  1. Hey peeps, haven't been on much lately do to a worsening lower back injury but finally getting that long time coming surgery in the morning, and with a little luck

I'll be back on my feet in a few weeks. I have huge confidants in my surgeon, he did an excellent job on my neck last year, but a few well place prayers couldn't hurt

so lets crank up some of those group hugs and wish me luck guys. Have a good summer y'all and I'll BRB ASAP.........

  2. Rez if you have been unsuccessful so far there is a torrent available to download the installer, md5 and .z7ip archive all together and there's like over 1000 seeds. I found it on Kickasstorrents just search Black Mesa. I got the game in about 15-20 mins @ 2.1mb/s

Took me 2 1/2 hours to download but finaly got it, installed it to \Steam\steamapps\sourcemods\BMS that the instructions say and that dint work, installed it again in \programfiles(x86)\Steam\steamapps\sourcemods\BMS, the default path and got it running, by the way you need Steam to play the game for those that had problems.

Now for the good part, after playing a few minutes I realized I had done this game in the past, dont rem when but old age sucks, getting soft in the head lol.......

  3. Did what Zacks link pointed to and it dint help with the planet problem, unchecking prototype reorder seems to solve the problem but getting rubberbanding and lag  issues,

back to checking proto reorder and I guess relogging on planets for now till we have a better fix.

  4. What seems broke to one player might be part of the plan so some things are not clear cut, for instance, past few months I found 6 lvl 7 Unidentified devices, 5 of them turned out to be aa Eghtag an, TE only, as a JE it pisses me off, makes me think its fixed, a scam, no way it could be random, with 7 lvl 7 aas to pick from how could it be random that 5 turned out to be the same.

On the other hand we have reported bugs that have not been fixed, for instance the Quartermaster, its been like 5 months now that they disabled selling to him do to some bug we reporter back when, did the DEVs forget about it? did they just hit the easy button and disabled him instead of fixing? we don't know, we just have to live with it like so many other bugs, cant blame peeps like the OP, a lot of us feel that way.

  5. I think it is more of a ...If you have a toon sitting in a field for the timed re-spawn of the goods, you pull ALL the good stuff and leave the crap over and over and over...isn't that much like what the guilds were fighting over? One group had / has a monopoly on a boss, nothing is left for the other guilds...by your logic...Awww too friggin bad...Sitting in a field and not having to travel, not having to do anything but log in at the exact spot, pull the goods and log off.  Puts you at an advantage that is not fair to other players... Oh wait you claimed it, "I am here it's MINE ALL MINE"......we should stop our whining and let you play the game how YOU want to...we should just buck it up..

I have no idea what your rant is about, your taking it beyond the subject of this post and my response that you quoted is only about mining and  cherry picking.

  6.  Miners are not garbage collectors, most are out there to get needed ores for builds, if anyone has an issue with left overs in roids petition the DEVs to make them despawn faster, 5-10 minutes would be good.

To mine a lvl 9 ore takes about a second, to mine 50 debris can take up to 5  seconds depending on your skill and devices used, with 5 mobs around you its almost impossible to mine without being interrupted, again, if anyone has an issue, petition the DEVs to either get rid of the mobs, make them not instantly attack a player the second he/she uncloacks or warps to the roid or make debris mine faster.

Some people think they have the right to dictate to others how to play the game, to them I say, kiss my a**, real life is hard enough, we don't need peeps like you busting our chops, its only a freaking game.

lol, had to clean that up a bit before I get my a** banned

  7. And the final point I will make is addressing the subscriber rate issue in the post above me.  The real reason players arent playing anymore is because they raced to endgame, got all their stuff, and got bored.  It took all of 3-6 months for that to happen, because all many of them care about is their "my item X and item Y" bragging rights.  Once they have their god beams and black spitters they stop playing.  Time and again I have seen this, that a player must get to 150 in 2 weeks or less, must raid constantly to max out, and then they wonder why there is nothing left to do.

With the almost unlimited accounts one can have and nine unique classes one can play, max lvl and uber up, I'm skeptical of your claim, I personally had 13 max toons in st4, including 4 JDs, as you well know, if I'm not mistaking, you where the one that blamed me and a few other boxers for making the Troller and Gobb too easy so the DEVs had to feed them steroids and such but that's another story.

I closely follow these forums and besides one guy saying he was going to quit because the game was to easy, I haven't seen the proof to substantiate your reasoning.

