Sorry, gotta stand counterpoint to this. Byakhee's mission in no way shape or form affect the stability of the server (no matter how crazy they may be). At best they are irritating to complete because of something you didn't read or do. That's not game breaking, and based on what I've seen of his missions, none of the really complex ones are now required to get hull upgrades. We made this much a mandate for him and he has done an admirable job of fixing them so they weren't interlinked.

With all this said, I want to just say this, there will be no flame war here, it won't be tolerated. If you have something to add and support, do so, if a flame war gets started the post will close along with any subsequent posts that attempt to prolong said war.

I agree with Kyp on this. No server coding time has been spent to facilitate any single developer's pursuits. Whatever code that was prompted to be written or fixed by Byakhee's missions was already planned or overdue.

Also, I really like Byakhee's missions. Everyone always thinks I'm crazy for saying that, but it's true. I find them interesting and involving. They actually make me feel like I'm in a storyline, instead of just clicking buttons on some screen playing a game emulator.
  2. Ha. ;)

This is a really difficult thing to pin down, but I feel like early 2013 is not a bad estimate. Of course, people probably thought we'd be done by now a few years back. It could always go more slowly or more quickly based on the state of the community, developers joining and/or leaving the team, and unexpected circumstances such as hardware failures and the like.

We should be calling this shindig an Alpha pretty soon, which is a big milestone in the endless trudge toward completion. Our main concern has been server code up to this point. After we switch to the alpha stage of development, we should be able to start really picking up on real, live-grade content development, and I think the pace of development will seem much faster then. Of course, I can't speak for the content guys, so I could be wrong, but that's what I'm hoping.

The bottom line is: I think 2013 is a good goal for us to be at a "live" or live-like state.

It should have a button that says "Update" or something of the like. Click that. If that's not an option, please take a screenshot so we can better understand the situation.

I have found this most often occurs when the launcher is unable to update the authlogin.dll file in the client directory.

This is especially a problem on Vista and Windows 7, although some firewalls will try to stop file modification.

I think we should post up a standard set of login files, already pointing at sunrise, for people to manually update with if required.

I would not recommend resorting to local-cert as you could be setting yourself up for problems further down the track.
Is AuthLogin.dll patched with the regular client files? If it weren't updated, the launcher should give an error and prevent the player from patching and, therefore, launching the game.

Indeed I only recommend Local Cert as a stop-gap measure to get people in-game when they can't any other way. I'll try the AuthLogin solution first from now on.

Hi there. EnB player back in the day (Andromeda Server - Progen forevah!)

Tried to download the Net-7 launcher per the install isntructions and the web link looks dead, goes to unavailable page.

can i not install right now?
The link you were served was probably broken. Keep trying the download(s). The mirror used to get the download rotates, so you should hit a valid link if you try a couple, or at most a few, times.

I'm up to version 320 but still won't let me past login info screen. After I first patched i was able to log in once, every subsequent attempt since then, same thing as before, I enter my login info, hit accept and entire client closes to desktop. Not giving me errors, no messages in the proxy, just shuts down every time, no idea why it's doing this now.

Just a little idea: Jupiter Deep. Takes place very deep in Jupiter's atmosphere. Enviro shield is required otherwise you take damage from the crushing pressure. Some light is available through heated plasma particles but the sector is very dark nonetheless. Mobs are scary and black coloured with bright eyes (like deep sea fish). Ores are L6-9 gasses. Unlike other planets this sector is facing downwards so as you travel further from the gate you go deeper and it gets darker. The deeper you go the higher level the ores and mobs get, and the higher level enviro shield is required to not get crushed.
That sounds like it would be fun. I don't get the feeling we could make it darker as you progressed, at least not easily, and we can't add mobs quite yet, but the general idea sounds doable.

Should be fixed now folk. That's a dev area forum that was moved, the members group still had read permission on the forum even though it was in a hidden category. They shouldn't show up anymore. Let me know if you encounter any more that don't work.
Ahhhh. Didn't even think to check for that.

I have installed and updated everything, have accounts on both enb emulator and net 7. When I lauch net7 and load into the login screen I type my username and password and click next. After I click on next to login the screen disappears and just shows the dos menu showing login ok, then nothing else happens? any help would be great :D

  10. Ah, sorry. Those forums are supposed to be excluded from the recent activity list. I'll have a go at fixing it.

Edit: Actually it seems that I don't have any option to stop that. :D Sorry, you'll just have to endure the curiosity. :P

I rly dislike when people talk my native language ingame. As if in the 26th century (or so) they would speak that crappy language...

People that talk anything other than English need to be hanged, drawn and quartered.

    PS:

    Lol. What's your native language?

i did a dnsflush per another topic just to see what would happen, and server changed from OFFLINE to STARTING. net-7 welcome page shows 8/500 so just for giggles i tried to login. proxy gave me an odd error:

    Incompatible version of Net7Proxy.
You need to upgrade to version 2.04
Make sure you are using the latest LanuchNet7,
It should auto-patch the Net7Proxy to the latest version.
29/03/11 18:40:49 login failed - server not found.

    Updating will fix this.

I understand some ppl are able to log in but there is atleast 50 or so ppl who can not log in and are CTDing with or without the lock port checked.Saying the server is "fine" is far from the truth soemthing was changed lastnight and its not been right since.I played on new server yesterday for 4 hrs and had no issue and then about 7pm CST its started CTDing constantly and hasnt been fixed since. So im sure the server is smooth and no lag for those who are on the server but for the 50 or so ppl still trying to log in its frustrating .
The server is far from fine, but there isn't much we can do at the moment. We'll get it fixed as soon as we can.

I don't know how to do port forwarding for SSL with my router, but even with all those UDP and TCP ports forwarded properly to this machine's static IP, I'm still having issues.
Port forwarding won't really help, because you don't need any connections coming into your computer to run the game. What exactly is the issue you're having?
