  1. We have three servers:

The Play Server: this is the server that we play on. It is cheat free except for the occasional exploits that pop up that we do our best to fix. At the time of posting it has 217 players on. During the weekdays it usually bottoms out at about 75 people at late night and peaks at around 220-250.

The Public Test Realm Server: this is the server where players can help developers by testing things they have been told to test. How it works is the devs will upload code or content to the PTR server and the players can help test it. It was specifically designed to help us test raids, which we haven't quite gotten to yet.

The Developer Server: this is the server where developers test things on their own. Players are not able to access it.

Both the PTR Server and the DEV server are run on the same machine.

The emulation progress is not complete yet, but we have most things working.

most skills, mining, refining, jobs, manufacturing, mob combat, missions, docking, the three unreleased classes, several new sectors mostly for the unreleased classes (though any class can go there), faction, looting, I'm sure there's some other stuff I'm forgetting

Anyway, the game is not yet perfect, but we're doing what we can to make it like it was so any feedback is much appreciated.

You can register to play at net-7.org. It's free, though donations are accepted. We use the donations to pay for our two servers.

If you have any more questions let us know and we'd be glad to answer them for you. See you in game :P

  2. so I was just banned by some random user on teamspeak. They came in speaking a differently language then added themselves to admin. Apparently most other users were banned as well and our channels were deleted. Kind of annoying but no big deal :)

  3. You've just wasted my time and made me regret ever donating and I'll never be donating again. Thanks!

I'm getting a little tired of this threat... Donations keep the server up and allow us all to play EnB. One mission wasted your time so you want to take it out on the whole project and all the people who play on it? Byakhee isn't the only person working on this project and even if he was, an unfinished optional mission should not be the cause of you stopping donations.

  4. how often do people take the money people trade them for transfers?

seems a bit too impersonal for my taste. I mean sure it would make sense in the context for you to be able to transfer cash from station to station or ship to ship, but is that what we really want? This game is about community and this command means you don't have to interact as much with other people.

  5. well remember in live fishbowls only happened once a day if that. So the idea that there's not enough raids doesn't really fly. I could definitely see a problem with ammo comp drop rates being too low or FBs requiring too many people.

I am against adding ammo comps to a soloable mob but am sympathetic to those players who can't get the comps to supply their guns. I think once the drop rates are increased and the FB trash mobs are separated from the master this will no longer be a problem. We need to make sure that having to make ammo runs is not a constant problem for players because that would be very annoying.

  6. dynamic trade routes are what I'm most excited for when it comes to adding onto live! If trade run values changed frequently and there were many options of trade runs it would make trading so much more interesting. No more back and forth somerled to prasad, maybe have some zweihander to net-7 or some paren station to earth. That fact that sometimes you'd score on a trade route profit and other times it'd be meh would also make it more interesting :(

  7. Wondering something about Paramis as well as the many other sectors not open in live,

Aren't they going to slow things down?

They were not in live, so nobody is going to miss them. Also, I RLY think they are best for a post-launch update.

There's only a few sectors for the three extra professions that need to be there, probably around 3-6.

But Paramis, Mercury, etc., thats seems like taking too much on your plate...

Well the development team is split a few ways

there are the coders who do not touch any part of the new sectors except maybe the occasional coding bug that affects them (like the logging out in a new sector sends you to Net-7 bug).

there are the content developers (like me)

and there are the floater devs (like merlin and suricata, ores and mobs)

us content devs are the ones who handle the new sectors and to be honest we really aren't all that busy. Most of what we do is fix content bugs since most of the content has been added. We also add missions at times, but leaving the new sectors on the plate is not distracting from other dev duties.

I am not totally happy with the new Jenquai sectors and I can't imagine you would be either. I don't know if players would miss them were they gone, but they have a place in this universe and it will be a challenge for us to make them as awesome as the sectors in live. But eventually they will get there. We will try our best to make sure they fit in the universe and who knows, maybe some day they will be better than the sectors of live.

  8. wouldn't another alternative be to make getting red dragon faction more fun?

more missions and repeatable missions to help the RD? attacking chavez convoys/herbal remedy farms. infiltrating the chavez

maybe doing a mission for earthcorps then turning on them in favor of the RD?

instead of just killing mobs over and over?

