I noticed this person in the new player forums proclaiming this. When the gm's are done with this please delete the post or the pictures please.

That's creepy. Thanks for posting - you and I are sometimes in disagreement but, on this, I wholly agree there shouldn't be any place for it on EnB.

I would guess that it does not Jarod, but I'll have to try to find out. The build list is a separate table, and I doubt they went through and removed the items from your build list, there are alternate structures in place that make sure you're highly unlikely to build an item beyond your skill level. (They power the "build difficulty" and if your level is too low, you'll just get a message saying you don't have enough skill to build this item.)
That's cool - understand, I'm in no way trying to pull a fast one and exploit anything. Just curious about what happens if I have a builder char that I'd like to temporarily stop building something so he/she can, say, loadout a big beaming setup and go raise RD faction easily and then drop the beam skill and go back to building - and have their blueprints intact.

    Thanks!

Perhaps for the companionship or to share the experience of hunting some very tough mobs, or even to ask for and recieve some help in a difficult situation.

Please refrain from trying to paint me as a social misfit, just because I might ocassionally enjoy doing something on my own.
In what way did I attempt to portray you as anything? I only know you by what you write and you wrote "Still, I for one could be completely happy to never buy or ask another player for anything." and I asked then why play an MMORPG? I didn't call you any names, imply anything about your psyche, merely asked a question about why someone that has explicitly stated they'd be happy to NEVER ask another player for anything would want to play a game with other players. Not sure what nerve that struck to prompt a claim that I was attacking you - by asking a simple question.

Still, I for one could be completely happy to never buy or ask another player for anything.
Perhaps, then, an MMORPG really isn't the right game? I mean, seriously, with that type of stance what is the point of playing a game with other people?
  6.
Yes, I still want the information available. I'm not asking the devs to provide it, just not to hide it.
Ah, well there's the easy part. They aren't hiding it, they just aren't openly publishing it. Once you've found something it isn't hidden. You are then free to share that information with others - nobody on the Dev/GM team will stop you. You are free to explore all areas of the game and find it for yourself. You are free to ask others playing the game where whatever you are looking for can be found. You are free to record all the information you gather and host it in a player-accessible format of your choice. This is how it was done in Live - some of this info was shared via Community Forums and some of it was even hosted on player-developed databases hosted on websites. All of it was based upon player experiences, in-game, in finding what dropped what and where.

If what you want is an encyclopedia and atlas listing every drop, provided by the Net-7 staff, they've already said you aren't going to get it. I happen to be in agreement with that stance. While I don't have any hard data to point to, my gut feeling is that more *active* players agree with that stance than disagree.

Has anyone else noticed that there is not a single shield builder in the Jenquai race?

Remove either the build devices or the build weapons skill from the seeker skills and replace it with build shields.
I would imagine most people have noticed this as it's consistent with each race having a weakness. Jenquai's is Shields, Terran's is Reactors, and Progen's is engines - each race doesn't have any character capable of building that particular category.

Indeed, which is why it needs to be avoided. It's not without a reason that almost all MMO's since have round robin looting.
But then where would be the fun?

Would be nice to either increase the explore xp on the roids if you say mined the whole roid and not took what you wanted and or if you removed the refining costs of the ores themselves not sure the second is possible seeing as how everyone pays a fee for whatever they build but it would alleviate issues with refining ore if say the cost was lower for a new player.

Increase the cost you are paid for refined ore sometimes its not worth refining an item when its a few credit difference yet it costs you more to refine it than you make back
You already receive a bonus for clearing an asteroid or a gas cloud.

As to the credits, my JE makes the most credits of any my characters the quickest and easiest.

Remove the jackasses opportunity to be jackasses.

It's like the firearm debate. If nobody had them, people would not be getting shot.

Please don't say it is good to be able to spot the jackasses because given a little push here and there most people can be taken down to that level.
I don't know - isn't it just like the debate about cherry-picking. Some people say they enjoy cherry-picking because they know it ticks other people off. Perhaps the same is true of loot stealers - they do it just to tick others off.

I Was Lucky enough to recover this before the web site went down and im sure others would like to have this.
Its a Java based Map that was previously linked in the forums.
It shows drop info and other neat tidbits, someone worked on this hard and I feel i cannot let it die.

Warning though, it is a bit outdated but has not failed me yet.

    So here it is.
Drag enb_javascript_map.php to web browser and enjoy.

Can loot be randomly assigned when grouped?

Full group -> kill mob -> open hulk -> only loot assigned to you is highlighted, thus lootable

    * There may need to be maximum range for this.

    * You may need a method to easily assign your own loot to a specific player in the group, or free it for anyone to take.

    * Make it an option that loot can be randomly assigned

While this is a long shot suggestion, it does add a certain 'fairness'. Also, loot whoring and the bitching that ensues can be avoided.

When you loot something valuable while grouped it is yours because you got it, not because your team allowed you to have it. It also removes the need for a lotto within a group when they loot say a plague's bite.

