1. The adds are too small to be annoying, also the subjects are not annoying at all. Maybe if you added Peter North's maximum pills to the adds then at least half the people here would have to become a donator.

Okay initiative anyway, though a better fundraiser would involve the threatening to let Byakhee do more than just progen missions.
2. Kenu,

Support master and decent builder will make it overlap with the TT, which is a decent support and a master builder.

This overlap is something that can't be helped, but that is no excuse not to make the JS a unique class.

I don't see many upsides to the JS yet. For a group to lug a L8 shields tradesman with beams about there had better be great upsides.

Pls don't point at reactor opt as it's key skill. While it is nice to have, in live with the right equipment most classes did not have energy issues.

What the JS needs is a skillset that given the choice people will want to have it in their group instead of a TT. Only then will it be a support master.

3. Those Jenquai ML's have horrible dps. I doubt anyone sensible would use them.

Terrans don't have a large advantage with L9 engines. It's not like L9 shields which have nearly twice the regen and capacity of their L8 counterparts. L9 engines only have 250 more warp and increase your thrust by 10 maybe 15% over L8 versions. Hardly something to write home about.
4. The current JT is a failed concept, especially since the skillset has been extrapolated from what Jenquai typically have, and what traders typically have. You then end up with something that is neither unique nor powerful in any way.

What would be needed to even consider playing it? Here is my JT changes manifesto:

Extra device slot
Give it as many device slots as a JE, while retaining the 4 weapon slots. (before ppl say that it should not be possible, consider that an explore based trader is handicapped to begin with - this would give it a minor something over other professions.)

Device 9, Engine 9, Reactor 9, Shield 8.
How to explain this...

Firstly it is only L8 engines that becomes L9 engines so it is not really a big deal - ask any high level Terran player.

Secondly it is something no other profession has. Unconventional and against the flow, but every little helps to make this profession somewhat different. Call this something that is added to make it a bit more attractive to pick.

L9 projectiles.
Cloak will not buff the damage like it buffs beam damage so it is not going to be a complete replacement. But this will give JT's something different to do with combat. Ask any L8 projectile using JE that projectiles and jenquai are quite a bit of fun.

And once again this would only be something the JT has, and no other profession.

Extra medic skill/damage reduction
Recharge shields skill alone is not enough reason to take a L8 shields medic over a more solid one that has L9 shields. Another medic skill that reduces damage rather than heals would be nice. Like a skill that reduces the next two hit's damage on target group member by 50% - for example. The idea behind this is that while the JT is frailer, it pumps out more healing/damage reduction than other traders.

Buff scan
Change scan to L7 - if you are desperate enough to take a Jenpie in your team it might as well boost your scan a decent bit.

Change cloak
Cloak is almost useles to the JT. Remove the normal cloak and give it an upgraded passive version of cloak that allows it to warp when cloaked like higher levels of cloak. Also, when devices and skills are used while cloaked they uncloak the ship for a short duration (like 1 second) after which it automatically recloaks. Same for firing weapons. Basically it is a more usable cloak for something that is in the heat of combat and would attract a lot more fire than say a JD or JE.

More activatable buffs
It needs an impressive number of useful activatable buffs like the JE, but not the same ones so not to overlap with it. Turbo weapons buffs that stack with already existing ones could be a nice incentive to have a JT in your group.

Even with all the above in mind to make it a more attractive pick, it lacks unique building niches.

Jenquai only equipment
I'm not sure if this is the case already, but Jenquai only equipment should be buildable only by Jenquai. This will obviously help the JT a fair bit. Jenquai only shields would instead just be progen restricted.

Buildable non-uber AA's
These would only be analyzable and buildable by JT's with it's build devices skill. They would have the wacky stats of typical AA's but not be overpowered or so rare.

So when someone finds a buildable AA they can sell it to a JT so he/she analyzes it, in the same way gene maps find their way to PS's.

JT-only recipe missions
Missions that reward you with recipes, only buildable by JT's.

Solo content
JT's require solo content in the same way miners can solo mine and warriors can solo combat. I think the TT is content doing a bit of combat and sitting in a station most of the time, but the JT is an explorer and probably needs some more pro-active content.

Perhaps special NPC's to accomodate JT's with Byakhee X 100 difficulty quests. Quests that require an immense amount of player interaction, materials, building and traveling.

5. About the JT, the main problem with it is summed up by one question:

Just what does it have over other professions?

