  1. Ok, I did tons and tons of FB Raids both public raids and with Merchant Marines. I also did many Tada-O Gate raids and here is the deal.

As far as I remember when they put the Fishbowl in they removed the Tada-O gate raid and all items that dropped from the Tada-O gate raid dropped in the FB in addition to the new loot. It took a minimum of 30 very competent and maxed players to complete the FB. The standard was 36 = 6 full groups. The groups HAD TO BE balanced. 1 TT, 1 JD, 1 JS'er (PS/JE), 3 damage dealers (PW/TE/JD). PW and TE were preferred as there was no way to keep a JD alive they would get 1 shot killed. The way it worked is upon gating the JD would warp to the very edge of the sector use a telescopium (or just know where the safe spots are) as far from the mobs as possible. The JD would summon the rest of their group to them. After that the JD, TT, and JE (if not a PS) would stay there the damage dealers would warp out and targets would be called over the raid channel. 1 target to be shot by all groups. As soon as a damage dealer was hit ONCE the JD would summon the person back to the TT and the TT would immediately start recharging. YES L9 shields were 1 shot killed if they were not summoned and healed fast enough. Many of them showed up back at the TT dead at which point the JE would JS them or the PS would come out of the fight and JS them.

However, the main reason that I see now why it seems harder is that plasma damage currently in the game (unless it's changed in the last day or so) does NOT tick off it hits all at once. This was the reason players were summoned back on the first hit (which by the way would take 1/2 their shields) if the JD / TT team was fast enough they could catch the person before the 3rd tick and recharge the shields as the ticks went off until the damage was done and then fully repair.

On a side note our guild went and did a Fishbowl on Sunday fairly successfully with less than a full group and I don't believe anyone in group was 150. How did they do it? They buckled up and sighed off the initial XP debt and tried different TACTICS. Once the tactic found that worked all went well.

Not to be rude really but what!!!

The Tada-O gate raid was never removed.

If you got 1 shot with a lvl 9 shield then what is the point of a TT when there would be nothing to recharge. you would be dead.

JD's did pull for buffs and to help save anyone who was about to die. but also some did fight i know because i had a JD and did manage to hang in.

How you would take damage was from many mobs hitting at once not a solo 61 1 shotting you.

FB raid could be done with about 5 groups 6 was better but it could be done with 5

Tada-O could be done with 3 groups. Was a pain but could be done. Static did this many time before there was a public uprising and we had to share the gate.

No matter how it was in live though fact is that the number really are not there for this raid to be full scale. lets do some math

    250 avg for the server

about what 50 to 60 of those are max

out of those lets say 55 about 30 are dual boxing

witch leave maybe 2 or 3 groups non-dual boxing

now add in time zones for them to be on and want to take damage on there uber accounts

witch mean to me at least raid need to be scaled down to were say 110ish or higher account can help out in some way so you can get numbers to them.

i'm in no way saying my number are right just guessing.

to me having a chance at uber gear at this stage keeps the game and testing fun. once the wipes are gone then it can be scaled up as needed. plus the amount of damage you take to items really needs to be tweaked 6% loss from one death to any item is nuts. in live i died a ton learning how to take down the controler. i think i may have lost about 6% between all items added together and that was over mayber 50+ deaths.

  2. this was only doable for the 1st half year of live after that there was noway u could solo tadao gate raid since it would have summoned u...i know i tried it after they patched it in live with a TE with 0.0 visibility

And as for the the 1st comment NO NO NO in live requirements for FB were lvl140+ for all classes but je and jd since a je was all the time cloaked for js and jd was at safe spot with a tt to summon partymember if they were about to die...so ya when ur using lvl8 shield u will die for sure..alot of je's who did jses in live can tell u that since they also died often..i dont think for now they should make it as hard as live which i think isnt the case since from wot ive heard its only the bosses inside no minions, but im not sure how it is now.

true i know this was patched i was using this as a refrance to how hard the mobs hit and could be kited out.. also yes again about the FB but even a JE could take a few hits before death. as it is now it is a 1 shot deal.

