  1. Afterburn will not be a passive, but I can't make it too incredibly powerful of a speed burst, the player base has already shown me that they can make the scout boogie even before I've got that skill in. :)

Of course part of Afterburn will also be a raise in sig of, oh, 100% for 20 seconds each use? ;)

Hey, you can't hit that nitrous button without making some noise!

  2. Ugh. What an ugly topic.

My suggestion: make both macros and dual-boxing something that you need to register with a GM, and the GM--if you're disrupting others' gameplay--can ask you to move or log you off. Ban those who do not register with the GM. :)

Probably even better if we just require everyone to play with a GM at their side. At login you would be held in a starting base or sector, your name would go in a queue, and then eventually when a GM was available you would be released to go out and play. Obviously if there was a GM:Player ratio shortage your gameplay time would also need to have certain severe limits on it so that others could get their gameplay time.

Hey, if we limit it so that there could never be more than one player active in the game then we would be sure that nobody was getting "advantages" over other players! Problem, whatever that problem is, solved.

  3. lol.... Yea... we miners are greedy, arn't we. lol. Yes, there are some good spots, I've got some favorites that have no mobs around as well, I'd recommend flying all over, they are in some spots that you would never think of. I like the hunt, it's kind of exciting to find a new spot.

Kinda makes me wish i wasn't working right now, so I can be mining! :P (I'm a mining addict...)

Yup, yup . . . could be that's why they called the class "Explorer"?

    :)

  4. Your right, life is unfair. But that doesn't mean games should be too,

You know, you're right. Come to think of it, what about people that have better computers than you? Faster processors, better vidcards, better ISP connections? We know that ppl with bad ISP conn's are more likely to CTD/GTD - simply unfair. I demand that we put a cap on all PC equipment and ISP connections and require everyone to play down to the lowest common denominator - anything else is "unfair". What about those people that have more free time than others? They are able to spend more time in-game and get "advantages" over other players with less free time (or RL's). Also unfair! We need a cap on maximum time in-game/per day to level the playing field!

Ohhh, and don't get me started on those people that are . . . young! I hear they can read the default text color in General and never have to fiddle with the /setcolor command - that's really unfair.

  5. As an aside, are there any places currently to mine decent quantities of level 9 ore? The most I've seen so far is one or two level 9 minerals surrounded by level 6-8 asteroids, and I've travelled almost everywhere. Were the level 9 ores this rare in Live?

Almost as rare as getting miners to share where there (secret) favorite mining "holes" were, once they'd found them.

    :P

  6. Zizzy is my wife. We tried my account on both of our computers and my account logs in just fine. When we try to log in her "Zizzy" account it still says the information is wrong. We tried the forced update as well and it still doesn't work. we also tried changing her password. I'm just wondering if we just have to wait until an admin gives her account some sort of permission to play. Any help would be appreciated, I really want to get her online with me. Thanks :P

We are using the names and passwords we used to register with this site.

Q - did "Zizzy" register for the Stress Test and receive an email to confirm? Separate and distinct registration from these fora, common problem.

  7. Try to level past 100 when you gain normal exp again. And do it without touring.

Your analogy regarding doorlocks and stealing is not correct.

If all doors were impenetrable and there was 0% risk of stealing, then nobody would be caught stealing since it would be unheard of. No policing would be required and those resources could be used elsewhere.

But, of course, that's not what I said. Your original post was claiming that we needed to make game changes to avoid having to ban people for macro'ing - cheating. My reply merely pointed out that having to change things to help dishonest people avoid getting caught being dishonest . . . is dumb. Cheaters, thieves, . . . whatever scum you want - it's in their nature. If you want gameplay changes, make the case how it improves the gameplay. If you want to protect dirtbags . . . be a lawyer, it pays better.

  8. Dual boxing is one thing when you have to pay for the extra account, its something totally different when the game is free. Having to pay for extra accounts limits the usage with most people only having 1 extra account.

Reality check - currently this is an Alpha *Stress* Test - having more active characters in game interacting with each other is *good*. If people have the available resources to have multiple chars going that helps with the *test*.

