  1. Oops, I already submitted the ticket. Sorry about that - don't know how I missed the "Bug Tracker" tab! LOL. Should I see if I can cancel the ticket and create it in the bug tracker instead?
  2. Oh right. I thought this, "Technical Support" forum was the right place. I see a link at the top titled, "GM Ticket System". Is that what you are referring to? I'll go open a ticket now then I guess and point them to this thread. When I have the solution, I will post back here in case someone else gets the same problem as me in future.
  3. Yeah, McAfee blows - even the UI is not very intuitive. Anyway, it's totally removed now, as I said. Also, I added the exclusion to Windows Defender now and still the same crap.. so I don't know what's going on here. Is there any other data logged somewhere that I can paste here which might help you guys figure out what the problem is?
  4. I had already disabled the anti-virus and that didn't work. So now I decided to just remove it completely (as this new laptop came with McAfee and I don't like it anyway). It's still the same issue happening.
  5. Hi Woodstock, I appreciate the response, but that exe is exactly the one my original post was about... when I run it (as admin), it appears for about a half a second and then disappears. When I open the Event Viewer, I can see the error message that I pasted above in the original post.
  6. Thanks for the response. However, I cannot find any such .exe in the Net-7 installation directory (or any sub-directories), which for me is as follows: C:\Program Files (x86)\Net-7
  7. Hi Guys, A couple of months ago I requested some help, here: It was answered and closed rather rudely. I couldn't figure out what to do at the time and got busy, so just ignored it. I am again trying to get back into ENB and this time from a new laptop.. but I have the exact same problem. Regarding the issue with E&BConfig, I searched your forums and found that I should set Compatibility Mode to "Windows XP SP3" and have done so. I then run it in admin mode as well. What happens is that it shows up for about a half a second and then disappears. When I look at the Event Viewer, I see this error: Faulting application name: E&BConfig.exe, version: 1.0.0.3, time stamp: 0x3d754f52 Faulting module name: E&BConfig.exe, version: 1.0.0.3, time stamp: 0x3d754f52 Exception code: 0xc0000005 Fault offset: 0x00120b58 Faulting process id: 0x2390 Faulting application start time: 0x01d3792a1fb9032d Faulting application path: C:\Program Files (x86)\EA GAMES\Earth & Beyond\EBCONFIG\E&BConfig.exe Faulting module path: C:\Program Files (x86)\EA GAMES\Earth & Beyond\EBCONFIG\E&BConfig.exe Report Id: 714d47d6-2ed5-45ad-bd14-dec7f5eb816b Faulting package full name: Faulting package-relative application ID: Luckily the main problem is gone now - I can login without any issue... but the game window is too small and I need E&BConfig to work to change the settings. Any help would be most appreciated. Please don't just close the issue again without first checking that it has been solved. Thanks.
  8. Hi all, I have been gone for a long time and now trying to get back into the game. I installed everything, but I have a couple of issues: 1. When clicking the "Play" button from the Net-7 launcher, I get this error: "Server Failed to respond to Login attempt" 2. I can't bring up the E&B Config tool - either from the Net-7 launcher's Tools menu or even directly from C:\Program Files (x86)\EA GAMES\Earth & Beyond\EBCONFIG\E&BConfig.exe. Even when I run that as Administrator, nothing happens... well, the mouse cursor shows it's loading for a few moments and then goes back to normal with nothing else happening. I did disable my anti-virus (AVG) in case it was that, but it didn't work. Also note I used the installer I had saved from last year... but I figure there's no issue with that, right? Since it just updated itself to the latest anyway. Is there now some extra step involved that I am unaware or what could be happening here?
  9. Thank you both for your responses. @Flip, you made an interesting point about the chilli popper being better for raids. That is a valid point. However, you're not taking into account people with many toons, some of which we like to change up a bit and not necessarily use for raids. I may or may not wish to use my TS for raids and thus may change my mind.. haven't decided yet.. but that's besides the point, which I am getting to just below: @Ben, thanks for such a lengthy reply. You've also made some valid points; particularly about it setting a precedent for players requesting other items be modified. However, in this case, I think I am still right.. why? Well, one question: how many people will ever choose the White Lightnin' device... ever? Pretty much nobody. In that case, why even bother offering it as a choice? Might as well just make the reward automatically be the chilli popper... lol. No, I say make the White Lightnin' live up to its name and actually be a bit faster than it is.
  10. "The White Lightning is better then the Roadrunner Plus..." - Only if you compare it with the 100% version, which I believe is your point. However, it's not much of an argument, because the RR+ is vendor bought and as such, anyone with build devices skill can go and make a 200% version or ask on the market.. so it's not like we're comparing 2 items that are both difficult to obtain. The RR+ is super easy to obtain, whilst the White Lightnin' takes a lot of effort. As such, I would think the latter would be a little bit better than it currently is. "The White Lightning also doesnt deal with the negativ effect the buildable devices at level 9 suffer from..." - What negative effect? "...I would go through great length of time to point at any explorer class chooseing the Lightning over the Chillie Popper..." - Each to their own, Ben. Just because you would prefer that, doesn't mean everyone must have the same opinion. For me, I would choose the Chilli Popper for my JE (already done) and my PS.. but I would prefer the White Lightnin' for my TS... well, I would if it was better than the 200% RR+, which it isn't... I am not proposing some ludicrous speed increase of 5000k or whatever, but I would suggest making the speed of the White Lightnin' just a little bit more than the 200% RR+.. like maybe 1100? If you don't agree, sure.. no worries. But I for one, think that would be a good idea.
