It's also good to use a crazy high-signature engine/devices, so that mobs will shoot at you instead of the n00bs, assuming you can handle them.
-
Ok, server's coming back up.
-
Ha, I knew there were too many people on the forums. Just a second...
-
The current actual totals are:
scrap/Traint - 26
iamme -------- 3
Hatu -------- 18
Wolffishfang - 6 -

The Armored Solar Sail is no longer an engine, its a device. The 420 warp speed you have is likely from a device (200% RR+ maybe?), and the Solar Sail is not providing any. You must have had it equipped in your engine slot before it was changed to a device. So right now you dont actually have an engine equipped.

Now that's interesting. -
Wait.. Warp speed? It's 420? We're not talking about thrust speed right?

You can change EnB's display settings by running the "E&BConfig.exe" tool. If you installed EnB to the default directory, it should be in "C:\Program Files (x86)\EA GAMES\Earth & Beyond\EBCONFIG". If you're running a 32-bit operating system, remove the "(x86)". After changing settings in the config tool, be sure to click "Performance Test"; for some reason the tool doesn't like to save settings otherwise.

The players online page is stuck at 12/12 22:55
Thanks for pointing this out; it should be fixed now. Also, holy crap you have a lot of avatars! -
Blacklung, please export these avatars when you come across them and post them somewhere in the GM discussion or development areas so we can try to find out what it causing the problem. Thanks.
-
This happens when you run one thing in as an administrator and not the other, because they will look to different user profiles for data. I would recommend setting C:\Program Files (x86)\EA GAMES\Earth & Beyond\release\client.exe to run as an Administrator as well as the E&BConfig tool.

Try logging into a different character or a different account if you have one. Also, it may help to restart your computer.

Just an idea but perhaps we could just start a new thread/vote were everyone just posts the name of the person that has their vote?
That way you can see the name of each voter and the IP thing will not be an issue.
The polling system actually includes a feature where you can show who votes for whom, but I think a secret ballot system is best.
Note:
This thread is about electing a new community advocate; if your comment has nothing to do with that, post it in General somewhere. -
You may be missing some DirectX files that aren't necessary used by modern games. Try installing DirectX again to ensure you have all the files: http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?id=35
Assuming you're running Windows 7, if that doesn't help, try running the Character and Starship Creator in compatibility mode by right-click on the program or shortcut, selecting "Properties", switching to the "Compatibility" tab, checking the "Run in compatibility mode for" checkbox and selecting "Windows XP (SP3)" from the drop-down box. -

With a community like enb hiding things doesn't work. Ask where to find anything and you usually get an answer in under 5 minutes 99% of the time.
Even in live you could ask, and usually get an answer through a pm usually not broadcast like it is alot of times now.
If I know where something drops I will usually pm the person asking just so they know and do not create a mad dash to grab it.
If the devs don't believe me create a new non dev labeled toon, log in and ask yourself. So hiding drops is kind of a mute point imo.
We know. That's the point. There's no reason to present all the data when the community already collects it naturally. If the whole raw database were available EnB would be less of a game and more of a tedious activity, receiving orders from a spreadsheet. -

I do have a question though, my roommate also plays the game (though I'm not sure he has enough posts to vote or not) if he happens to vote for the same person I did would that be seen in the database as me voting twice? We do have separate accounts and his is not linked to my email or forum account.

I was wondering the same thing, as there are multiple accounts and multiple players in my household, sometimes on the same computer.
That's a valid point that I honestly forgot to consider. People on the same connection may or may not appear to be one person voting multiple times. I will make sure to be very careful in the future to ensure no one gets punished for legitimate activity. I'm also hoping this just won't be an issue again, now that everyone knows we can see when this happens. Also, I should note that the multi-votes I deleted earlier were without doubt intentional, as two of the offenders used the same name essentially (e.g. CDel and CDel2) and the other person voted four times from the same IP in the course of several minutes, which is a red flag for something fishy going on. -

Well we can get there half way - send the 'smash' emote, then a suitable 'spank' sound, followed by a little squeal or the tada-o weird laugh hehe }:-> leave the rest to the imagination.
lol yeah a 'save christmas' event.

Yes, and yes. -
ANOTHER IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT
Ok, so... Do NOT try to double vote. From here on out, those who vote more than once will not only be giving up their right to vote, but also possibly jeopardizing the candidacy of whomever they vote for. While checking the database, I found that two people had double-voted, and one had quadruple-voted. This time, I removed only the redundant votes - next time, warnings and probations are getting doled out and anyone who multi-votes is getting their voting privileges suspended.
Due to the multi-voting and because of the vote caching system, the current numbers are not correct. The vote totals are as follows:
scrap/Traint 20
iamme 2
Hatu 13
Wolffishfang 4
In summation: I am so seriously you guys: don't try to game the system! -

how about something like this:
http://www.indiegogo.com/
lots of people do this to fund there projects, all based on non profit.
ie making a movie for fans/indie games (free) etc etc
I do really like the look of that. It's iffy whether we can offer in-game perks or not though, as it may open us up to IP lawsuits from EA. -
Would it be illegal to sell N7 T-shirts? I'd like to see EA bring a suit about that, considering N7 happens also to be an aspect of Mass Effect lore. I would definitely buy me an N7 mug too.
-
Ha, you can vote for both. Excellent either/or poll.
I vote for a complete wipe of everything, including the source code. Maybe the server will be better the second time around. See you all for stress test 1 in 2014! -

And ... a special spanking emote for use on stations on NPC's who've been naughty too ... I think dewinter deserves that as she's been a very bad girl and must be punished.
Oh, if only that could be done in the ini's. Of course, all it would really take would be reverse-engineering the W3D format, creating a new animation, then modifying the client in disassembly to add the new option - if I start now and drop out of school I bet I could have it done by April. It would be pretty awesome though... *ponders dropping out* -
no shooting old nick this year to see what he drops eh? I think last year he lasted about 10 minutes before he was taken out and we had to supersize his shields and snowball launcher.
I think he should just drop a lump of coal anyway!
We could do a coal launcher. I had fun doing the snowball launcher effects last year, I wouldn't mind rigging up some kind of black rock-like projectile; I'm sure there's something in the client that could be used. Also, it would have to hit the ship with the satisfying clunk of rock hitting metal. That would teach people to messeth not with Santa Claus.- 2

Yeah, I think the holiday items should work all the time. They don't hurt anything, they're just fun.
I have to agree with Mimir about the rules though, that's all too complicated and not worth the coding time. My vote is for all-punkin-chunkin, all the time.