All i'm saying is with the amount of people on uping the boss mobs to this lvl of damage is too much they never hit this hard in live. the best way to solve this would be to make it more like live and group a good amount of minion around the boss and give it summon from like 5k and give the minions speed so the can no be kitted. lower the damange down and let the 7 or so minions do there job of ganging up like they us to. to kill would not take to much like 3 full groups of 150's but you would not be able to do it solo.

also on a side note Deasha the plauge never had shield recharge and was always able to be soloed even at lower lvl. infact i even remember there were 3 spawn points for him. PB was not that rare of a drop same with reaver. Just wondering why this boss was edited to be harder.

Dev's really not bashing anyone here just asking questions and trying to give insite to what i can remember so far thanks for the info you have given. As i always say you will never know anything is wrong if no one says anything.

  3. Yes i go into talking about the harvey event but that is only because all mobs for both harvy and FB are currently grouped in together and should be split but that is somthing that can happen down the road. As for me currently being 122 and going in. There were lots of people that helped with the gate lvl 100+ in live. I had done it many times and i had never been 1 shot killed. The gate was not hard to do and the mobs were not that hard. The big thing was that you had soo many spawn at once that they would overwelm you if you did not kill the spawns fast enough. 1 v 1 they were no harder then any other mob other then the bosses had more shield. Had they all been able to 1 shot lvl 8 shields and hull then there would be no way to take it down. I do not beleave 150 would be that much differnt after talking to lots of others that were 150 and killed. JD's JE's, JT's would not have a shot in heck to live seeing as how at 122 i already have more hall and shields then them plus damage control.

As for my question i don't think that it is really possable to take down mobs in the FB.

Raids in live were my life. Static was the best raiding guild out there. we were the 1st to take down pretty much everthing and at the current state of things the FB is nothing more then a death trap. The item damage rates are so muffed up that even if you did manage to kill a few mobs here and there your items would loose half there %.

I too would love to see it how it was in live but as it is it's no were close.

I feel that yes there needed to be some changes but to force grouping and make the mobs so hard you don't stand a chance is too much.

lower drop rates or group up bosses with minions to mak it harder.

    just my 2 cent

ps yes in live you could solo mobs from the gate by kiting them.

  4. Last nite our guild took a full group with 2 PW's , 2 TT's , 1 JE and 1 TE . We tried the master and got our butts handed to us .... but was able to do pretty much everything else in there with some tatics...( gona take at least 2 if not 3 groups to get the Master )

i have no problem with the changes in there cuz it was to EZ, no one should be able to go in there and solo or kite to begin with... its almost like Live was as far as damg goes... i think the Devs are trying to return that area to the way it was intented ( GROUPS )and they are not far off... i cant wait until its just like live was , when it took 5 to 6 good groups to complete from ourside cooper gate to inside the FB....

    my 2 cents :)

not true well at least the stuf about live. You could solo the gate. if you had a TE or TT that had a low sig and could get in range to pull the mob. I know because i did this many times before people found they could tank the gate with enough people. Heck if you had a low enough sig a te could sit and kill without kiting the mob why a JD would looted.

  5. Just wondering. I went into the fishbowl today and wow found that it was crazy hard I had heard the talk about it, but never went in to see how bad. I have a lvl 122 PW lvl 8 shields full damage control, Ivory ward. In other words i should be able to hang in some shiz. Anyway i found that i was 1 shot from a lvl 61 from like 6 k away. this is nuts. This would mean any Jennie would be 1 shot easy everytime. I would like to know if this is going to be changed anytime soon. I can see making some changes to make it a little more hard but come on. Change the drop rates. leave the range on but lower the damage back to what it was so they can't be kited. Give them more shields. anything but this. Also i would like to point out that what made the gate somewhat hard was not the damage or range the fish had but was the fact they spawned in like 6 to 8 mobs and 1 boss all at the same time. if you did not kill off the 1st wave the next wave spawned anyway. if you were unable to do it you would see 50 fish floating around.

To fix this raid should not be hard and should make for a good stress test in itself. Kill harvey triggers fish to spawn in waves if the waves of mobs are not cleared in X amount of time the gate despawns.

    Rant off

Now my question. Has anyone been able to kill a mob in the fishbowl????? my guess is no. If my pw can be 1 shot then that tells me even with lvl 9 shields 1 shot will get into my hull 2 will kill and other classes not made to tank will get 1 shot. This is based on a 61 not even a 66.

