Thank you Matt. Now I know how NOT to play my PW the same way I play my TE.
The problem I see with PW is their 3 device slots. It will be hard to equip a debuffer, a damage resistance and a shatter device.

I use Microsoft's Security Essentials, "for the very low price of free" (their words not mine) and happy with it.
I don't like AVG: They are more paranoid than my other half
I don't like Norton. When your subscription expires, they do nasty stuffs on your comp, and it takes a lot of work to get rid of Norton AV.

I was caught out by this the other week - minotaurs go down slowly - so I forfeited thinking they would go away. They don't. Some pals noticed and smacked them for me. Lesson learned. Don't do minotaur missions, and if you do ask for help to kill them (and you still get the mission reward if you shoot first.
I believe Zachman has stated in a recent patch note that the mission mobs don't take damage until the mission taker shoots. So he no longer needs to shoot first in order to get the mission reward.

Care to elaborate on what solved it, so we can all learn from it?
Thanks

You'd need a Terran to kite them LOL

Thanks Stanig for the confirmation. My apologies for not reading the Patch Notes carefully. May be if the Patch Notes are also replicated in this forum, I should see them because I have more time at work break time (with no game ports opened) than at home when I have no time to play let alone reading the Patch Notes :-)

There are 2 accounts w.r.t. the EMU EnB you should be aware of:
(1) The Forum account, which is the one you log in here.
(2) The Game account, which you can have up to 9 accounts per forum account. These are created/maintained from the pull-down menu/tab labeled "Main" in the portal (portal = www.net-7.org). The game account and password are the ones Megan asks you to enter on the login screen. You can change your game account password's under the Account tab of the portal.

I tested yesterday after someone mentioned that it worked for him/her. These missions are now working, and I was able to open a trade window with Mc Clure. Too bad I did not know it is a 1-time chance and did not have the money to buy anything, so I wasted my key!!!
Luckily, the mission seems to be repeatable.

Server is rebooting as I write this to address ABB Blackholing problem.

My solution? There are more than one spawn points for Chavez CL1x. Also in JT there are 2 Chavez camps and at least 3 spawn points. Same for Odin Rex with 3 camps and at least 7 spawn points. There are also Freya, Venus and Neptune for Chavez mobs, just to name a few.
Remember you can only gain CL when the mobs is CL -10 or higher from your CL, so most high levels would not go into low level spawn points to grind, even for faction grind (cuz of the ammo cost). On the other hand, if the high level player switch to Beam to save ammo cost, his CL of "Impossible" does not mean squat. -
Here is the details of what rodsmith posted above:
See post #21 in this thread

Download the ZIP file as admin, then unzip it to the E&B directory as administrator.
If you run WIn 7, you may want to also set compatibility mode of all .EXE files to XP SP3, and check the "Run as Admin" flag in the EXE property sheet.

The only complaint I have about TS is that the HU10 requires them to go to New Edinburg shipyard where (1) it's a long drive through unknown sectors to them and (2) CL5 Chavez take shot at their ship, compared to the TT who starts with the Chavez in Yellow instead of red; and it is also not clear that they have to talk to Mc Kellan at Earth Station to get it started. There is also no entry in the mission log that tell them where to go to get the HU, IIRC of course. (I could be wrong here).
If you compare that to the new class JT, the JT have their HU10 upgrade in their starting sector iirc. Now even Paren SY is close to their starting sector, compared to the poor Scout who has to go Earth>ABA>Saturn<Glenn>Carp>New Edinburg to get his HU at level 10!!!
@Stanig: May be this is the reason there are few TS!!!! You have an Explorer Class with a huge signature equivalent to a target on their back saying shoot me!

Free WH, what can you ask? :)
Don't get me wrong!!! Yes, we still have problems with WH, but it __IS__ an improvement over what happened in the past, where GMHs are rampant, both inside and outside of Megan hours (of course less frequently outside of Megan Hour).
Also, it happened to me once that after I took the WH the first time, my toon did not get the jump, so I re-issue the WH from the JE. and this time my toon got displaced to a different coord. I then land at the station, and __then__, inside the station, I receive yet another WH!!!! This is happening inside Megan hour, while things are very wacky! With all that said, I'll take a misplaced WH over having to kill and restart the client via the Task Manager.
-
3 toons are run in 2 PCs, with 2 chars running multiboxed. The PS runs in its own PC, the PW and JE are boxed. All of the PCs are wired to the net, no wireless connection.

I have to admit that since the Mar 12th patch, gating during Megan hours (and outside of it) has gotten better. I believe the extra time-outs & retry count that Zach has added has made the number of Galactic Map Hangs [GMH] drop quite a bit, for both inside and outside of Megan hours. I was pleasantly surprised last week that I only had 2GMHs warping/WHing 3 toons doing jobs during Megan hours (compared to having at least 1 GMH per gate/worm hole previously)
I also notice that most gating problems now occur more on Wormholing compared to gating. What happens is that the JE issue the WH, the toon within allowed distance take the WH, but the toon does not get placed into the new map, but remains in the same map, with a different location (basically the toon will remain in the same sector, but with the coordinates of the weft in the destination sector!!!!)

Re: An antila (sic) device shunts shield to reactor. It max recharges reactor instantly.
Unless I have looked up the wrong device, an antlia device is for JE only. I think you mean the scutum device?

In the mission with De WInter in Somerled, the mission description says "Seek out pirates threatening SOmerled", and I have been running around killing RDs and smugglers on the west side, discoring their stronghold, but the mission objective did not advance. What am I supposed to do? MIssion objective is so vague!!!
[EDIT]
Never mind, revisit the nav point a second time, triggered it.

To get started, read this thread.

Also, IMHO, the most important thing is that you DON'T run the E&B client, but the net7portal.exe app instead (which calls the client). -
Actually I don't like the automatic merge. I would like to keep the looted items separate from the vendor-bought ones, in order to gain trade exp when I trade them.
For the auto-stack, the workaround I use is to sort them, followed by the shift-Right-click

Ah, thanks, if it makes the game better, my vote is for enabling the commented out codes.
-
Zack, so the current way is that a lv2 build has the same effect as a lv9 build? If so, my vote is to change it the way Knix posted in #18 (the halve rule)
-
The previous post has a better solution, IMHO. You halve the effectiveness of the build for each level removed from lv9. so it is 2^^-7 and it would take 128 lv2 builds to accomplish the same as a lv9 build. Whoever choose this method would indeed get Carpel Tunnel Syndrome and would also need to replace the mouse!!!

Mik,
Yes, there was a patch, not this last week, but a few weeks ago. Like Matt said, they must have fixed it while fixing the bug "Gaining Energy while group warp".It was a bug, and got fixed. It is not a new bug they introduced.

@Yendor,
The issue, as I see it, rests within oneandone, the ISP that the EMU server is using. They alone can route the traffic around Level 3 nodes. And yes, ISP does static routing all the time to make their customers happy.
I was just kidding when I said move the server. My guess is that oneandone also provides server hosting for sunrise, so, unlike me at home where I can switch ISP as I like, switching sunrise's ISP also involves switching server hosting as well.
May be more contribution is needed to upgrade the internet connection to a T1 line?

Norton is nasty in that they deliberately make it hard for you to uninstall it. You will need a tool from Norton to remove Norton. Failing to do that, Norton is still running hidden somewhere and can break havoc to your system.
I would advise everyone against using Norton AV, even when it is free. Norton is very sloooooow compared to other AVs, when it works that is.
You can get the Norton Removal Tool from this link (Link is safe, it is from Norton themselves)
