  1. I'm not sure if anyone cares anymore, but in live there were no shortcut keys for these because it made making macros too easy.

well... epic fail then as macros did whole trade run's AND explorer jobs, combat farming for specific comps or mining & selling 24/7. nothing has changed client side so same macros can be used in emu even.

as for hotkeys gate/dock. write macro that does simple mouse click at x/y.

  2. Ton of Guild members, including me, are getting this INV-300 error again.

    What causes this?

Net7SSL crashed again probably. They should replace it with simple apache/php as only purpose for it seems to be to verify user/pass and get token to log into server.

  3. just a small note on the win 7 stuff it seems that 1/2 of win 7 types the install works fine w/o compatiblity mode and on the other 1/2 they have to toggle it

not sure why that is but some installs take and some you need to tweak it via compatiblity mode ..so those who have the game working w/o it prob don't have to worry about this tweak

compatiblity mode is evil. as is vista/win7 UAC as it allows users to turn itself off (which so many idiots do).

to track down the problem, you need to get UAC settings, install path for Net7 and EnB and .exe settings. install path is important in vista/net7. also all kind of malware/virus catchers might interfere as proxy does some client memory patching.

  4. i would say, given my expertise in Drupal, anything that does not need custom code related directly to the game or tools (net-7 account management, character planner, maps, etc) or the forum.

Why you want to keep old net-7 as it is (redirect to new domain) ? it would be ugly. even uglier than current setup.

so that means basically content, news, faqs etc and anything else you can think of that does not exist as custom code, but exists as a module already in Drupal.

news/fags better served as forum stickies maybe. it's trivial for script to fetch content from there.

as for you (wish)list, only remotely useful would be gallery. devs already have mantis and probably hidden forum where all the action happens.

if people send me a list of things that could be useful or are needed, i can compile a module list and say whats possible and whats not.

In this post and earlier posts, you say that 'anything goes as long as it does not need custom code'. Is Drupal really that hard to extend ?

    ;-)

If anyone is gonna switch portal framework, then first thing they need to do, is to fit their old code to new framework. In drupal, that would be module(s). It's pretty easy in any of them, just meet minimum requirements and rest can be as sphagetti as you like.

If it would be done as you suggest (move net-7 to new domain, use link in drupal for redirect), it would not be new portal, it would be yet another one and you would end up with 3 landing pages (drupal, net-7, forum's). I thought that changing portal would make it easier to use, not harder.

  5. so you would still use net-7 to edit your accounts, see the galaxy map, etc.

there would not be much of code rewriting.

the only things net-7 would not need to do, is content - FAQs, news, links, files, etc.

that wouldn't require recoding Drupal or net-7... just disable the code.

it's not actually replacing net-7 if you get my drift.

What areas in portal would Drupal be responsible for ?

  6. net-7 repo is down.

database has no updates since december 2009.

Windows machine running a SVN with Berkeley DB??

that's a bit... old and insecure. try the more modern and robust GIT in a linux environment.

With the last (and only, and now dead) split, emu team got scared of donations running low, so emu is not open-source anymore and database will not be updated. enb-classic in sourceforge is only source/db available currently.

  7. Somehow I'm still not able to play in wine-1.1.34, so I have to wonder what SSL are you using on your 1.1.34?
in the name of Megan, why do you have 'Local Cert' selected ?

    export WINEPREFIX=$HOME/.wine-enb-clean

    winetricks gdiplus vcrun2008sp1 mono24

wine --version # should return 1.1.34

wine explorer.exe /desktop=enb,1024x768 Launcher.exe # clear 'local ip' box in launcher window

this is all it takes for me

OpenSSL lib version does not matter.

  8. I carefully installed wine-1.1.34 as it's own prefix, and now I still keep getting the INV-300 problem when trying to log in. Damn.

fixme:d3d:IWineD3DDeviceImpl_CreateSwapChain The app requests more than one back buffer, this can't be supported properly. Please configure the application to use double buffering(=1 back buffer) if possible

    Peety

INV-300 is related to this error (with version wine-1.3.5-275-g737bb14)

    err:wininet:NETCON_secure_connect SSL_connect failed: 12045

this is the error you get with wine-1.1.34, but still be able to play

err:wininet:NETCON_secure_connect couldn't verify the security of the connection, 18

    d3d is Direct3D and harmless.

In your launch script, instead of running Launcher.exe, run 'wine --version'

  9. Ever wonder why you come into a hulk field and there is only one hulk left? That's hulk tripping or roid tripping. People used to do it in live to monopolize spawn points and it looks like bad habits have followed into the EMU.
wasnt there a despawn timer in live for roids/hulks for such thing ? I mean, if roid was first opened, then despawn timer started (say 5min) and it it was up, then the roid went poof whether player had it open or not.
  10. It seems to me you are running around this forum doubting everything that has been done. Think I see a wanna be programmer that has no clue.

currently anyone who says that they run windows app on smartphone is probably streaming display from their PC (using VNC for example) as 99.9% smartphones has ARM cpu and wine cant (yet) run x86 programs on ARM. There is WINE for ARM port*, but to get your program working, you need to recompile it.

  11. LOL ... It's not fake, and you make me sorry to have shared it with this community. And if you are not familiar with the development platforms for the Android how are you a professional Android developer. I will tell you it is based on Windows DDK and a mirror driver.

so basicly it's VNC client on android and EnB client is still running in your PC, right ?
  12. You'd have to find an Apple App that lets you emulate the windows environment. Having not owned a mac or apple since the IIe I have no idea about the name of an application, but I know they are out there. :)

whats out there is Wine/Cedega app for Intel Mac's. iPad/iPhone are using ARM processor so one would first need intel-arm emulator. Easyer to write new client tbh.
  13. As I said, I'm trying to look at it from a new players point of view and "suggest" things to make it more appealing to those that don't like certain aspects, e.g. Travel time.

traveling to Joves (as noob PW) or queuing up for Jobs are not activities for noobie player, but experienced players that try to think like noobies (which will never work if i may add). Noobie goes where mission takes them... period.

if warping takes too long, then give a noobie a better engine.