  11. Consider making the white lightnin' device better than the roadrunner plus. After going through such a long mission chain, I would expect the device to be better than it is, but alas, a RR+ coupled with a Unicorn reactor is better for travel (more speed, by almost 100 units). A 200% RR+ gives you an added 995 units of warp speed, whereas the White Lightnin' only 901. Please consider increasing the warp speed of the White Lightnin or at least making it the same as the RR+, because as it is, I think nobody would ever choose the White Lightnin' over the Chilli Popper. I would like the White Lightning for my explorers.. especially my Terran Scout, but looking at the numbers, I'm better off with a 200% RR+ L9 instead..
  12. Well, without further info it's hard to tell whether I'd be interested (or even have the right skillset). Send me a private message with further details and I can let you know whether I'd be up for it or not.
  13. Yes, Matt; it's quite a crappy attitude some people have, so I guess I can understand if the staff get frustrated when some people behave in such a manner... however, it's also not very nice to be on the receiving end of that frustration when you haven't been the one causing the frustration. I never made a single complaint whatsoever, let alone said anything about it taking too long. Anyway, never mind that... I think that bag of popcorn is getting a bit mouldy now... :-D Regarding my development experience, I am a .NET developer (mostly MVC web development). I am not a game developer. So I probably wouldn't be of much use to you guys. But if there is anything you think I might be able to help with, feel free to reach out.. I will let you know if I can help or not.
  14. LOL.. yes indeed.. bring on the popcorn. Anyway, there was obvious misunderstanding here.. while I was talking about X, you guys were talking about Y.. or whatever.. Yes, of course I could see from your (Arthur) first post that it was possible. Here's the comment that started this confusion: "...I was not for even a second pushing for it to be done faster. I wasn't even aware that it was even in the works at all... ... As per my original post, you can see I am asking whether it's even possible to do it at all or not... " I said this because Kyp seemed to think I was trying to hurry you guys up and bitching about why it's taking so long. I was simply pointing out the fact that it's odd for him to extrapolate that from my original post where one could see at that time (before anyone replied) that I didn't even know it was possible... so how come he thinks I'm moaning about it taking so long when I didn't even know it was already on the roadmap? Then the confusion really set in with this response: "Well, a reasoning individual can infer from Arthur's first post that it's possible...." LOL. I think we can all see what's happened there now and lay it to rest. All the best guys. Keep up the good work. :-)
  15. Thank you, Kyp. Very nice response. I've never played any of those games except EVE for a short time. And in fact, I don't generally play any games - especially MMOs.. I'm more of a single-player FPS player.. except for E&B which is just plain awesome. :-) Please don't misunderstand me: I fully get that this is all volunteer work and you don't have many staff. I have no intention of bitching and hurrying you guys up.. that would be a terrible attitude for anyone to have. I was only bringing this to your attention. After all, how can you accommodate the requests of the players if you don't know what those requests are? This forum (Suggestions) is exactly for this kind of thing, right? So that's all I'm doing: letting you know our concerns and suggesting some solutions... and trying to get a discussion going so we can all come to some agreement / some middle ground. Looking forward to see what's coming in future.
  16. My apologies Kyp. I may have misunderstood you... because even now I am not so sure what you are trying to point me to with Arthur's first response. I assumed you were meaning I should have realized you guys were going to implement the contemplation skill and that it is possible. Forgive me if I am being dense, but what exactly is it that I should have seen from his response if you were not referring to the contemplation skill?
  17. Explanation very much appreciated. Thank you.
  18. Thanks Arthur. I've never been on a PRS raid.. so had no clue. Guess I'll just have to hope to catch Blacklung or a GM some time.
  19. Firstly: Ouch, that was a rather subtle and uncalled for jab. Secondly: What you're saying doesn't even make sense anyway: "Well, a reasoning individual can infer from Arthur's first post that it's possible" - You mean his response to my post? How is that an argument? I said this: "As per my original post, you can see I am asking whether it's even possible to do it at all or not" It seems as if you are saying I'm unreasonable for not seeing Arthur's response to my question before I asked the question. Wow.. Have a nice day Kyp.
