. I believe I also had to change both of mine to run in compatibility with windows xp (using Win7 64 bit) to make it work.

  10. Would be nice if when you clicked on the N7 Portal link on the forum, that N7 open in a new window, much the way that if you access the forums from N7 Portal the forums open in a new window.

I have become so accustom to right-click and select open in new tab that I don't even notice the difference anymore, but yes, it would be nice to have it done automatically.

  11. I would suggest that...

    a. There's absolutely no requirement for you to be able to map/build the gun as there's already PLENTY of folks that can do it.

    b. If you're looking for the ammo to map, you could also try hitting the market.

    c. The BB is from content that shouldn't even be in game. I would think that most Progens that *want* to use this gun, would deal with the difficulty in getting when the mobs that drop aren't in game yet.

And lastly, as a point of personal opinion, the BB isn't really a good gun in group situations. It's dps is merely on par with other guns with much cheaper ammo costs (say, the Bile weps) and it's ammo consumption per hour is higher as well, so you need to carry more ammo. The only really good thing about the BB is when you're solo and need that extra reactor cap + shield recharge buff. But as an end-game group weapon, it's quite meh...

I agree with these statements and while it is rare that there wouldn't be a builder on that can build the weapon, I still would like to be able to build it myself. The looted ammo can be found in market but its rare (especially the plasma and chem). There was somebody on yesterday who spent a couple hours trying to find those ammo samples. In hindsight I would guess Byakhee possibly regrets using the BB as the reward considering that it doesn't drop anywhere else, but the fact remains that this gun is in the game now, regardless of how it got there, so there will be those people who feel slighted because they don't have the gun mapped.

I'm more bothered about the fact that I'm having difficulties just getting the mission itself rather the end-reward. To be honest I already have a BB gun 200% built by someone else so like you mentioned, I use it when I solo and when I go into the FB or cooper or whatever in group, I switch it out with one of my bile cannons.

  12. Well, Matt just be happy you can do it all. Apparently my mission tree is so messed up, I can repeat none of the missions. Even with GM assistance, I wasn't even able to pick up the Capture the Cargo mission again. I get default Var no matter how many BPOMT I have (currently have 6). My JE has been running a couple hours a day for the last couple weeks in the gas fields in Glenn, I'm close to another set of 300 of each of 9's hoping that possibly when I'm ready some divine intervention will allow me to try the mission again and hopefully get a better result than 1 out of 4 on the mappings (only got the impact ammo mapped last time).

  13. Just checked it at 1134am EST and same error message. Seems to occur for items that shouldn't be in game (i.e., no mobs yet) as well as items that are in game.

I tried, Hellfire Ballista, Dung Cannon, Eye of Zethren-Ti, Devastating Gaze, Excellent ML Type A, and all got the error.

I cleared my temp internet files, deleted all browsing history, cookies, cache, etc and I get the same error. Repeatable in IE8, Opera and firefox.

  14. Well,

Which mob drops the item has been removed from the Item info page... This is 100% true and acurate.

There are also other searches that can be performed on the database!

Do you know the name of the mob?

    </transmission>

I'm not sure if this is a bug, did a mob search on lvl 50 Wandering Pirate and the DB lists them as having no loot, however there are several items that this mob drops.

Interesting thing, do a search for brimstone impact ammo and there are two mobs listed in the drop section, but then do a mob search for either of those two and neither of them will show up.

  15. For those of us that never made it to the FB in live, can somebody give a run-through of what it used to be like? From what I'm hearing, you didn't used to gate into the FB you were sucked into it, and then you had to battle through the boss fishies, in order, before you even got to the Master? And when you were done, there was no gate to get back out?

Raiding is completely new to me, only made it to the high 60's in live, I've been in the FB a few times, but as it is now, its not a raid, its just an area where its better to be in a group.