  6. i do have to ask this question. If the point was to make rare items mean more (witch i Totaly agree with. why not change drop rates instead of closing of the fishbowl to lvl 150 chars and making drops like PB reaver a boos that takes a group to kill when in live was easy to solo even then. 150 to the fishbowl seems a little much. i could have lvl 9 weapons as early as 110 120 ish now i can gear up till 150. besides that the server is avg about 200 people on i would say a good amount of those 200 are dual boxing. witch would put us at about 125 or less. out of those how many are 150 maybe 50 now how many are on at the same time 25ish. for this kind of content the numbers just are not there. Plus the point is to stress test well how can you test when there are not enough people to take on what you are wanting tested. it just will not work.

i'm not ranting really just stating facts a good fix to the rare item issue is to lower drop rates.

sry for the bad grammer i'm at work and rushing to post this lol

  7. we've been asked not to start a new thread every time there is a server issue - use the pinned "server status" thread at the top

    Note the topic SERVER STATUS

    This is LOGIN SERVER

these are 2 differt things. they both can be up or down one can be up and one down like now. When i posted this the server had just been up for 5 min so i did not want this to be misteaken for the last down seeing as how the Game server was up and login was down.

    Hope i cleared this up.

FYI sorry if i sound harsh just having a bad day and i'm sick. not pun intended

  8. OMG PLEASE "No ROLLBACKS OR WIPES"

I have been here from the start yes the start. I was her the day this was started with Razor and helped build the dev teams crack packet keys and much more. We just had a wipe not that long ago and i'm still tring to build up my char again. He is only 105. I love this game and i love testing but i also love to play. Between life and testing i do not have the time to keep grinding up char's and in fact it gets fustrating. I know this is all part of getting to were they need to be, but i for one would like to have a chance to get my char to max and get the items that count "lvl 9". if this does result in a wipe i think there are alot of people out there that might call it quits till we get to a more soild state and are not having wpes every month. It was not so back on ST3 because of the xp boost but now it is a pain.

  9. not true do trade runs till 50 then do combat till 50 then keep doing trade runs or combat to level explore up. I did it on my TE and it took me about 3 to 4 weeks. also you can get to eplore 25 just from finding all navs so it's not that hard.

  10. I don't know about you but i hate the placement of the 5th weapon mount. I would love to see this changed to maybe the bottom middle or even top middle just not hanging of the right side of the frontwindow . just does not seem balanced

  11. The conflict arises when the two groups are after the same item, let's say a skull shield. Group A may not wish to share the kill with Group B due to the horrid drop rate on the item. Grouping is great if the people are after different objectives. I've done this repeatedly (i.e. I'm camping for a ML, and a PW is after a PL), and it's fantastic when it works that way, but if someone doesn't want to share and would rather compete, there's nothing wrong with that. It doesn't make either group a bunch of "KSers" if they chose to have a shoot out instead of an agreement. A little competition can make the game interesting, and drive the need to improve your skills/gear.

Bartering if you know you are going to get outgunned can also be useful. Trade the boss spawn time if you have it in exchange for the privelege (not a right) of getting the next kill while the clearly superior players holds back, with the agreement of moving on afterwards.

Getting "KSed" as it is usually described is incentive for me to do better in the future and not have it happen again, not a window to chew someone out for having better equipment than me.

Great Post. i'm sorry but this is not a "The Carebears" game your not playing hello "Kitty Island Adventure"

I'm not one to warp in and say get off the nav and start taking it all but on a boss??? It's all fair game. Infact to me people that KS made the game fun for me in live and this is why.

You get peeved the fight back. That does not work you call in guild. They call theres you warp to the mobs asap and it leaves you with a since of exietment. It's just a game. Heck i Remember battling over navs in live just to group with that person a few min later to take on someone tring to out do us both. The gate wars were the best. everyone around hitting the gate and crossing your figures you got the kill. somtimes you did otheres you did not. but it made it that much better when you did.

In closing. it's a game not real life play it don't live it.

  12. The whine about lack of plasma beams is slightly amusing especially coming from Terrell who has no problems ever cuz he uses lvl8 projectiles.

But those against proper plasma beams on JE...you must have an amputee fetish or something cuz that is exactly what a JE is even if you give him 3 uber beams.

I would only start to worry about JE's if they could actually KS another profession...which is not going to happen in high level places.

anyway here is an extremely well thought through beam to make the JE's happy:

Since several other girly men colours are already taken for weapons(notably purple and brown), pink is the obvious colour for this beam.

