  1. I am in the middle of Raising a new PW and I have been doing the Agrippa Missions.  I think that we are missing out on build-able high level weapon choices.  The Bile Weapons make up the majority of our weapons.

I have an idea of combining some real world weapon concepts to E&B.  To give an example of this I am going to use the AR-15 platform.  The AR-15 is a modular design that has two major components.  There is the "lower" which has the stock, pistol grip, magazine well, and fire control group.  The second major component is the "upper" which is the barrel, hand guard, and bolt carrier group.  You can stick many different caliber uppers on an AR-15 lower.  I personally own a few uppers in .22 LR, 5.56x45 (the most common), and 300 AAC "Blackout".  You can also get uppers chambered in very large calibers like the 450 Bushmaster or .458 SOCOM.  One thing to note here, all of these calibers with the exception to the .22 LR use standard AR-15 magazines.  You might have to change the magazine follower out, but the magazines can accept all of these different calibers.

There are also many firearms that fire the same calibers.  An example of this would be the standard AR-15 and M249 SAW.  They both are chambered in 5.56x45 NATO.  The AR-10 and the M1A are both chambered in the 7.62x51 NATO.

Why not apply these concepts to E&B?  I would like to see more lvl 9 weapons that use lvl 9 ammo.  We could maybe combine Agrippa and Diopogee technologies.  I would love to have Impact Missile Launchers besides the Ballistic Sniper and player made explosive projectile launchers.  Maybe we can have a mission for the lvl 9 weapon builders allow them to take PM weapons and modify them into different weapons that use a better ammo.  i.e. Modify a Bile Cannon at the build terminal that combines a lvl 9 Flechette, lvl 9 Bile Cannon and another random part into a weapon with the buffs of the components that fires Diopogee ammunition.  I would then add more ammo flavors that are given as a mission reward.

You could extend this to the terrans as well.  i.e. combine a lvl 9 Bile Weapon and Zet ML into something that uses lvl 9 Diopogee ammunition.

Please!  Give us some more high end weapons because bile weapons are bland.

  2. I recently worked for many hours to get the ores together to obtain 5 passes for the Mars Mission.  I was planning on buying the Archos Threading Machine because I had seen it as an option when I bought the Bile Threading Machine.  I pointed out to a dev that the part used to feed the machine was not sold at a vendor and that about 10 people on the serve (including my main TT) have the ability to make the part used to feed the machine.  I also told them that the ammo was non-trade.  The part can also be used by many of my warriors to make the ammo at a terminal and I can fire them in my Archos cannons.  I can not however trade them to my PS to use.  That machine was my only hope of getting the ammo on my PS.

The Archos Threading Machine is no longer available from the Mars Project.  A GM informed me that the ammo was now considered obsolete.  While I agree that there were a few things to fix with the machine and the ammo, it was not broken to the point that it needed to be removed from the game.  The people that wanted to use it would just have to catch one of the part builders online to feed the machine.  With the /craft command, it would be very easy to crank out a stack in a few minutes.

I was working towards getting this machine all day on Thursday 11/2 because I don't have the pattern for the ammo on my PS.  Finding enough of the ores to make a stack of refined alloys is not easy and takes a lot of time.  I was hoping to get the archos threading machine and then crank out the ammo in space for my PS to use.  With the threading device, the pattern for the ammo would not matter.  I now have 5 passes on my PS that I had obtained with the purpose of buying the Archos Threading device.

Please bring the ammo back.  It was not easy to work with, but it was still usable and worked.  It is not obsolete.

  3. Another idea.  I was thinking that maybe we could release a PS only PL that is made in the refine terminal by the PS.  You could have a simple Archos cannon be refined with a part that you get from the mars mission by turning in a few stacks of ore.

    Make the PL non-trade.  The specs would be as follows;

Fires either the normal archos or the threaded archos ammo.  0.9 sec reload time and the same amount of energy use as a normal archos

    - +150% Hull Damage Control

-Improved Grav Link by 3.33 levels

    -Improved Powerdown by 3.33 levels

-debuffs target with a -63.9% on impact

  4. I recently mined enough Mars Mission ores to get the Ten-gu Bile Threading machines.  I had no issues refining the parts used by the machine to make the ammo and was pleased that I could make bile ammo in space with one of my Terran Scouts.

