  1. The only thing I read about multiple toons from http://www.net-7.org/Net_7_Entertainment_Code_of_Conduct_v5.1.pdf is the logging in of multiple toons from a single account. I haven't seen anything stating a limit to the number of accounts a person may log at once.

If my use of 6 accounts at once is a violation of anything and a content lead tells me, I will immediately stop doing it. I was under the impression that it was just the limitations of the computer/network you were on.

But as to the OP's question, I find the logitech gaming keyboard software more than adequate for my needs while boxing 6 toons.
  2. Thanks for all the info on Macs, linux and unix, but please keep the discussion to character skills so I can update my spreadsheet accordingly. I find it handy at least and thought I would share it.

As far as the update to it, that will have to wait until tonight when I have the time to edit and post it. I woke up late this morning.

If anyone knows of any other classes that need updating, please let me know, especially PS, TE and JD since I don't currently have one of those.

BTW, I found an ores list, the other spreadsheet has been turned into an access database, by the time I'm done with it you should be able to
    1) Create a character
    2) Choose his/her class
    3) Choose their build skills
    4) Choose from a list of possible builds
    5) See all build components needed from unrefined ores to components to final build
    6) Select which final builds you have scanned to make for a quick reference guide while in-game.

Let me know if there is anything else you would like implemented while I'm still designing it. I haven't decided on a final format so the end-state is still fluid.

Wait. What's this thread about? Whoops... I have no idea how I got on that rant. Uh, neat-looking character sheet btw. :)

Haha, thanks, I was about to push this thread back that direction myself. I browse arstechnica.com when I want to think about more geekly pursuits.
  4. I use a logitech keyboard and have assigned key combinations to different keys. Running all 6 of my accounts on one computer I can alt+tab through all 6 for a rotation if I need to focus on one, I have a button setup to alt+tab through every toon and focus on nearest mob and attack, I have one setup to login each toon with username as password. So far it's worked well for me, no real hiccups except when I focus on one or two toons at a time to knock out class missions, then I have to do things manually.

On the JT you're missing her Reactor Optimization skill. Currently she also gets L9 Engine, L8 Device. Otherwise it looks just fine.

I forgot what is currently in game, isn't on the net-7 character planner. JE's just got a new skill similar to menace as well. Looks like I'll have to change my spec around some to accomodate.

I'll update the spreadsheet and repost it tomorrow morning when I'm able to get in-game and check out the JT and JE. I moved it up to my initial post. as well.
  6. Updated it a little bit:

Made more navigable (is that a word?)
    Added eye candy
Made more presentable, added a few polishing touches.
Changed from macro enabled excel to regular excel since macros aren't needed.

    Hope you enjoy.

I'll also be starting on a build list including ores, refined, components and everything needed in order to do a full build of the device. and let you click a box so you can see what you can build and on who. That's a bit more of an undertaking, so as soon as I have a partial working draft going for level 9 builds I'll post it for more input.

Last Edit I swear. I would still like descriptions of each activated and passive ability so I can create a tooltip that pops up when the mouse is hovered. And also, I don't have much time today on my lunch, has there been a completed ores list posted somewhere that I can plagiarize for my uses?
  7. I know there's already a character builder on the net-7 portal, but it doesn't allow saving any builds or comparing multiple toons to compliment each other while boxing. So while I was bored today I created this. It currently shows my builds, but I haven't locked anything on it if anyone is interested in it.

    edit 3/14/2011
    Added JS Reactor Optimization
Verified Skills for Terrans and JD
converted to .ods for use with openoffice

    edit 3/17/2011
    updated TS skills tree
no afterburn or null factor shield skills visible in game.

    edit 4/10/2011
Added a required level to attain skill level column to Progen Warrior
I'll try to add the same to the rest of the classes 1 per day as time permits.

    edit 4/23/2011
    So with this update we have the required level column associated with skill rank for the following classes;
    Progen Privateer
    Terran Enforcer
    Terran Trader
    Terran Scout
    Jenquai Seeker
    Jenquai Explorer

I just realized I didn't account for minimum starting level to take the skill unlock missions. I'll take care of that in the morning.

    edit 5/7/2011
fixed the levels for alternate weapon skills to match what is currently in game.
  8. One thing I've noticed with the random crashes is that they only happen to me when I try to gate or dock before I complete my warp. I don't know if that's a common occurrence with the rest of the player base, but that's what I see.

