  1. Just an idea i got from reading the old topic.

Sence some people are concerned about weapons / gear that you would get from pvp, is it possible to add a new type of damage and make the pvp-gear only affect that kind of damage?

For example, everybody starts with a lvl 1 pvpshield that has xxx pvp hitpoints. The only way to get thru this shield is to use a pvpweapon that use a weapon that provides the pvp damagetype. That weapon does zero dmg of the other damage types ( like plasma etc... ) That way, thoose weapons / gear gets totally useless in pve.

When you kill a player, you would get tokens and with thoose tokens you could buy upgrades for your ship for example a lvl 2 pvp shield with more pvp hitpoints.

Or maybe this is to hard to implent?

  2. While this is certainly true, it still doesn't tell me why there shouldn't be a gate to Akeron from Saturn.

In a way the game is build around the fact that Staurn was the last planet in the solar system, the beginners zone and certain early mission areas are balanced around it. There is no need to complicate the early levels by shoving in more sectors a new character has to move through.

Anyone who wants to access Akeron the right way is free to go through Pluto, as there is a gate now.

I have wondred myself about the strange order of gates and sectors and the idea isn't bad in itself, don't get me wrong there. But then I started thinking about how this game is built up from the beginner areas and that it might have to be re-written to accommodate the new routes. I might over-estimate the volume of work needed, but I really think that development ressources should go to other areas before modifying the core.

We are not modifying the core, we are changing the emu so it's following the core lore. And from the beginner point of view. Sol is the beginners area really, so where we put the gate to the "more experience players" sector doesnt really matter. All i suggested was follow the original docs and place the gate in Pluto. And belive me, it doesnt take much work to do it.

  3. Well one big issue I see with this discussion is that too many people are thinking too linear when it comes to where planets should be in comparison to the other planets. For instance, right now, Mars and Saturn are on the opposite side of the sun from Jupiter, so actually at this moment in time, it would be a shorter trip to reach Jupiter from Mars than it would from Saturn.

Usually Venus and Mercury are closer to us than Mars, but in about 8 years or so Mars will be in an almost identical orbit with the sun as we are so Mars will be about half as close to us as Venus and Mercury.

Yeah, it's true that planets move in their orbits but tbh, it's just a game and we dont want to complicate it to much. But i doubt when we somday can travel to Mercury, i doubt that we are going to take the scenic route thru Pluto. Perhaps we should just accept when we gate from sector x to sector y, we arrive at their orbital spaces. Keep in mind that we dont land on the planet itself unless we travel to it.

Shuzun: Why i suggested that we move Akerons Gate from Saturn to Pluto is simple. According to the original dev documents, the location of the gate was near Pluto, i can give you a quote from the devdoc.

    "So IC found out

about the gate, and the earth government, the precursor to EC, and the Progens

decided to get they selves a slice and went to war again to get some access to

Akerons gate area, out in Pluto. Eventually, the war was resolved, with much

death, good EC people blowing up their ships, and crazy ass Mordane getting

    caught in the explosion."

Why it's located in Saturn today is simple because back in live, it was the last planet. (They scrapped Neptune because they never got it to work correctly.) I belive that's why Saturn is now also a major hub today as you said. . But we dont want to change it to much.

And yes, the ancient did build the gates, but not the one connecting for example Saturn to ABG. They are terran design. The gate to Antares is an example of Ancient gate design.

One neat idea would be turning SOL into one huge gigantic sector where the planets spins in their orbits and you have to chase the planets if you want to reach them. And give the planets the coward AI so the planets flee from you when you aproach them! :)

  4. In your proposed configuration would Saturn still have the gate to Beta Hydri (Glenn)?

Yes.You could still go to Beta hydri from Saturn ( and thoose other non-Sol sectors that connects rookie areas ). Who knows. Perhaps Saturn is the nearest planet to B.H i RL? I havnt got a clue to be honest.

My suggestions are only about planets / sectors located in Sol. Most of us know how the planets in Sol are located. The way i see it ( i wonder thou why WW / EA didnt see it that way ) is that gates inside a system should be jumplanes/gates between planets. Gates that connect systems to eachother should be warpgates. ( I hope that make sence, it's late :o )

  5. I could be off base here... but I think if you look at the attached map... the way its setup now makes more sense... plus... if there are warp gates ro jump gates.... then rhyme orreason as to where they connect kinda lose value dont they?

    this website

    http://www.enbx.com/maps.htm

has the best collection of maps from live that I have found...