I have not bought the Archos Threading machine yet but it is next on my list.  I assume that it will make the "Threaded Archos rounds".  Can you please get clarification on this before I buy the machines?  This ammo is not tradeable.  Can we modify this ammo and make it tradeable?  The ammo stack sizes of Threaded Archos are fantastic at 1600.  I would also recommend that the DPS of the Threaded Archos ammo be raised to be slightly higher than the bile cannons.  The Zet ML has a slightly higher DPS than the bile ML, why not make the Archos have a slightly higher DPS?  The higher DPS would be offset by the smaller stack size.

You could turn this around and keep the Threaded Archos as non-trade and make the DPS and stack sizes higher than the Bile Cannons.  This would give incentive for people to play the PS more often.

The part used to feed the machine is a big question for me as well.  I was able to refine the parts needed for the Bile Threading machine.  When I put the parts in my hold for making the Sparta Machined Archos round, it did not appear on my refine list.  I do have the ability to make the Sparta Machined Plasma round part.  I think that this is what the Archos Threading machine is fed to make the ammo but I was not sure.  How do I obtain the parts to feed the Archos threader?  Are they refined by an explorer or manufactured by a trader?

One last thing.  Are there plans to introduce chemical threading machines?

  5. It is now November but I can't find a November dry erase board topic.

I recently mined enough Mars Mission ores to get the Ten-gu Bile Threading machines.  I had no issues refining the parts used by the machine to make the ammo and was pleased that I could make bile ammo for use by other players in space.

  6. The Mars Missions have been a bit frustrating due to the hard to find ores.   Could we maybe tweak the turn ins?  150 Tantalum ores are more difficult to get than 30 platinum ores but they both get you 1 pass.

I have been thinking about how it would be cool to have a "mining raid" sector where you can pay to get in and have 30 minutes of mining time in the sector.  You could even toss a random AA in the sector for extra fun.

  7. I would really like to see the Progen Privateer get their missing skill.  I personally think it should be a Hull Damage Control charging skill (HDC) that would raise the HDC for group members.  This makes sense because Terran traders get the shield charging which boosts shields and the Jenquai Seekers get the Reactor Optimization which boosts the reactor.

  8. As Leader of SCC, I can say that we do not want a slot in the rotation and are happy with where we stand at this time, meaning that we can show up when we want to do raids with the public and don't have to punch a time clock. Most of all, I would not want a raid to sit due to my guild not able to get on at the same time.   If there is no public raid we help each other and One is glade to be of service.

I hope you get my point. No matter where you go, there you are.

I agree with this.  Leave the current agreement alone.  I initially pushed for an Epic spot and was not happy about passing the tests and still being denied a spot.  Despite my original feelings about it, I am glad things turned out the way they did.  I am happy with how well the public raids have worked for the last 2 years.

  9. What the heck are you smoking???? LOL

The reason getoffme pulled out of the discussion had nothing to do with what you posted. WOW He pulled out after being confronted with the FACT that EG was supplementing its numbers with another guild in the rotation already. I was at that meeting buddy you should not spout crap cause I will call you on it. Gettoffme was told directly if he booted the NON-EG raiders from your guild he would be put in the rotation if EG could legitimately field the raids. He choose not to do so. His doing not Static. The puppet master (not gettoffme) used EG to get even with slights that went down years before and the current Static members had nothing to do with. We (Static, VGE and BI) did our best to come up with something that was fair for the whole server and I think we did a dam good job!!!

Nothing but GREED and stomping feet like children to get more loot. I was wondering when the threats would start and now they have. I was surprised who the threats came from first though. As others have stated many times theses raids can be done with 1 group and will be done just like that if a few get their way here. Then we will be back here listening to the same people cause they dont get to raid at all or that only a hand full of people are doing the raids Blah blah blah it goes on and on.

I keep seeing post claiming that the BIG 3 dont represent the majority of the server pop when we all know they do but somehow the BIG 3 should not get the raids as it is now. If you represent 25% you should get 25% NOT 75%.

    The facts are,

    1. Most on the server get to raid regularly.

    2. The rotation HAS kept the peace.

    3. Keep going on with this and sooner or later the DEV's will step in and as stated already we will not like it.

    4. Far more have stated to leave things alone so why does this not end?

    5. PRS DUH!!! Want more loot? Use it!!! The DEV's worked hard to help us out so use it.

Your so full of shit that I bet your eyes are now brown.  Epic put in for the rotation and passed your tests using only Epic people.  I listened to the recording when GOM recorded them.  We also stated during the recorded discussions that we wanted to include the public in the rotation during our week.  This was meant to open up the raids to the other public.  You guys took that to mean that Epic was incapable of raiding alone.  This is so far from the truth.  Epic has more people than Static and when we get organized for a raid, we don't have to multibox a raid.