Basically, this suggestion is to avoid the sh!tstorm called fastest finger first...
If loot stealing is a problem in the group, doesn't sound like a very nice group to be with. Sounds like they all deserve each other.

That's not any message being issued by EnB. Seems like a good match for this MS KB:

This falls under the category of good ideas we keep forgetting to put in. It also seems like something I could handle. As soon as I have time, I'll take a loot at it. I'm backed up with tons of stuff to do atm.:D

Don't forget to add the /slash command, which lists all the commands one can do with the / command prefix. :)

If you feel warriors are getting a raw deal, please feel free to make a proposal that might improve the situation. Nothing says we can only consider ideas on one front at a time.

    A fair question.

Interaction between players is good.

Other than a handful of ammo-related ores, miners and component builders don't interact much. For a healthy and dynamic economy, one might expect a food chain of ore providers -> component builders -> item builders -> item users (everyone). (Not unlike the real world: mined iron ore -> bulk steel -> auto chassis -> finished car -> consumers.)

One reason for this lack of interaction is that ripped or vendor-purchased ores are every bit as good as mined ores.

Hence a proposal to make miner-provided ores provide an extra bonus, increasing demand (i.e. a reason to interact) without creating an annoying absolute dependency.
Now, given that components and ammo are always 200%, I'm not sure what that bonus should be. But there are some ideas being kicked around in this thread.
No, I don't think anyone is getting a raw deal - was merely pointing out the *substantial* opportunity for XP gain that is provided to miners regardless of whether the ore/gas mined is in demand. The demand aspect of it would only affect the miner's ability to increase profit - and I'm not seeing, in the game's current state, that lack of credits is a big problem.

Apologies for not using the quote structure better here as with the list tags I'm afraid I'd mung it up, but as to your points:
    1) Agreed, interaction is good
    2) Agreed, a healthy supply chain that involves all chartypes is good. Although, as has been mentioned upthread, I believe the interaction between miners and builders happens a lot more than you might think. It's just that those interactions aren't predominantly taking place via market channel but via Guild chat or other arranged relationships.
    3) Agree somewhat, but see (2) - there is interaction just more private vs public
    4) I don't really see this affecting the interaction model. The same model will continue, just with additional bonus to the builder. As I'm a builder, miner, and Guild member I'll still have the same access as I did before - just with shinier builds. What's changed?
  17.
I'm pretty sure that most people that mine these ores, do so because either they need them, or a guildmate/friend needs them. The dozen or so other ore types you collect while mining those, however, no one wants to pay for, hence, so they pile up or get vendored. A market where a select few resources are in demand, and every other resource is mostly ignored, is a prime example of a bad market.

I've said it before, and i'll keep saying it. the biggest problem with mining in EnB is there are too many ore types. The game would be greatly improved, imho, if the number of different ores was reduced by 1/3 to 1/2 at each level.
Ores aren't unique in this respect. Most loot that is dropped via combat also has little/no demand. So players sell those items to NPC's. NPC's aren't refusing to buy the "unwanted" ores. In fact the mining characters have the opportunity for a double (triple, really) XP bonus as they trade the raw ores to a player who then trades them back - miner gains XP. Miner then takes those ores and refines them - and gains XP. Miner then either directly sells "unwanted" refined ores to NPC or trades them to another player - in either case gaining XP (and credits). By contrast the player that has combat loot, most of it in no/low demand, only gets some xp and creds by selling to an NPC.

Who is getting the better deal here?

I don't see what is driving this thread. What is it that's broken that these proposals intend to fix?
  18.
With the kind of comp building that is occuring at an Automatic 200%, with this same mind set, why do you not always or automatically get superior ammo each time it is built using ores? Or is this also automatic and I am just not in the know?
Yes.
  19.
You didn't outright - you inferred it here:

The implication being a reduction in credits in play will make ripping of comps less attractive and so drive people to the seek ores elsewhere (i.e. the ore market). Did I misunderstand what you are saying here?
I said/inferred nothing of the sort. What I posted about the OP's first point agreed with everything you later posted - that high volume builders typically have existing arrangements with ore suppliers and that this is also quite typical of standard Guild arrangements. In answer to the OP's second question as to whether this is a result of shortcomings of the game's economy I said it was but one of many aspects of those shortcomings. Is anyone getting rich from building, for example? As my purported Advocate do yo believe that the game economy, as it currently is, is functioning as you believe it should be?

Amazing, yet another front page article, this time an interview with the exec producer, Rade Stojsavljevic.
They even asked him what he thought of the emulator.
Thanks for the link, I found that an interesting interview. My favorite quote, and I think it sums up what made EnB quite unique at the time is this:
    ===========================================================================
We tried very hard to build an intuitive and clean user interface, avoid a lot of insider gaming jargon, and provide a smooth progression of difficulty for first-time users.
    ====================================================================================
I think that's still true of EnB today.
