Server restart fixed me up, working OK now.

My character JarodPW is stuck/blackholed in Xipe Totec. I can login other characters on that account but any attempt to login JarodPW just hangs on the screen - the Net7 Proxy widget indicates the status as "waiting for server". FWIW my ISP connection crashed around 3 PM Central (US) while I was playing that char and now I can't use him. Thank you for any assistance that can be provided in making this char playable again.

One way I can think of is make it so that mapping is part of the mission until you get the map it is not complete and if you do happen to fail you can buy another until you get the map.

Excellent idea! -

How about pop rocks up to level 4 will only cause shield damage, and their intensity is capped according to level.
From 5-7, they can actually cause hull damage.
From 8-9, they can be lethal.
I wouldn't want to see any change that introduces the chance of insta-death. If increased lethality is the goal, fine, but instead of just having the rock explode and kill the player instead spawn a high level mob. This gives the player the chance to fight or flee (or at least try). -

Political discussion channel. To debate whether Obama is truly an American (I believe he was born in Kenia).

I can't locate this Kenia on the map - can you help me find it? Thanks. -

One way to get people to clear the fields would be to hide the identity of the hulks contents until it has been mined. Open a hulk and all you see is ship remains until you mine it. Once it's in your hold, it's true identity is revealed. Somewhat along the lines of ancient artifacts, but you don't need to take the stuff to an NPC.
When I go hulking I empty out each hulk completely, pulling in stuff I know to be crap. If I start getting tight on cargo space I will eject the lower level items to be able to pull in the higher level items. If I don't know what it is in the hulk then I don't know if it's worth spacing what I already have. Not in favor of this change. -

Sorry Jarod, didn't know it came up before... Asked and Answered? If so, please redirect this post to the other and we will close the discussion.
Sorry!
Oh no, I'm not a mod, just pointing to the thread where the topic has been fairly well discussed (IMO). That's not to say that new ideas can't be added - perhaps a MOD can merge this with the thread I linked to? -

ok thanks! that is what I needed to know. hopefully everything is working right now

As others mentioned you need to make sure you update the specific sig in question - however, even after doing so sometimes the previous image might remain in your browser's cache. In these cases force the browser to refresh (typically the F5 key) and you should see the updated image. -

I have seen people in game with names like "BullDog" or "LaaLaa" (not their real names, just examples). How do they get the middle letter to be capitalized like that?
I've wondered the same thing. -

ok i fixed it. Thanks for the answers.
I must have had a brain fart or something until i realised the authentication port is mentioned in the launcher (443)
I opened it up and was up and running immediately.
443 is the standard https port so closing that really cuts you off from a lot of things, much more than just EnB Emu login server. -

Yes, I forgot to mention that this would also probably imply the need to be able to see what the sell price will be when you purchase the item. In the tooltip it would probably have to say, "Station X is paying Y credits for this good" or something like that.
Yes, but even with this you are still humping to a starting station to even find out whether that trade run is (currently) paying top dollar. Without some manner of viewing the current status of the various trade routes that does not require the player to actually spend the time to go to the terminal it's still a lot of trial and error. And that takes time. And that time is the primary factor in the equation - how much XP is being earned per unit of time? When the additional time to hop around to various stations *in search* of the optimal trade route is factored in, the XP/time ratio is (probably) diluted to the point that it's just better to take the old standby's. -
Why does that sound like a line from Starship troopers (the first one)lol...
I'm thinking Colonel Steve Austin. -
If there was some way that the sell prices of the various goods at the receiving stations were published I would like this. Absent that it sounds like a lot of trial and error chasing where the hot routes are. As much as Eve bored me to tears I was always very impressed by the dynamic market capabilities they incorporated and the sophisticated ways the market data was made available. In some alternate reality where there would be an Earth and Beyond II (or even III) I'd imagine that type of functionality would have been a big part of the game.

Im in the USA and it took less then 48hrs to setup my bank account and my donation was in.
Yeah, I didn't understand this either. I already had a PayPal account and each of my donations have gone through quickly and with no problem. There was a glitch for a bit about the forum not reflecting the PP donations correctly (and honestly have no idea where the issue was) but that's since been corrected. -

You don't need to select a new background, you can select the same background that you are currently using. -