  8. +1 @ Lobevaser

This whole thing is a mess for the simple reason that most people play the game to have fun and not drama. The DEVs need to look back at what made EA live close down and not repeat the same mistakes.

Making the game where a few elite can brag of there wealth and power, and the rest, casual and small guild players left out, is a recipe for disaster.

The game statistics page clearly shows a steady drop in attendance since we went live, that tells me the player base is not confident enough to see a long future and are not willing to commit.

IMHO most players don't care if they have the best gear in the game as soon as they turn 150 so much, as to be included in the end game content, the system in place ATM is dividing our small community and turning old friends to foes. Can we afford to lose more peeps then we already have?

Solution? who knows, we may never be able to make everybody happy, but we need a different approach, the ways of past few months are not working.
If it was up to me I would have Gobb and Troller spawn every hour, why the F not, if people want to raid let them, just make the uber loot less
and add a bunch of comps so everybody pays for there ammo and chit, fun and good times for all without flooding the market.

  9. Me too, looks like Static are trying to bring back the good old days...

If thats what they want, I'm game for it too :)

Basically Static are going back to the good old days of being what some would call 'unfair sportsmansship' basically me me me, mine mine mine mode :P

On two of your responses you mention "the good old days" Come on, tell us how you really feel about it ha lol

  10. Anybody that mines on a regular basis knows how repetitive and time consuming it can be, and for such tiny xp rewards, its no wonder some prefer tours or jobs, much faster and easier then mining to lvl a toon, if it wasn't for the pure enjoyment or to gather needed ore I don't see the point of it.

Fortunately at the moment we have a few options, if you choose to hump it out, especially for us older kids with issues, you will need an assortment of mining devices to aid your goal, I have included a partial list of the most common that I use, you may consider getting them even if you don't feel that you need them but just in case, its better to have and not need then to need and not have.

Another option may be mining bots, they wont make you miner of the month, do to the fact that no matter how good they are they cant even come close to the performance

of a well equipped miner, (again, see list above for needed devices) but you can get the desired fix of enjoyment you crave for without the side affects, but remember,

unattended macros is a banable offense and if some people have it there way all bots will be illegal, so enjoy them while they last.

  11. It seems natural that practice makes perfect, or better results anyway like in real life, the more you learn and the more you make of an item the better quality you can expect so I don't see an exploit here.

Now the real issue might be that its not consistent, each time you hit the item to be built you get a different expected quality as somebody pointed out to me the other day and that might need a little work.

  12. @Rezwalker

I really beg to differ from Kyp's assertion that "only a few players" are affected by Megan hour.  Between that time frame, most players are staying in stations and chat.  I sometimes take the risk of going for bosses at that time, since there are fewer players who hunt at that time.  Of course, I got a lot of XP debt as a result of CTM/CTD while hostiles are around :-)

The Megan Hour as you politely put is from midnight to 1:00 Am for me and many, if not all East coasters,  I learned the hard way, the game becomes unplayable, unless you just sit at a station and chat or something that does not involve docking, un docking, gating, analyzing, jobbing, hunting and so on, at which time I promptly log out to save my sanity.

The WinMTR results I posted above clearly shows that the Kansas City hub problem goes beyond the 12:00 to 1:00 AM EST time frame and although I get massive data loss, 32% in this case, It does not by itself make the game unplayable so the question here is, what other factors kick in at that time. One thing I notice on a regular basis is data loss at the last hub,u15438806.onlinehome-server.com, which I assume is  sunrise.net and have seen up to 10% loss , and only at Megan Hour, so if we don't have a nightly backup at that time why does it happen.

As far as DEVs are concerned, and the general player base assertion that there out of touch with reality on the game mechanics, we can't really expect them to have the hands on experience that some of us long-timers have that play the game like it was our full time job lol, all we can do is point out the faults and problems in the game and give them time to figure things out. Sometimes we forget they have nothing to gain by this effort and are doing it for the love of the game and the community.

Thanks guys and keep up the good work.................

  13. So no solution for the daily Megan hour for those of us on the left coast?  The irony is that we are the only ones that would play at that time, given that 9-10PM is prime time in the West Coast, while most East Coasters have gone to bed cuz that's past midnight for them.

Would moving the server to the West Coast fix the problem?

East Coast isn't any better, ran WinMTR tonight at 10:15 to 10:20 PM and  got 32% data loss out of Kansas City.