No niche building really, it's build list is limited by being Jenquai. Though it does build reactors the cheapest overall.

L8 shields and recharge shields skill seems a bad combination (lot of mob fire). Also beams would work out poorly so the raid potential is limited.

Perhaps its only good combat advantage is the 25% reactor recharge skill. A skill which btw starts off giving 5% extra reactor capacity and only becomes noticably useful later on.

It's cloak is useless to the trader part of it, unlike the JE and JD which make good use of cloak for their mining and combat respectively.

To me, this profession is just a Jenquai explorer stripped of it's explorer skills and given the trader essentials - giving the class badly synched skills and a non-unique feel. Only for die-hard Jenquai beliebers....

How to fix it?

Give it something entirely unique that no other profession offers. Not just something little but something it can revolve around.

Build drones as mentioned in the design docs could be it but that has be ruled as impossible in the past by devs...

The biggest problem that the JT has is that she already has a full skill set, except for her L135 Affiliation skill.

Unless there's a balanced way for her to have more skills than everyone else, for each skill she gets, at this point, the devs will have to add and balance a skill for each of the other classes. The PT would be the exception to this, since they would get n+1 as they're one skill short of everyone else already. The other option is to take away an existing skill from the JT and replace it with a new skill, not shared by another class.

I could see the JT losing Build Engines, for a unique skill, but I suspect that would be unbalanced in that all engine building would be done by Terran toons, as build engines really isn't apropriate to either the Explorer or Defender.

Personally it wouldn't bother me for Terrans to do all the engine building, my TW found it practical to have both builds maxed, my JT said she has no interest in building engines, she wants to do reactors & comps. and after 150 weapons.

7. Played the PP a lot...

5 wep slots, recharge shields, L9 reactor and L5 critical targeting is the main concern.

This is overpowered because the damage output is almost the same as a TW but on top of that it has recharge shields.

So it's really just a 4th warrior class that is more useful in large numbers than any other profession, by far. Ideal for raids.

Somehow I have a feeling this won't change until a server matures and cookiecutter raid lineups consisting almost entirely of PP's are only acceptable at which point it will be nerfed. Then I get to say the famous ''I told you so'' line...

8. My friend at EA says they are waiting till the emulator is ready before shutting it down...

They are going to send SWATs into Kyp's basement where he hides during daytime. He is then arrested and offered a deal to be let free if he works for EA, something Kyp cannot refuse. But in secret this is what Kyp has been fantasizing about all along. He outsmarts EA and all of us...

No, you're right, if they cuss its their fault, I imagine they'll use ignore on you to solve the problem. However, it is abuse to just report people who aren't guilty, which is what it looked like you were saying, seeing as it is what you said.
Didn't really say that but like Heirku said - people like to swear so there is plenty of ban potential and I will be filling out forms all day, for my pleasure.

Like during live, I got a few people's names changed by reporting them because they contained 'the' and 'of' type of words - all were L135+ and ended up with silly random names chosen by a GM :)

Funny thing an ingame so-called friend once told me that some ****** reported his guildie's name and it got changed. Did a silent evil laughter that moment :D
*checks himself* I am not a river, and I have no pee around me, therefore I do not give the slightest damn.
Symbolism?

Oh wait, you're too mad to realize that. Tyran -11 : River Kyp -15 (since it's not me)

Now rly going...
10. Just back from IRL farming so late response but...

C DEL you obviously don't understand this. Heirku is right.

As for Kyp...

Should a person be banned for loving to try to get people banned who break the rules? There is no abuse there, not even if I enrage people enough to swear in public channels. It is their responsibility that they swear and if anything the GM's should be happy that there is a watchful eye helping zem enforce ze regime.

(I'd like to also mention I was doing geological surveying at a certain Kyp river the other day. You know what I did? I pee'd in it.)

Going back to farming again now

11. The dev team probably needs to be expanded with a dedicated balance team who deal with actual game balance.

This is because an item dev obviously is not for balancing as Riia made clear.

Also, a dev who makes a crazy scout sniper weapon also has nothing to do with balance (*cough* terran-lead-dev *cough*).

Same for whoever is responsible for the blackbeard equipment - no balance taken into account.

Ideally balance devs do not believe that WoW has great balance, and are or have been high end pvp players at dota, hon, guildwars or any semi-decently balanced game.

WTB devs that know what balance is...
