  1. I'd agree with what Raptorred has said. Also, it wouldn't exactly help the community if you've got ships everywhere zooming on autopilot with players afk. You should also keep in mind that part of what makes this game great is that fact that you DO have to travel through these systems, and it can be a semi pain (Oh.. great I've got to get alll the way over there...) BUT it is more realistic and fun, at least for me. Also, how would this affect traders vs other classes?

    On the other hand some dynamic trade goods do sound good - at some point you'll have stations up to the airlocks in NullG art.. so why would they buy more? I would also agree with Avani that not all trade runs should be variable - some things don't change... That weapons Tech will always be in demand.. :)

    I still like the idea - think more of species 8472 on Voyager - 4 or 5 ships combined and focused their fire into a super weapon and blew up a planet - sure Chuck could do the same thing, but he's not floating around E&B :)

If that fails and you still can't log in after a few days (it seems to have problems with some ISPs so you don't see a response when they send you one) then post in the GM Public support section on the forums.

  4. my personal opinion for people donating is to have something that's nice, possibly convenient but something that doesn't give an edge in terms of gaming.

    Things like: access to special decals, devices that create funky graphical effects, perhaps a device that creates an extra couple of cargo slots (at the expense of a device slot), additional customisation options like being able to choose the weapon mount positions for any hull level and so on.

    I agree, any 'buying power' should only buy decorative stuff - like mentioned before, something like the eyeball popper which looks neat but doesn't hurt anything.

    On a side note, I really like the idea of a message bar/box with game related announcements. Think of it as a N7 newsbar! (imagine those scrolly bars at the bottom of TVs)

    This could be used to repeat news heard at N7 (Mines collapsing) or event news (Manes on the rampage in Aragoth!)

  5. The staff isn't making it easy to for us to perform our role as testers while we play the game. It's terribly difficult to determine if a bug has been reported, much less to see how many are outstanding and how they may be linked together. I can see how casual players would lose interest if it's so hard to contribute.

    There is a group of Beta Testers whose job it is to report bugs and test items. There is an organization for them, and a bug reporting system. General players are not part of the Beta Tester team, so don't have access to the set up. We do want your bug reports (See Player Bug Reports on the forums) but at the same time you can't expect a walk through of the missions to simply see if you're on the right track. Beta Testers would be provided an idea of what is supposed to happen on a mission more so than a player. They would also typically work closer with the team lead or creator of the mission. There is also nothing stopping a player from creating a guide to a mission or missions themselves. The only caution I would add is that as things are still changing fairly frequently, the guide or walk through could be out of date fairly quickly.

    Also, as mentioned before (and to remain on the original topic) all forums need "censoring" to some extent. Offensive posts and inappropriate material (we have all age ranges playing and reading) need to be removed. Although I believe in a good discussion and healthy debate, it should also be recognized that some things can't be solved, some posts turn into flame wars, and some will (or would) drag on for a long period of time with nothing gained. I for one also care about the image of the forums, and if there were a thread going on for months, with lots of hurt feelings, bickering and so on, I (assuming I was a new visitor) would not be impressed, nor likely to be interested in spending time in a community apparently enjoying such a thread.

  7. Now, as Sydokun said, enough about this. I'm willing, if an admin can be convinced, to have my posts from this thread removed so your recruitment thread won't have to deal with this mess.

  8. The DPS if the different wepon types is about the same, its just how they do that damage, so a plasma or chemical attack will do 1 large bit of damage followed by a few small ticks afterwards. EMP, Chemical and Plasma all do better damage to certian systems, such as reactor, hull and shields which has to be factored in. So althoguh the base is pretty much the same for all damage types, how they actual apply it is what differs, which can be a big deal depending what types of mobs you are fighting. For example, biological mobs have no hulls, so plasma is generally better to use on them for the bonus damage.

    Currently Plasma and Chem do the same base damage, it is just spread out. So lets say you have an explosive missile that does 96dmg (total including level bonus etc). if you change that same missile out with a Chemical would do 16 dmg/tick for 6 ticks to the sheilds. When it got to the hull it would do 16+modifier(2-4, more if the mob is debuffed). If you started out with Plasma, that missile would do 16+(2-4 or more depending on debuffs). Once it got to the hull, it would only do 16/tick and no bonus. So, if you use your missiles correctly, you could get 12-24(or more if debuffed) more damage per launch.

    It would make more sense if it a larger portion of damage on impact, followed by the DOT effect, but at least currently that is not how it works.

    Good post, I'd move it to the knowledgebase if there were an appropriate spot for it.

  9. Hi guys,

    Today I had a tough time submitting a ticket, and finally had to do it out of the game. I checked, and think I narrowed down the problem.

    If you go to "get help" and select the "I have a tech support, billing...." tab you'll go to the ticket system and be fine.

    If you click on the "I want to report a bug" it will look the same, but you won't actually be able to submit a report. You can fill out the form and push submit all day long, and you won't get a confirmation. The page will just reset to a blank request.

    If you are trying to discourage players from reporting bugs this way, I would just suggest directing them to a page that says how to report a bug.

    Otherwise this sounds like a glitch.
