I have been thinking this too - if a few people would be willing to do this and write up what did and didn't go well in terms of gaining XP - I'm sure there are some things that don't give enough and others that give way too much too easily - then we probably could get by without the wipe until we actually declare the server as 'open'.

    This is a much better idea IMO, especially since now one can play multiple accts without a virtual machine.. more likely they will actually start a new char when they can still play their existing char at the same time

  2. it seems like the comps are easier to come across in FB than they were in Cooper... in Cooper the fish spawned only 1-2 at a time mixed in with a group of others, whereas now in FB you can actually farm them..

  3. Yes they are attackable, however they retreat at 1000 thrust. (their speed) So unless your thrust is over 1000, you cant catch up to them, and the whole time your trying to catch them, they hit you at 2x their range.

    hmm wonder if this could be changed to where retreating mobs can only hit you at their normal range, and only retreat at a speed closer to what they float around at

  4. wonder if there is some way to backup the player database, so if there is another massive crash or something that would require a wipe, everyone's accounts could be retained at whatever lvl they were at when the backup was made.

    but I have no idea if that would even be possible lol

  5. I just wish there was a way to get +2 RD faction per mob. For example killing Earthcorps gives -2 EC & +1 RD... if some faction or Chavez gave +2 RD it would still take quite a bit of work to get positive, but it would at least cut the time in half :)

  6. having said that and logging on for a while I think it is a bug with the new multi-client login that only affects a few people. I'll take a look at that when I'm next on net7.

    It happens to me, but it worked fine until the restart yesterday.

    The 2nd Net-7 gets an error trying to bind to ports 3800 and 3501... almost seems like it doesn't recognize the already running N7.

    for what it's worth.. I'm using Win7 64-bit, as is another player who said they were having the same issue.. whereas another player who was successfully running 2 accts stated he was using XP.

  7. And looks like the login spam is still going on... wonder if it has to do with running two clients on same comp.

    definitely happens when trying to run two accts on same comp.. 2nd net7 shows: TCP Listener unable to bind to socket on port 3500 & 3801.

  8. Agreed could well be a bug due to the # of toons doing it all near at once.

    Sarahjane and Justdoit were the only ones doing it at once... the rest seemed to be one at a time. one would stop and another would start soon after

    weird, but I see server is back up.... :D

  12. The same thing that "Jane" was doing was happing with another player right as the server went down. My guess is the devs ether took down the server to fix an issue or someone spammed a login attempt in an effort to crash the server.

    Yeah, Sarahjane and another player or two were logging in multiple times a second for whatever reason... Devs mentioned they were working on it.

    but who knows.. any official update?

  13. please no... not another thread of macro vs non-macro... but then again... that said... CDel... how are macros counterproductive to STRESS testing... I am not taking a position on macros in this thread... but maybe I am confused about what the word STRESS means in regards to video game testing??? I would think that the more toons online at once would cause the server to have to do more things at once causing stress? Just from a learning perspective I would be interested in knowing that..

    well first of all you would have no idea if there are any bugs or glitches occurring if you have the macro running unattended...