I didn't spend too much time doing jobs in live, but as far as I can remember, most of the time was spent doing the jobs, not waiting for the terminals to refresh. I don't remember there being much competition for jobs, but that might have been because I live in europe and or prime times used to be a bit less busy than in the US if memory serves mer right.
I'm all for lowering XP and increasing the amount of jobs. It helps even out the rate at which you can level at different times of day...
I haven't done more than one round of jobs in the EMU though, since I didn't think the reward was good enough. At the level I'm at, it feels like I get more XP from traderuns, tours and prospecting....
The combo of your location and playing pattern must have created a real sweet spot for you with regard to Jobs, then. I can assure you that over here in the States, during Live, one needed Quake-like clickyness to try and get Jobs from the term. It was pretty common to watch the jobs list update and then be picked clean in seconds like an amazon deer that had wandered into a piranha infested river. If the moment of refresh was one that the player had decided to squander on, say, typing a message into chat then that player was doomed to wait, jobless, for the next refresh. -
Tien-
Would it be too stressfull on the server to up the amount of Jobs at each Terminal or Decrease the re-spawn on the jobs?
I just started doing jobs and its very clear to me and everyone else who standing at the Job Terminal with me that there just dont seem to be enough jobs to go around. 2-4 people end up in a mouse clicking war over the 4-5 jobs that pop up every 4-5 mins.
But the click wars are the most fun part of jobs! -

I registered with the forums and launch net 7. Why does the game keep telling me I haven't completed registration? I registered with both things I was supposed to. I'm not seeing anything else I need to do. Can anyone explain this to me?
Can you please be a bit more specific as to what "I registered with both things" means? It would be helpful to name the domains, whether you received confirmation emails from each, whether you clicked the confirmation link in those emails and successfully confirmed, . . .
There's a number of places where the process can go off the rails. -

I think it's a ridiculous argument either way with any donation or profit, mmorpg's must be maintained. I seen a website that host millions of videos where as I can watch or view them for free no need to sign up. They still encourage you to donate. So far this site was taken to court for copyright infringement once by a foreign country named Malaysia. Malaysia lost it's case and the website won. They won due to them not making profit off of the site, but by using donations for the maintenance of it and possible the "fair use" act.
It's nice idea if they could market something that pertains to the Net-7 team and not EA's game entirely.
If a musicians can get away with changing one note in an entire song, that was already produce by another musicians. Then whats stopping the think tanks from selling merchandise that shows devotion and inspiration from the Net-7 team?
It's difficult to follow just what you are saying but it appears that you are suggesting that because there's a *chance* that Net-7 could win in court against an infringement suit that it's worth it to conduct activities that might bring on such a suit. Understand - winning in court requires GOING to court. Going to court costs money - and typically the cost is directly proportional to the size of the opposing entity. EA is huge, Net-7 is small. If you follow the donation tracker you will see it's touch and go each month to make the amount required to pay all the costs - which is less than the fees any good attorney would require just to retain their services for such a case, let alone the actual billings that would later come.
If taking discontinued games, writing EMU's for them, and then profiting on them was such a sound business idea - why is it you don't see anyone else doing it? -

Jarod,
You've hit upon an important point. People used a system like this in FFXI to save hundreds of items beyond their space limits to great success. Chances are there'd be guild vaults before something like this. Does everyone just simply distrust everyone else to the point that they can't transfer your items? Did I miss something about guild camaraderie in recent years?
I don't get it either, Kyp. Most of my chars "hang out" in F7 and if somebody posts in local chat they need help with a xfer I'm usually typing "I can help" but someone else usually beats me to the punch - and that's for non-guildies. I acknowledge that with (what I believe to be) a predominantly US player base right now there may be differences during "non-prime" (for US) time periods that might make it more difficult to get help with xfers - that's the only thing I could figure might be a factor. -
Not quite. I am sure some type of system could be set up so that things didn't just sit there forever. That and the way I worded it, when you go to pick up at the NPC you don't get to pick and choose what you get, you get everything they have for you, all at once. If you don't have empty cargo space for it, it would go poof.
I don't see what would stop one from accepting the mass xfer, saving off the items one wants, then re-engaging the NPC to re-store the remainder. Heck my PW would begin to use this as his primary ammo vault as each time I'd come back I'd be out of ammo and have lots of space to accept it.
As to things going poof - I don't have any problem with it - but given the hue and cry in another thread clamoring to have the dev's craft a way to allow players to get back items they mistakenly sold to NPC's . . . I'd think the dev's would have enough foresight to see that this just sets them up for more complaints about "I lost my stuff!". -
OK, now you've really just described expanded vault space - with apparently no limit.

A date will come out but bear in mind it's very difficult to work to timelines when all of us do work on the project on an ad-hoc basis.
Just do what we do where I work - have more Project Managers than actual technical "do-ers" so they can keep meticulously detailed records of all actions, and inactions, without actually dong anything. They take that data and then mark every project as either green, yelllow, or red because management can't read text but, apparently, can respond to color codes. I swear we accomplish less than half of what we used to do but spend 10 times as much time doing it - thank you ITSM!