  20. You mean like Eve? Yes, they like to milk their players big-time in that game. I tried it right after sunset, and I gave up very quickly with that - just a couple of months and I was bored to death. And I've spoken with quite a few players here that feel the same; they don't come here for another Eve.. but for something a lot more fun... which you can sit down to and have fun within minutes. I can understand why Eve make things so hard... because they're milking people for money - they want to keep people hanging around forever. But this emu is free, so why not play by different rules? Why not make all raids triggered? That works wonderfully for GR and FB... We can do that whenever we feel like it then - without having to worry about which guild's turn it is or whatever. Obviously you should make the trigger very hard to build in that case.. I don't have any problem with difficulty.. I have a problem with impossible. I want to know that if I keep working at it, I will eventually be able to get that particular item... even if it takes weeks or months.. that's fine... but not being able to see the light at the end of the tunnel is very much depressing. Take the following variables into account for troller raid: - it doesn't spawn often - gotta make sure it's our turn (and not the turn of another guild) - the core rarely ever drops - if it does drop, you have to do a lotto and hope you get lucky. Just the above variables alone is why 1 guy (from the USA) told me he only ever got it twice in 5 years of playing. Now add the following variable: - timezone which is outside USA (circa 13 hours in my case) So... I'm looking at that and thinking there's no way in hell I'm ever getting a core. Waiting months, no problem... waiting years or more likely forever... not cool. And bear in mind... this is even taking into account that I have been playing like a maniac for these 5 months... if I were to try have a more balanced life and only play an hour or so per day, it would be even more impossible. Just telling you that so you don't think I'm just an occasional player and demanding to have it all... which is how everyone seems to want to treat those of us who bring these concerns up. I have been playing like a mad man. Until recently, I had in fact been playing 6+ hours per day on most days and screwing over my health and family life because of this game... I've had to stop that for obvious reasons and trying to slow down now. But the point is this: even when playing like a maniac, it's still pretty much impossible to get certain things. So it's no wonder people are losing interest.. if they feel they will never be able to accomplish much, of course they're going to call it quits. I've had the same thoughts myself recently... Mostly I'm sticking around for the story-line now... I've pretty much given up on raids that are not triggered and with spawned bosses like the warder and modi's child. Why not try to keep people's interest (which as Mark pointed out and Flip agreed, the player base is plummeting right now)? Yes there are some die-hards that don't mind sticking around for years and years before they get something.. good for them. I truly do admire that.. but that's not for everyone. Do you really only want to appeal to those few die-hards and ignore the rest of us? You might not get so many people leaving the game if you did something about this. My apologies for a long winded response and if it sounded a bit like a rant.. it's not; I just want you to see where some of us are coming from.. basically all I'm saying is it would be good to make sure everything is actually possible to get. Waiting weeks or months is perfectly reasonable so long as it is in fact possible. Waiting years for something is madness. I don't care what other MMOs do.. they're doing it to milk people... how's that relevant to this emu?
  21. LOL. I was not for even a second pushing for it to be done faster. I wasn't even aware that it was even in the works at all and you would have realized that if you read my original post more carefully. As per my original post, you can see I am asking whether it's even possible to do it at all or not (because I don't know if it requires changes on the client side or not). Now that I know you guys have it on your roadmap, I'm quite happy.
  22. Thanks for the response, Kyp. Of course I wouldn't expect staff on at all hours, especially when like you say, they are working for free. I am merely pointing out that it's not working out so well for some of us in other timezones and wondering if there is something we could do about it. For example, what about allowing the advocates to open PRS as well? Nadyra is very often on at the same time as I, because he's in Germany (obviously much closer to me). Or is it something quite complex and/or requires certain knowledge to open up? My apologies if that's a stupid question, but I am indeed ignorant of how PRS works from your side (and also what permissions the ADVs have, if any). If you could enlighten me, I would be most grateful. I just want to get a discussion going to see if we could come up with something suitable for all parties or not.
  23. If I had been offering my skills, it would have been far more obvious. :-)
  24. Thanks, Redkite. I'm glad to see the dev team is taking this seriously.
  25. I don't think losing parts is a problem.. and you could just let it run one-bye-one if that's preferred.. so each item in the stack to be dismantled is calculated by itself.. so it will still take a while, but I won't have to manually click each time... sitting their for a whole day, getting RSI and going insane from the repetition.. I know there is probably a way to do that with macros, but I don't really like the idea of macros, not to mention I'm not sure how to get started with them anyway. Can you point me to a guide on getting started? So anyway, I don't think losing parts is a problem... especially since we're only talking about comps, not weapons, devices, etc.. because those don't stack... I'm only talking about stack-able stuff. A real issue for discussion is what someone else recently mentioned to me: that being able to batch dismantle stuff would put miner's out of business. Now I'm not sure I agree with that though, because we're not playing on the live server here... pretty much everyone I know does their own mining because we all have multiple accounts and multi-boxing them.. you don't see lots of people selling stacks of ores... I won't say I've never seen that, because I have.. maybe twice in 5 months.. but it's rare (at least from my experience anyway) and usually for high level ores (L8 and L9). So being able to rip for ores (especially lower ones) shouldn't affect anyone really. Do correct me if I am wrong there though... maybe there is some market for ores outside the Market channel, that I am not aware of... or some other issue that I haven't thought of ?