Pink Dragon laser W9 (W stands for Whine, the reason it was developed. 9 is its level)

    JENQUAI ONLY (O RLY?)

1 second reload (one second reload so the girls who use this arent going to do the "let's cloak and wait up the 9 sec reload game", but instead are forced to fight like real hairy men)

    75 plasma damage

    buffs:

Choosing the buffs is ofcourse the most difficult part because it can be prettymuch anything. But the dragon lasers follow two buffs so here's some ideas:

Ship beautification (equip) Your ship gains a covering of magnificently pink feathers. Bio mobs will not attack you but attempt to mate with your engine exhausts instead. The subsequent goo in your exhausts slows your ship by 50% for 60 seconds and you cannot warp while the engine coughs it up.

Player beautification (equip) When in stations, for one minute Terran male characters both players and NPC's are forced to rapidly spam the sit_breathe emote while facing you. After this spasm of enthusiasm, those characters are forced to whisper you saying how pretty you are, even if you are male, and especially if you are male.

Improved jumpstart (equip) The downed ship can be jumpstarted with some help of a friend of yours. A second ship appears immediately out of nowhere, presumably wormholed, containing a very chill looking jenquai police officer named Zed. Quicker than a star trek transporter, Zed appears behind the downed ship's avatar and gives him a knock on the head. The lights go out and you hear some country western music. After 5 minutes Zed gives you 100k which he has gained as payment from the downed ship for helping jumpstart. The jumpstarted player has -75% movement speed for 4 days while in stations.

Improved whine (equip) ...if this weapon is equipped, when posting on the forum your lettersize is automatically set at 110, posts you create are automatically stickied, stay at the top of the recent post list for two weeks, all players are automatically PM'd of your messages, and last but not least if progens post in your thread they lose 5 combat levels per post.

Multi-whine (equip) You are allowed to spam messages multiple times in threads which cannot be moderated. Also, there is a percent chance that you can multi-post based on your current level, allowing for even more efficient whining. Level 0-50 30% chance to double post. Level 50-100 70% chance to double post and 30% to triple post. Level 100-150 100% chance to double post, 70% to triple post, and 30% chance to quadruple post.

Transgenderification (equip) When at the ship and avatar customizer you may change your gender at will. Additionally a third gender is available allowing wide hips and man's arms on the same character. Also, male characters may wear female attire and make use of female hairstyles.

Access to Shakti (equip) When equipped you may land on Shakti and explore it's pleasures. Shakti has a strict no-clothes policy and has banned heteros. Shakti vendors have a high demand for PVC full body suits, handcuffs, terran male slaves, lubricants and mankinis.

Just some thoughts to be taken into serious consideration.

OMFG that is some funny stuff. I started losing it at work +1

  13. There should be a table that tracks the last time the user logged in. By simply setting your query to bring up everyone that has not logged in for a specific amount of time you can easily remove older/unused accounts.

I totally support the original poster. At no point is a tester anywhere close to the level of a Dev. The Dev team must be able to do whatever they need to do to get the game to a state that they intend it to be. Testers have zero rights....you are donating your time. Further more if a "tester" is not testing, is not writing up bugs, or is causing issues with other testers (disseminating incorrect info, harassing players, violating the tos, etc) they can and should be removed. Games are not a democracy. At no point can a Dev be held responsible for testing new content and not alerting testers....that's the whole point.

As far as the "player" with incorrect rights that "may" have caused this...guess what? It's a valid test. It makes the Dev team aware that they need to either automate, regularly check, or simply remove old accounts. In fact it is good that it occurred. The bad part was all of the bitching and moaning. That doesn't help anyone. Let the Dev team know the issue, give them all your information, and then get on with testing the game. Getting killed 30 times outside of a star-base that you know has a very high level mob is testing.....for the first 10 kills....after that you are being a crappy tester.

And one last thing for those that think testers should have equal weight as a Dev. There are a ton of testers......you not testing the game will not stop it's progression. If a Dev leaves/doesn't do their work/is a pain in the ass it will effect the progression of the game. If you really need a good analogy it is like a sports fan yelling at a coach for making what they consider a bad call......your bitching doesn't help them do their job and in fact can harm it. How much time you spend "helping" the team matters not at all.

    VERY WELL SAID.