-Epic did your raid tests with no outside help and you ignored us

-Epic came back and stated a desire to include the other small raids with a similar response.

Here are some of my observations:

It took you 45 minutes from the Precursor Alpha wave to killing the Troller last night when watched.  The public would have started and completed the raid in about 20 minutes.

A few months ago I watched Static abandon a RD base raid when I took a group out there for some ammo testing.  Static abandoned the raid after they killed the mob that drops the CLP.  Once Static left, I decided to try and finish it.   The server crashed shortly afterward and I was unable to finish it.  During that time a single well organized combat group was killing the waves.  This went on for a bit and then the server crashed.  Had the server stayed online, we would have finished it.

Many times when I go to check on the triggers for the more difficult raids and they are up for days at a time.

Does Static even have the ability to take these raids down on their own without multiboxing?

  10. No, the way it went down is that you guy decided to forgo the rotation, we never heard the reason (to my knowledge). But as Efi said, you remember it the way you want.

Getoffme pulled out of the discussions for a reason.  That reason was that you guys were not letting us in and were stalling.  We knew taking raids down with ongoing discussions would not be looked at kindly.  Shortly thereafter we took some GOBB raids down that happened to belong to VGE and the discussion was reopened shortly afterward.

This is a minor detail though.  The real issue here is that you say you would let people in after they proved themselves but you are really not telling the truth.  Epic took the GOBB to prove that we could field a raid and Static demanded that we take down the RD base.  We took the rd base and you still refused to let us in.  You would have never let another group in the raid rotation until your hand was forced by the threat posed by the public.

  11.

On the discussion of allowing other "large enough" guilds a spot in the rotation: This has always been taken into consideration by our delegates (from all sides of the discussion) who have hammered out these agreements in the past. This has happened a few times with Phoenix and Epic Gamers (came to mind). Guilds wishing to join simply have to get their brass to make a request of the community, or get in touch with their favorite participating group to join. Then someone sets up a meeting, usually followed poll, and then we take a vote. Its that simple. Guilds in question have only to complete said raid successfully to join. Also consider the guilds in the agreement have also given up raids of their own for this to happen, and have done so voluntarily. This results in another group in the rotation, so everything gets popped out another week to make room for the newcomers. Easy enough.

This is a pure load of crap.  Epic jumped through those hoops long ago and we were still denied a rotation spot.  It was not until the "public" started taking the raids that the public spot was put in place.

  12. Have to agree with Mattsacre on this one GHB, if it was guaranteed that there would be an AA at the same field every time there was a server restart it was NOT working as intended and those that knew about it SHOULD have reported it

Who said anything about it being spawned in the same field every restart?  All the AAs I ever found were taken from different locations all over the server.  I have not found an AA in the same ore field at restart in the same location.

You guys are making an argument based on opinions and falsehoods.  When you come up with some accurate facts about AA, come back with a different argument as to why you think it is an exploit to run around the server looking for AA devices on restarts.

  13. Well the way it's meant to work is like this: A totally random world (or would that be universe? ) drop from "rock" type asteroids. It should happen anywhere at any time from a rock type. There isn't intended to be a "timer" or a clear field X times and it spawns thing going on. It is intended that the AA is in level range of the field mined. It is intended to be a very rare find item (they are so good you don't want everyone and their cousin with one). Their rarity is their value, they are intended to be so rare, they are very special and worth lots.

In the past, some "folks" noticed that certain fields would spawn within them a AA right after a restart. They kept this information to themselves and "exploited" it. It was an exploit because it was clearly not WAI and they took advantage of it without reporting the flaw. That is explained in the TOS as a violation. When the Devs finally became aware of this flaw (someone must have spilt the beans or let their consience finally speak for them), they started trying to confirm this flaw and fix it. Having a AA spawn 100 hr after a restart isn't a "exploit", it's well within the realm of WAI. But if right after a restart you see 1, count yourself real lucky and if asked by the Devs about it, be honest. I'm confident they will not feel you are "exploiting" if you are honest and pulled it honestly. But if you find 2 in short order after a restart.....their intended rarity, would make that happening very specious and you better report that as a bug insident.

Complete nonsense.  I have only found AA devices after a restart and they have all been spread all around the server.  You have to run out to the rock fields, scan the rocks and then move on.  I completely disagree that people finding the AA devices after a restart is an exploit.  As far as I am concerned, the AA devices spawn at restart.  Once they are mined they sometimes respawn in sectors that I have no access to.  If they are in a sector that I can't get into and don't spawn again on the server because one already exists, you would only expect to find them after a restart when ALL rocks are cleared.