  9. I think not allowing macros right now is important. We're stress testing the server and how much stress testing can you do if everyone is macroing the same trade route over and over?

How will we find bugs with many players not actually playing nor paying attention to their screen?

Another issue is establishing a precedent. Since right now our economy is not very set up and not all our work is polished, we might have considered not having a rule against macros, but in the future I am sure we would want to outlaw macros. If we allowed macros now it would be harder to make a rule against them in the future. By harder I mean there would be more outrage since people grew used to them.

To be clear, I'm not advocating macro'ing or permission of it. If the resources exist to police it then by all means I'm for that. I do wonder, though, about the actual, real, usage - I've yet to encounter any char that appeared to be macro'ing. That's not saying that somebody isn't but I think the answer is going to be somewhere between "everyone is macroing" and zero and my hunch is the slider bar is going to be a lot closer to the zero side.

  10. At the moment mobs are so incredibly retarded, and it takes so outragiously long to level, that I can imagine people are insulted by this and resort to macro-ing.

Whoa, "outragiously (sic) long to level"?? What game are you playing? With the XP boosts leveling is much quicker than it was in Live.

I also don't buy making changes to "prevent players from being banned for macro'ing". That's like saying we'll make better doorlocks to prevent people from being arrested for stealing. People do wrong things they should expect to answer for them. If you want gameplay changes, fine, make your case about how they would improve gameplay - but to say it's to protect *cheaters* from themselves, well, you just lose me there.

But, like TB said, there's much bigger fish to fry ATM. If ppl are macro'ing and not getting caught, well, so be it - why anybody does it is beyond me but I guess that's because I'm not a cheater.

  11. I look forward to amassing enough Manticore's Nettles to wallpaper my house . . . just like in Live.

    j/k

That's great news that we can look forward to real drops in the hulks. I agree that spotting a hulk while out mining always was a quick pick-me-up even if it ended up a dud - it was the anticipation of the unknown that made it fun.

  12. What "Dave and a couple others" couldn't have told you is that the server would have some major problems, all forum accounts were deleted and/or lost, and for a few days the emulator portal wasn't even up. https://enb-emulator.com/index.php?/forum-5/announcement-1-server-crash/ As far as the "site sticks in IE8" I can't help you, I haven't used Internet Exploder for a few years with the sole exception of using it to browse to Mozilla's page to download and install Firefox on a new machine, sorry.

Quite frankly, if anything we should be disappointed with you, for getting so *&^%$y when no-one answered your first post right away. People have lives outside of the forums that need to be attended to.

    +1

  13. cool, thanks alot!

anyone have opinion on PW building all their own ammo...

seems like a drain of skill points, but save on credits.

    any firsthand knowledge?

I don't know about the save on credits aspect. Are you comparing PW-built vs. storebought? After a certain point the PW is going to strongly prefer PM ammo to storebought - so at that point they are either building it themselves or having someone else build it for them.

If the PW belongs to a guild it's usually not too hard to find a guildmate that will help you out and build the ammo, otherwise - time permitting - Market channel will typically find a builder.

For maximum flexibility, yes, having the PW with the build skill to craft their own ammo is the bees knees. As you point out, though, that's a lot of skill points to sink into build weps - and it's tough for a PW to price-compete against a player with high-level Negotiate. So you have to decide whether you think you'll have access to builders to maintain a steady supply of ammo (cuz we know PW's burn through that fast) and if you're OK with going store-bought for those times you can't get hooked up - keep the skill points.

My primary is a TT with max weps build so I can build all my PW's stuff, but I still made the modest investment of skill pts to get Build Weps lvl 3 for my PW for convenience in the early stages.

  14. As long as something isn't "Jenquai restricted" then a Jenquai can build it (I have to admit I'm not sure about "Progen Only" or "Terran Only") and vice versa

Yes, Race "A" can make items that are "Race B Only" or "Race C Only" - it's the "Race A Restricted" tag that makes things non-manu for them. (A, B, and C being used to represent generics for any of the 3 races here).
