  1. There are 6 different background images for each race

They are shown on the Signature page and each on is a clicky button... click the image you want as your backgound

Is there any way to resize them? I'm getting greedy, but it would be nice to sandwhich a few together for multiple toons rather than creating a sig that takes up half a page :) Right now there is no limit to sig size/images, so it could get out of hand.

  2. I have never had this pop up when i start the game...

all i get is the "i agree" screen to accept and follow the rules.... hehe

    ROCK ON!!

I get this message on three seperate installs, it mus be from the specific demo file I used or something.

It pops up every single time I load the game, along with the "I Agree" screen first.

  3. OK, I don't know what it is, but without showing any actual content change the "last update" value of this thread changes multiple times throughout the day and therefore constantly shows up in my "view new content" list. I don't think it's my browser as it's the same on my work PC, my home PC, and even when I use my wife's Macbook. I'm just curious why that is? I have to think that's the driving reason why the "Views" value of this thread is so high.

I think it gets changed everytime someone posts a vote? Was wondering the same.

  4. I think either 1 or 3.

The problem with some of these though is that it promotes botting to grind out more xp. If you could pimp out your char purely through XP grinding, people would be inclined to bot 24/7. =/

Maybe more hull points or soft stats would be neat. I.E. You can buy 50 more units of reactor capacity, 3 units of recharge, 50 units of hull damage, etc. That would probably require client modification though so I'm guessing that's out.

Btw, here is a fantastic solution to the problem: http://wiki.ffxiclopedia.org/wiki/Category:Merit_Points

I think FFXI nailed this one on the head. It keeps people inclined to play once they hit the level cap.

  5. Right click on task bar and highlight restore.

I have the same issue on Vista

Also tried that, no dice =/ It's stubborn as hell. It rarely happens, I'm not sure exactly what does it, but normal alt-tabbing between windows doesn't seem to break it, just when it gets 100% minimized. It can "ghost" Aero style, whatever that is called, and be fine, but if that window actually dissapears, poof, can't get it back. Oddly the VM client running net7 through xp is stable as a rock regardless of how much tabbing or minimizing I subject it to ;)

  6. "I run enb windowed, and if the window gets at all minimized, or hidden (like the show desktop button), I can't get it back up, and have to force crash the client."

Just open up task manager and switch to or alt tab to EnB widow should show up again.

I'll try the switch to. Alt-tab will highlight the border of where it should be, but it still can't get it up. Needs some GUI Viagra. It looks as if it's trying to restore the window, but just refuses to do so.

  7. Oversight from an image snapshot during a time when they were being tested on the developer server has caused this. Updates come across in the entirety, little issues are likely to occur at startup but this was quickly fixed. The reason why the DEV didn't post after doing it here was he had to go to sleep being a UK developer but made it very clear in game the mobs had been pacified on both Progen channels and New Players; and let other developers know this on TeamSpeak3.

Moral of story, be in TeamSpeak3! Or Progen chat channel as thats' where I'm just going to lurk with my alts in future.

[byakhee on a works computer in the UK so unable to log in here]

this was fixed pretty promptly yesterday. I ninja warped into the station, thinking I was slick and not getting splatted. Upon exit, I was inside the graphic icon of the Hiveship with my 6k progen sig. "Oh that's neat, they must have fixed it."

Thanks for the quick fix on this one.

  8. Works great, no issues whatsoever with one exception.

I run enb windowed, and if the window gets at all minimized, or hidden (like the show desktop button), I can't get it back up, and have to force crash the client.

Not a major issue, just try not to go all crazy!

Also running VMware with win xp through my win 7 box, and it's an easy alt-tab to flip between the two.

  9. I prefer keeping the non-market stuff off as well but not to be draconian about it - the player base ATM simply isn't so large that *some* extra chat is too much of a distraction. And answering "I can build that at F7, bring parts" is, IMO, not off-topic. "Help me complete this mission" and the like, however, is.

I like this common sense, +1. "I can build that" addresses the need and closes the loop.

  10. Maybe it's a server community thing. Market channel on Galileo (as in, during Live) was typically the "general socialization with buying and selling on the side sometimes" channel.

What's a Galileo?!? (add Andramada eliteness here:_______):)

Linking to server pop is probably why there were regional differences, Andromeda, you'd get scolded for it  the channel was busy enough as it was. It's also handy if you go afk for 10 mins, can come back, do a quick scan or Market to see if you missed anything, whereas with chatter stuff gets lost if it isnt' instantly addressed.

  11. while everyone would welcome a bigger vault, it is also one of the harder things to impliment due to hardware limitations, the more vault space you have, the more hardware space you need to store that information. While I don't know how much space enb vaults take up, i doubt its a small amount, especially as more accounts and toons are created, more people return to the game, and so on.

I believe the vault size requests have required modifying the client, which typically means "can't do it."

I don't see storage being an issue, storage is essentially free now (picked up a TB for $70 this weekend), granted server drives are more expensive than the retail consumer drives.

  12. The abbreviation thread made me think of how "PST" is something that should get used more. In comparison to Live, the market channel has turned into a place for private conversations which is annoying to be honest, as legit requests can get lost in spam.

"WTB: Lvl 5 Modely Y, pst"

"Oh I can make that for you"

    "Ok where"

    "F7, do you have parts"

"No I don't have parts, wut partz"

    "Enbdatabase.com"

    "check enbdb"

    "ebdattabazes.com"

    ... 2 mins later

    "ok I have parts where?"

"F7, what did you want again?"

    "Lvl 5 model Y"

"Oh ok let me see if I have that"

    ... 1 min later

"I can't build that can someone else build it?"

    "build what"

    "wut?"

    "Lvl 5 Model y"

    "do you have parts?"

"I can build that, do you have parts?"

This conversation should have ceased to exist on market channel after "WTB: Lvl 5 model Y, pst". The PST means stop talking on market channel, and stop cluttering up the relevant requests that should be there. With a couple hundred people this isn't a huge problem, but if we start pushing 500-1000, you can't use the market channel as a place to have conversations, it just turns into a spam fest, and relevant market requests get lost.

With the slower levelling process, I'm expecting a lot more low/mid level builds will be relevant whereas people were likely more inclined to use vendor gear previously due to the short life span of gear. Keeping it clean should allow both buyers and sellers to have a more efficent place to do business.

General is a great place to chat about the weather, etc.

    /2 cents.

  13. on your 2nd point this isn't a full business with checks and balances. These are amateurs doing things in their free time.

Ouch, I would guess most of the dev staff are college + level IT professionals. Backups aren't rocket science, nor is duplicating a database, or managing a user list.

Amateurs would still be looking at a demo CD sitting on a table with no clue where to go.

  14. Short summery, that are a lot of dead accounts clogging the database and it needs to be cleaned up.

Ugh, please don't tell me that you honestly believe a wipe is necessary to clean out old accounts. It also should have nothing to do with new hardware.

Take it out of the game world, and into the business world.

    1) Old accounts - look at last login date, delete all > 60 or 90 days, whatever they decide is old. If they don't know which accounts are old, which have residual dev rights that shouldn't, then they need better account management tools.

    2) New hardware - restore the player database to the new hardware. You think a business has to delete its Active Directory when they move to a new box?

Saying that a full purge is necessary due to either one of these reasons is just wrong. Significant changes to the database structure or a new database altogether are more logical. Hell maybe they just want more people exploring noob content.

All of that aside, I could care less about a wipe, but let's not use bad rationale as to why.