This is not an exploit.  This is an example to unintended consequences.  If we really wanted to "fix" this issue, make the unidentified AA spawns a lot more common but restrict the "good" exchanges from Ravenrock when they are turned in.  You can add in "crap" AA devices that are returned more often from Raven rather than getting the nice toys that we are all after.

Not as an argument against making a mission, just suggesting a potential temporary fix.

Maybe my post did not come across as intended. My apologies if this is the case..........

I will try and make some triggers this weekend and do as many GR as possible to get some hard numbers.  Until I actually put the work into collecting data, I really don't know what the spread is between cobalt and flaming.

I still feel a bit dirty pushing for a cobalt fix considering how much I detest the ammo flavor.  I only use it at the GR and FB because it is the best for those raids.  It does however seem to be the flavor of choice for many people.

For what it is worth, I am very happy with the mission to turn ribs into teeth and I am glad you guys made it.

  15. Or maybe you could just trade Cobalt for Flaming on the market....

Did you use this as an argument against making the rib to tooth mission?

The rib to tooth mission was an addition to the game that solved a real problem and one of the best recent additions to the game IMHO.  I have made plenty of "trades" with people trading some of my cobalt for their flaming and then turning around and selling the flaming to a vendor because I can't use it fast enough.  Unfortunately I am no longer able to make that trade and help others out because my cobalt supply is so low.

I ran several gate raids in the last few weeks and was not able to make a single stack of cobalt bile in one raid session.  I ended up with about 2 stacks of cobalt from 3 Gate Raids.  I did however loot a ton of flaming bile.

  16. I just thought of this while I was contemplating the problems of the world as I sat on my smelly throne and I came up with this.  Maybe instead of a mission to convert flaming bile into cobalt bile, we can mix it up with a small mission, refine terminal work and farming.

Have a NPC toon (some crazy scientist from Texas) offer a mission to all ammo builders that gives a new pattern for a bile ammo called "Distilled Flaming Fangs".  This "distilled flaming bile" would be described as an unorthodox method of making the explosive nature of flaming bile slower and more controlled using the genetic know how of the Sabine and the bat shit craziness of an Aggie.  The mission however requires that you obtain some "distilled flaming bile" and tengu teeth.  Explosive after all is just a fast chemical reaction and maybe slowing it down a bit to get the burn would just require an agent that slows the reaction rate.  The mission reward would be the ammo pattern for "distilled flaming fangs" which does plasma damage and goes into the Bile PL.  To keep things fiar, you could also include a pattern called "distilled flaming ribs" which goes into the Bile ML.

The way to get the distilled flaming bile would be to use an explore class going to the refine terminal and making it through several steps.  You have the flaming bile and refine it with dung from DT to make "flaming poo slurry -yummy".  You then feed this noxious material to a worm egg from Arduinne at the refine terminal and then collect the resulting excrement called "flaming worm poo" from the poor worms suffering from explosive diarrhea.  Next you distill this vile "flaming worm poo" with a beaker, test tube, a random lvl 5 ore and Chavez Herbal remedy to make the "Distilled Flaming Bile" which is the part required to make the "distilled flaming fangs" and a turn in to the NPC mention above.  The "distilled flaming bile" would have the same icon as the flaming, amber or cobalt except be brown with yellow specks in it.

Using the refine terminal in this way as well as a new mission would make us work for the cobalt rather than modify the existing mission for swapping ribs for teeth.

  17. Now that was the pragmatic response. :D

A discussion could be made for reviewing the numbers by ammo type recipes available, that cobalt and amber as crossover types (working for both missile and projectile) should drop more prevalently than ossified and flaming which are only used in a single type for either one. I'll look into the current rates with Kyp and a couple of other people on the team and we'll see what numbers get crunched.

You saw it here folks.  The Canadian and crazy Texan working on getting along.

  18.

So in my opinion, yes, it would be "unfair" to do it for a single type for your personal preference, which is what I was pointing out. Others may disagree, as you do.

I don't see how making that point is a "straw man" response. I am however listening to "The Wicker Man" while typing this. Up the Irons.

We can disagree on this and be civil.  I apologize for pissing you off and I think it is a cultural difference.  Don't take it personally.

My preference is impact and explosive so no, I am not pushing for this because I like plasma.  My disdain for plasma is no secret and is common knowledge for people that play with me.

Perhaps the drop rate can be lowered on flaming and have the cobalt raised to address this?
