  1. Well after being able to play fine all day after yesterday's lag fiasco, the lag for me is once again back and the game is completely unplayable again. Others are reporting no lag, but I must be being routed through a problem area again or something being in the UK. Seriously not cool :(

  2. Well my ithoughts were that it is called the flechette, I figured it'd would be something similar to the flechette weapon from star wars, or similarly the flak cannon from Unreal Tournament. Like a super shotgun essentially. The rounds that the tengu-plagues fire at you would be a good match in terms of how the ammo could look as they fire those streaks of particles at you, maybe with the audio effect of the dark matter cannon? As I recall the dark matter cannon rounds sounded like nuclear bombs going off with each volley, and was easily my favourite SFX of the game only bested by the Defenders Pride high pitched beam effect, the same sound synonymous with a Vrix attack lol.

Would this be that difficult to achieve?

  3. Rez if you have been unsuccessful so far there is a torrent available to download the installer, md5 and .z7ip archive all together and there's like over 1000 seeds. I found it on Kickasstorrents just search Black Mesa. I got the game in about 15-20 mins @ 2.1mb/s

  4. Due to the unplayable lag we are currently experiencing because of that blasted two-bit ISP; I found myself scratching around for stuff to keep me entertained until normal service is resumed. It was during this time that I stumbled upon this website http://www.blackmesasource.com

It is a complete re-make of the original Half Life using the source engine and is entirely fan made!

I set about downloading it instantly as it's completely free and I have now played up to the test chamber disaster and I'm thoroughly impressed so far! Although not available directly through Steam yet they are completely endorsing it and recognise the very high quality of the work.

Hopefully this will help some of the rest of you get through these dark and uncertain times!

  5. Okay so I was facing massive problems much the same as all of you have been describing! I found that I could run 1 client okay but with choppy play here and there but after starting a 2nd client all hell broke loose and both clients just lagged to hell and it was impossible to run both.

After reading through all the recommendations from Zack I did the following things to my computer:

    Disabled IPV6

    Disabled IPV4/TCP/UDP Checksum Offload

    Disabled "Large Send Offload"

Changed "Speed & Duplex" from "Auto Negotiation" to "100 MBps Full Duplex"  (I am connected to my router directly via Ethernet)

Made sure Packet Optimisation / Prototype Reorder / Disable Mouse Lock / Delete TH6 files were all checked.

Opened up my router settings and under ADSL settings changed MTU from 1492 to 1500

    -----------

Now the game works perfectly, gating is quick and efficient, game play is smooth, and once again can run multiple clients with no issues.

The exact above steps solved all issues I was having so hopefully it may help some of you too!

    I am running Win 8 64bit / Realtek PCIE Ethernet adapter / 20mb ADSL2 connection

(edit) NB I noticed MASSIVELY better Torrent Speeds & Responsiveness after making these changes too!

  6. Does anyone else but me think that the Flechette Omega could benefit from a change in aesthetics? Obviously with models being thin on the ground I am not much bothered by it having the same 3d/2d model as the Claw of the Dragon, my issue lies within the rounds that it fires, you all know the small thin lines of ammo that flow out of it, seemingly like a constant beam at high turbo - a most unimpressive display considering how great the buffs are, and the effort required to manufacture/possess the item.. which leads me to the audible effect of it firing the "whooshy - pew pew pew" sound I'm sure most of you are familiar with. It just doesn't strike as a very intimidating weapon in any way, when in fact it is a vastly superior launcher!

Are there not more suitable/fitting rounds/sound effects for this mighty weapon?

  7. Okay so energy leech got fixed and no longer works on targets that die during the time it takes to spool up (sad face)..

Now when it activates on dead mobs and you receive 0 energy, it counts as you having used the skill even though you gained nothing from it.. and you have to wait for the cool down timer to try again.. is this intended?

  8. Has someone restarted Anarchy 99? I noticed there's now an Anarchy 99 decal available but I haven't seen anyone around carrying the tag?

I have fond memories of being in A99 on pegasus and on tranquility when we migrated to Eve after sunset.

Hit me up in game if there's any survivors out there :)

  9. I think the right balance just needs to be found still, there has to be some middle ground that we can find. And in terms of "LIVE" status. It's early days.

Now in game I don't want it all handed too me, but at the same time I do want some rewards. I'm all for increased difficulty, but there's a difference between increased difficulty, and taking the fun out.

Let's face it after grinding to level 150, there really isn't much left to do other than raid and try an get your uber gear. Once that's done with.. well then you just stand in OMP chatting, or start a new toon and complete the process again.

I don't think it's the DEVs trying to screw us out of our EnB dream, it's just that the game doesn't really have that much to offer in the first place. It's old, and it's limited at best by design. An c'mon .. we've been playing it for a long time now, you can't expect it to still be as fresh.

The main thing that fuels interest is new content, which currently we have none of due to stability issues and high priority bugs being fixed.

Most of the changes that people are unhappy about seem to be that a dynamic has been introduced that means that they cannot complete something alone which previously they could. Unfortunately we do not have the player base to accomodate these types of changes.

Frustrating as it is I think we just need to be a little more patient and see how things progress over the next few months.

  10. Do we have any idea what has caused this drop in DPs then? Was something broken before that was causing us to receive more DPs than intended and was fixed in the patch? I'm still clueless as to why my defenders pride used to hit for 4000 minimum base damage on cl58 voltoi, now I'm lucky if I hit 4009 on a critical + plasma debuff.. ?

  11. Well beam range aside. I would just like to know if this is an intended drop in DPS overall... or like shadinaxx said is there an item buff or something similar that is no longer stacking/active/working that has affected damage output the way it has

  12. I agree whole heartedly that achievable beam ranges needed bringing down. I was able to produce a beam range of 8.6k with DG+4 Proto 9s+Vindis Beam Focus (not that I'd ever actually use that setup but still...)

But even at point blank something is definitely wrong!

  13. Has anyone else noticed a significant drop in beam damage? I'm not talking about the beam damage falloff at +50% range. I'm just talking about a major drop in DPS overrall. Since the most recent patch it is taking me 6/7 more shots on target than it was pre-patch... and this makes me a sad panda

  14. Mad ?

No not mad, just tired and gruppy.
Read the logs, I just spent four or five heavy days leveling 3 toons.
And the leveling was done the old fashion way, no exploits.
Normally I try to get back to my base at the end of the night.
The gating feature really made the trip home enjoyable.

    As for magic wand fixes.
I do grasp the complexity of this EMU,
and I am familiar with the specific code within it.

    About the griping.
Nothing I say is meant to be taken serious, THIS IS JUST A GAME.
But, the forum is the place to gripe. Griping in chat is a bad Idea.
When I goose the (AH HEM) DEVs, it is actually just in fun.
They get plenty of praise on chat and in forum.

I am grateful for this EMU, and will miss it when it goes.
Just as I missed the EA version.
I did do writing on my own server, but it is not the same without a population.
And not being an overtly social person, I would not open a public server.

    Have fun !

The drone kept going, WHEW !!!