That's the problem with the attached map.. The new sectors isnt on them.

  6. Every time i look at the new starmap it makes me wonder how some places are connected. Especially in Sol, many things seems to be out of order. Sure, most of the things can be explained back when the game was live for example gate to Akerons Gate beeing placed in Saturn simply because it was the "last" planet.

But now when our nice devs has added new sectors in Sol (Mercury, Venus, Ceres, Uranus, Neptune, Pluto ) shouldnt the gates be located at their "correct" places? Shouldnt the gate to Akerons Gate be located in Pluto ( Read the enb bible, it tells you where the gate is really located )

There is also a few other gates that can be questioned. Why are Mercury and Pluto even connected? Why is Ceres connected to Venus when it's located in a asteroid field between Mars and Jupiter?

My suggestion on how the systems should be linked now that we have new systems:

  7. Well, given 9 races, 9 possible configurations, and 7 hull levels, it would take 567 screenshots to fully oblige your request, but as consolation, here is the progression for the Progen Sentinel with hull and wing type 1 from hull level 1 to 6. I've excluded hull level 0 (the starter hull) because you can see that pretty easily in-game.

    Enulator??? :)

  8. This seems like too much of a departure from the way missions were in live. I think a better solution is to just make sure that missions reward fairly for the player's time investment.

Yeah i agree somewhat on this if we want the game to be as it was back in live. Alltho, i also find it kind of annoying sometimes not knowing what you'll get after you finished a mission. Almost all mmorpgs today tells you what you reward is. This is one thing i think enb is missing. ( That and a complete mission breifing under the mission tab )

  9. Yeah, the guild list should indicate who's online, it just hasn't been implemented yet. The guy who wrote the guild code kinda split right after, so it was never perfected. In live, the computer only showed people on your friends list logging in and out, as I recall. We might end up going to a similar situation at some point. Unfortunately, message are colored by the client according to their type, so it's kind of undesirable to change the type of the message depending upon what kind of player has logged in (player/friend/guildie).

Ah i see. I guess we just have to wait and see then :P

btw. what language does the game/server use for example the guild codes?

  10. The guild roster doesnt say who's online and i dont think you really should have the entire guild on your friendslist but is there a way to make the game notify you when someone in your guild or friendslist come online?

Atm, the computer log tells you about every single person who logs on/off. Can this be altered? For example. If a "normal" player logs on, the computer reports as it does atm with a green colour. If a guildie log on, the computer reports it in a blue colour and if someone on your friendslist log on, the computer reports this in a white colour. ( it doesnt have to be thoose colours but you'll get the point )

  11. Currently on completing the level 30 hull upgrade mission you can get the boss drops from the Warden for a cost.

This is because the Merus Militia Captain should drop the weapon/s as a chance to only people with the mission.

As soon as he spawns like a job boss as part of the mission; then the drop table will be returned. This will mean that only players who group with you at that stage of the mission will be able to have some chance at looting the corpse. As live, only you and your group could kill the merus militia captain.

So i have to visit the warden to buy the ML then? I already done my lvl 30 HU.

  12. I wouldnt mind seeing PvP ingame in a few selected sectors ( new ones ) as long as non-pvp players isnt forced to enter thoose sectors.

But there should be a carrot for the non-pvpers who enters the sector.

Perhaps someone who manufactures stuff could get a % bonus if he/she creates stuff in a starbase located in a pvpsector.

Perhaps there could be a rare asteroidfield for miners?

I know alot of enb-players dont want to pvp but to be honest. If you read the storyline or played the game you might remember several occations where pvp should have been concidered an option ( and what i can remember, even the original devs at Westwood had pvp in thought for several occations ) If our goal is to have a large/ bigger playerbase we should try to add totaly new content. Dont know how fun the fishbowl is going to be after you done it 3732792 times.

There are several scenarios that could be availble depending on how far back in the storyline the current devs takes us.

A few ideas on possible scenarios:

The progen-jenq war: For example the destruction/defense of jove city. ( Progens attacks the city, jenqs must stop progens before the citys shield / armor is down to zero. The winning side get some kind of reward. ( This could be for. example a maximum 1 hour battle. If the base is not destroyed within 1 hour, the jenqs wins. )

The terran vs progen fight in Moto: ( I actually thought this was a pvp-sector the first time i entered it ) Cant remember all the details about moto from the original storyline documentation but this looks like a nice place to have a pvp-scenario between the terran alliane and the progens.