I haven't participated in combat enough to find a common characteristic with those crashes while surrounded by mobs, but could be similar, trying to warp and do other things at the same time that causes the client to become unstable.
  9. I was looking into this yesterday, if you can make an adjustment to the game so it creates a log file somewhere of damage being dealt, buff start up with duration and that kind of thing; I may be able to talk one of the guys who actually works on advanced combat tracker to create an add-on that would make it compatible with E&B. Less work for ya'lls already overloaded plates.

That would also answer Maniac's question in the next thread.

  10. I would love to mod the client interface, but the problem is that we're literally unable to. I'd be willing to tempt the wrath of the devil, EA, but we don't have the source code that was used to create the client, which we would need in order to make any changes to the UI. We might be able to do this via a slash command, but it would be hard to make it not clunky and hard to use, as we can only output text.

Also, there might have been something to indicate the times remaining on buffs back in the day that we don't know how to use yet. I can't quite remember anymore. I know the buff icons would flash and then disappear, but I think we have that working already.

If we don't have source code for it what about an add-on program? For instance EQ2 has Advanced Combat Tracker which can be configured to show buffs, timers, rotations and notify you when they're about to run out. All that would need it an output from the client to a log file and the add-on would read it as written.

  11. What do the powers that be think about possibly implementing buff timers so the players can see when buffs are going to be dropped? On the same note, would it be too difficult to code in the ability to see who we have buffs on so we can make sure to rotate buffs accordingly? It would add a new possible role to heavy device users in a raid to make sure that their groups are properly buffed.

  12. I've found that Pluto>Akeron>Saturn>ABA>Earth has some good stuff (forget what the trade goods is you use, but there is only one at Pluto and it goes to Earth). My TS can get 50-60k trade exp on that run. The problem is there is no goods for Earth>Pluto. Best you can do is Pluto>Earth, then pick up some news and drop it off at Net7 station on your way back to Pluto. Not sure if the detour to N7 is worth the time spent docking and undocking for how little news nets you compared to the Pluto>Earth part of the run though.

This is the one I'm running on my tiny toons atm. My Terran Trader just hit OL 31 TL 15, Progen Privateer OL 20 TL 7, and Jenquai Seeker OL 20 TL 8. I'm getting 1,500 trade experience per item with each toon having a cargo capacity of 30 items that's 45k experience each run and about 65k credits per toon. All three have negotiate rank 3. I'm tempted to try boxing all my toons on this run at the beginning. It's building the TLs pretty quickly atm. My TT is still getting a level every other run, and my two lower toons are getting almost 2 TLs per run and it's taking me about 15 minutes to do a full run earth-> pluto and pluto->earth at 3500 warp.

  13. What messes it up is triggering the raid and not completing it. Also if you get to the boss wave and kill the boss, then loot and warp off without killing the rest of the raid it gets messed up.

I remember this being a fun endless loop in live. I organized many 2-4 hour mordana camps trying to get a couple pieces of rare loot that guildies wanted.

  14. No,

It is the excellent reactor to have it check for.

The whole idea about Agrippa Technology is developing in game contacts between players to collectively advance. Most of the required items if not all will be custom blueprints or researching mob-dropped only items - not shop brought. You are going to have to source the reactor in game from somewhere, but it is possible as other Privateers have already done this stage.

Non-Agrippa Technology missions are there for the Solo player, but none of these gift blueprints for a potentially better future...

I'm primarily a solo player but still interact with the server audience. Why play an Massively Multiplayer Online game to just play by yourself? From what I understand there are 2 ways to reset your skill points. Reroll, or have a PS use call forward on you. In a game where SPs are hard to get and semi-impossible to reallocate is it ...I don't want to say fair but maybe justified?... to require someone to use 10 SPs (for level 5 build reactor) to experience all the content?