I remember the first time I was able to get in to BBW. It was a great feeling of reward for my hard work and I don't want us to rid of that.

  9. 1. I'm guessing factioned gates will return as soon as we get all the mob factions worked out.

    2. The Tada-o gate will be like it is for a while until we get all the scripts working to have a progressing raid style event. After that it will probably turn into a trigger raid like it was in live.

    3. Progens are definitely not as cool a Jenquai.

    4. As for leveling: not exactly sure, it seems pretty balanced now. We might need to look at the exp gained from doing jobs to make sure they are balanced but for the most part it seems pretty similar to live.

  10. it took me about a year to hit 150 in live, but I really enjoyed myself before I hit 150.

I didn't spend all my time running trade runs over and over, that would be boring!

I was fighting, mining, exploring, talking and doing all sorts of stuff.

If you guys are concerned about hitting 150 because it's the fun part, maybe the problem is you don't find the lower levels fun enough? I'm sure not all of you want to wait a year before 150 but if we devs provide enough lower level content I could see the ride to 150 as being a fun and enjoyable one. If you really want to get to 150 you could play for 10 hours a day, but I don't recommend that. Take your time, enjoy the ride. It may take a while but if you enjoy it, no problems then. If you're not enjoying the lower levels as much as you could, let us know.

  11. I only play a few hours a week, nothing like i did in live. Even though its nice to have E&B back, i just cant get into the game when some devs think that its OK to have a mob 1 shot a fully equipped toon from 20 K away, so Im just kinda playing the game more as a break from STO.

I feel like this is a bit of an exaggeration unless maybe you're a JE fighting arenzael the master...

if it's not and you really feel this way let us know the where and why. We want to keep this game fun for you.

  12. Does anyone have info or things they remember about this raid?

I never did it in live but am preparing to recreate it.

Here is the little that I know:

It occurred in Kitara's Veil near the mordana tabernacle.

It involved killing a number of mordana cruisers and fighters.

was it on a spawn timer or was it triggered by an item?

was there an order you were supposed to kill the mordana in? like kill cruiser one then cruiser two?

What were the drops off the mordana?

Defender's Pride, Defenders Doumaru, Ghosts Edge. What else?

Any and all information you can provide please. And if you can confirm any of the things I've mentioned here that would be helpful too.

  13. "I *STILL* have the Betty Ford Clinic on speed dial, or am currently wrecking my fifth marriage due to my obsessive gaming. Oh, and did I tell you I hexa-box all my raid geared maxed toons really well...? "

I would probably be considered a hardcore gamer in live though I only had one maxed character despite playing for a year and a half. To be fair though I had more than enough high end gear on that character (my JE). I was mostly just collecting gear and slowly leveling my 4 other characters.

    interesting poll though

  14. When it comes to inadequate testing I think you're partly right. We could do a bit more testing, but at the same time it's really hard to test at times. There are SO MANY simple things you would think us devs would notice, but we often don't. I for one don't really play the game too much, so I don't get to test a lot of popular equipment to make sure it's working. I know that part of why I rarely play is whenever I start playing I hear about a bug or remember something I need to work on. I usually just sit around answering player's questions rather than actually leveling my characters.

Whenever coders make a change there are tons of things that could go wrong and sometimes they do. It's very difficult to test all these factors. Even when our coders test their new code on their own servers it doesn't always transfer over perfectly to the play server.

We do like honest feedback. Good feedback is not about agreeing with everything we say nor is it about putting us down. When you make good feedback you should think about how the changes affect you and how it affects other players and the game as a whole. This update may have made the game harder for you, but for the game as a whole I think it was a step in the right direction to where mobs are balanced and items have value. It wasn't perfect but it was necessary.

I know these new updates made the game harder, but their purpose for the most part was to standardize mobs. Before we didn't really have a system for loot tables. teams just populated the tables as we needed them. This made the loot tables very unbalanced, with some devs having different opinions of how rare drops should be. Some mobs were dropping very little, some were dropping mass quantities of items. the items dropped often differed in level range. These new changes ruined the best farming spots in the game by making them more in line with other hunting spots but it also boosted the mobs with terrible drop rates to be more reasonable.

We will continue balancing the mob drops and their strengths.