Defend Planet Primus from v'rix: ( i rather fight devs / gm's who controls v'rix ships than killing 1000000 npc ships until they stop spawning and still losing the battle, as it was back in live... )

This list could be longer because the storyline is very interesting and i dont want to spoil it to thoose who hasnt read it.

    Other pvp-related suggestions:

Implant a new playable ( not really but you might get the point at the end) faction, Red Dragon. If you get max faction with the RD's , it should start a long mission chain where you in the end could choose to become a Red Dragon. The final mission gives you a "hull upgrade" that changes the look of your ship into a red dragon model. Perhaps even create a new class with it's own uniqe skilltree for the rd's? Anyhow. The purpose of this is that you would be pvp-enabled all the time in all sectors, the bad side is that you are a pirate and can be attacked anywhere, anytime. Even the gate turrents would fire upon you. And i doubt that many of the starbases would accept you.

just a few of my cents

  13. No one on staff probably saw your post, do you have experience in 3D modeling i.e. with 3DS Max? Do you have experience with texturing?

Well, i have some experience in 3dmodeling when it comes to create maps for fps-games but that was a couple of years ago. What do you mean by texturing? Creating textures from scratch or put them on a object? I have some experience in both.

As i said. It been a while sence i did stuff like that and i wouldnt mind taking a closer look to see if i can contribute in some way.

  14. Well i'm not a pro, my knowledge is more hobby based. BeI have done some 3d map creation but that was a loong time ago. That's why i asked how you create starbases. I wouldn't mind taking a closer look to see if i can contribute in any way.

I do have experience with textures and simular. I have been creating own stuff for other games ( Potbs, Gta etc.. )

  15. Sturmmer doesn't add anything to the mission log. He tells you where to go next. Again, it will be very important to read and make any notes you don't think your memory will retain when doing progen missions. The Progen Developer is quite demanding on us but his rewards are quite nice too.

And, for the record, Strummer instructs you to go to DCO and speak with the warden.

I have already been to DCO several timeswithout any sucess either. The warden dont want to speak with me.

  16. Ok, here is what i did so far ( and i hope i have been working on the correct mission )

when i reached lvl 30 i flew to planet endriago to speak with ijoona ( or whatever her name is, she is located in the "bar" section of the station. I'll call her ijonna in this message)

She then gives me a quest that i need to bring her a shipments of nanobots which takes me to arx ymir. After finished that part and found the shipwreck etc i need to bring her 3 codecs from 3 mobs located in 3 diffirent places. The last one is on Planet Dahin. It is after this point i got lost because i dont have the mission in my log for some reason.

I got 5 missions there atm

    1. The first is a christmas quest i belive, gathering milk, sugar etc.

    2. The second one i got from N7. Fly to aragoth to investidgate RD

    3. Patrol Mercery

    4. Find some mordanite ( got the quest from the npc next to Ijoona ( name, duh,)

    5. A quest about embargoing the infinitycorp. I dont think this is a part of the hull upgrade because i think i had this quest when i picked up the quest from Ijonna.

I have flew to the npc's i recent talked to wihtout any progress. I have been to Mars, Mars alpha, Endriago, Primus, Jotunheim, Ragnarok without success.

But when i got some clue i think yesterday when Ijonna for some reaseon gave me a diffirent chat-tree mentioning i have to got to detention center O. in AbG to pick up a codex, but there isnt anything there. And it's hard to figure out what she wants because the lack of a mission log. There is only one NPC there except the vendor. The npc wont talkt to me and the vendor doesnt sell anything related to a codex.

So, am i on the right track so far, or have i been doing the wrong quest?

I like when missions are hard. I want a challenge when i play games but it's quite hard when you cant see the mission details. That's why i wrote this post. I cant even cancel the hull upgrade quest to start over if i missed something because there isnt one to cancel.

  17. Bump

I run this game on Win7 and if i remember it correctly, all you need to think of is the installationpart.

The game always ( for me ) ends up in C:\Program Files (x86) when it should be in C:\Program Files

And just in case, make sure you run the installation etc in admin mode.