I've only played with the character builder shortly and don't remember if I had sufficient points put into build reactors for my PP. It could be this was one of my classes that had the extra SP to spare after I allotted for everything I had wanted in my main builds. Are there other missions for other races/classes with similar restrictions that I should plan appropriately before I just "forfeit" the mission?

Nevermind, this is one of those characters with extra points to spend. After getting everything I wanted and maxing build reactors I still had 19 SPs left to play with before getting into levels above 150.

  15. To tell you the truth I have no idea, as I never played WoW or any other MMO other then this... I don't expect a blow by blow account as to what's going on. Was just stating that I don't know the whole story, so I will make assumptions as most people do.

From my experience in WoW, EQ2, SWG, WAR, and a few other MMOs the decision is announced and implemented usually in some form of update notes that will take place either that day or the following day. The fact that some people are complaining about proposed changes being discussed a week before being implemented is mindblowing to me.

  16. We generally don't need you to test drops, because we have a team of beta testers do it whom have the ability to respawn the mob and continue on and get proper results much more quickly.

And no, we intentionally hid things because we want you to discover it on your own. You're all welcome to make your own databases and share them, but we want to encourage the community to do things like this, not rely on a direct database connection to read out all the details of the game to you.

I enjoy playing around with spreadsheets. If there's enough interest I'll make one to reflect all drops for the playerbase, I would need to find some way to host it though, but I figure it'll take me maybe 2-3 weeks to get a working draft running and then I could make a weekly update with player feedback.

And just so you know, my motivation is purely for selfish reasons. I enjoy knowing where everything drops and with 6 toons, I figure I'll need to get familiar with the different race/class restrictions :o

  17. 125% was retail max

I've been getting a lot of 135-137% lvl 1 gradient lasers off the drones in TT starter sector at Nav 6 the last few days. There's no difference between them and the 85% one I got the other day, but still, I imagine higher level items would have a higher spread.

  18. Does anybody know how to go on with the DeWinter mission if you've accidentally sold the data? I cannot drop the mission, and I cannot complete it without the data.

You can either create a new TT on another account to accept the mission and trade it to you or have another player do it. That's what I did and it worked for me.

  19. Cant bitch about the President if you didn't vote...

Overall I like the changes being implemented and proposed. I've been following this emu for about the last 3 years, but just got into it the last few weeks and am taking my time. For the staff not getting paid and still communicating with the playerbase as much as they do is awesome. Maybe I'm just jaded by SOE's lack of communication, but actually having content devs post as often as they do on these boards is, IMO, amazing.

Anyway, the whole point of this was due to the quote portion above. Sure you can, you can always bitch if forced to choose between the lesser of two evils.

  20. Stray! Nice to see you back bud. Yeah most of us played on 56k Modems back then too! haha - Game is smooth and having a blast. Ask in market channel for a Static member to get you an invite.

I played for a while this morning before work, gawd I feel like a n00b all over again! I spent much time in the new player chat. Although, I remember while playing live, I had someone in the guild get onto me for asking n00b questions all the time shortly after I joined, so maybe it's just me. ;)

I appreciate the invite, but I'm remaining guildless currently so I can help to ensure I don't get completely hooked back into the game. I have other hobbies now like ice hockey and case modd'ing I'm playing around with, but computers are still my weakness which is also why I'm limiting my time in game as much as I am. Anyway, I'll see ya'll in game sometime, feel free to shoot a hello if you see us warp past eachother sometime :)

  21. So I bit off a bit more than I thought. I didn't expect the client to not have resizeable windows and thought I'd be able to mouse over to hit buttons on individual toons. Well, the results are, 3 days after I signed up, I now have a level 2 PW.

All I have to say is...Wow, it's nice to be back. Unfortunately it'll be another week and a half before I get to login again and see what the Privateer offers. I'm looking forward to a nice slow progression through the levels to see all the content again and savor it.

Thanks to all the devs who have made this happen!!
