  1. WH devices... Single Use, would allow any player to WH to various sectors that are not on the normal JE WH skill.  i.e. Nostrand Vor Planet.  The use of this WH would have the same effect on trade goods as the JE skill, so it would not be useful for trade runs.. 1M credits a pop seems fair, L5 Devices to keep them in the mid-range of player levels. Also not able to WH to sectors that are secured by Faction/race gates.. i.e. a WH device to Io would have to be Jenquai Explorer only..

    Nostrand Vor planet.

    Ragnarok

    Earth Sector

    Margesi, Proxima

    Zwihander

    Mercury

Others may be added, the point of the devices is to get access to content in those sectors but not be overly convenient. The current gate network and WH wefts are fine if you are a JE and really know your way around, but these would make it easier to access missions in those areas and use of the content.  Many players do not even explore these sectors because they are so remote.

Some additional thoughts... Make the devices unique.. so a player can't fill their hold/vault with them.. one WH device per and it is individual WH not a group object... (Like RTB)

Level of the device can be used to restrict the level of the player able to use it.. up to L8, for obvious race/class restrictions.  i.e. an L8 device can be made for Cooper.

  2. Basically, we are limited to the number of talk trees any one NPC can have.

It would have to be multiple query NPC's, based on level, spread out across the galaxy.

We're talking months worth of work.

I've made this exact same suggestion in regards to Agrippa Content.

It just can't be easily done, unless the coders come up with an alternative system.

We have some brilliant Programmers, but I don't see that happening.

Not being fully aware of the limitations of the system it is very easy to over reach possibility... Then the only other viable option would be an external system, perhaps meshed in with Net-7.  One of the tabs on an avatar could be "Missions available" or something like that.

The missions themselves must have some kind of table or database entry by which the system can check for missions completed and a table entry of which missions an avatar has not completed would be easy to extrapolate.  A couple of small queries should be able to spit that info out on the Avatar pages easily enough.

Personally having leveled up several 150s at this point I can say there are aspects of it that are tedious, but I don't think 150 should be easy, it should take work.  The easiest routes are not always the fastest but it is often very tedious.  The fastest routes involve grouped efforts and skipping a great deal of content.  My idea here is to setup a suggested path of development that is a mix of missions, jobs and good old group combat, tours and trade runs that will just diversify the activities of a developing player rather than accelerate their growth.

  3. In response to Darkk's post... Missions (Quests) that are level appropriate... Why can't we have an NPC, or a racial NPC at each of the home stations, that can direct us to content... If you query the NPC it checks to see if you have run X mission previously, if you have the minimum required level, faction and pre-requsite missions and then tells the player simply.. "NPCx on station Y has a mission for you" or similar.. not new missions, just a guided push in the right direction... if you ask the NPC a second time immediately after accepting or refusing a mission he selects another that you are capable of...

Ideally when this NPC runs out of work for you to do, you've done every mission possible, at least once, for your class, race, level, faction ratings.

In cases with faction it would also be nice if the NPC could inform the player "If you had more x faction you could perform x job for NPC y at station Z" or similar, so the player would know he has new content available if he raises a particular faction.

The point of this being it would be great for when a new mission is made available as well as the dozens of missions that no one even knows about.  It becomes tedious to go to each station and talk to every NPC over and over in hopes of finding something to do. I would love to be able to level a toon solely on mIssions, it would take a long time, sure, but it would be fun...

  4. I would suggest that other much larger faults are fixed first their are almost to many to list and have been round a awful long time with seemingly nothing being done about them.

The grind factor the only thing worth while doing is trade jobs everything else pales in comparison time vs xp (and I'm not suggesting you lower xp for trade jobs rather up the xp for other options )

secondly the sheer lack of decent equipment outside of raiding and most of the stuff people are using that aren't raiding are the few items from raids that are printable and tradable and buildable with items outside of raids. otherwise its all garbage

thirdly the stability issues their are always issues with this . don't really need to expand on that.

fourthly the penalty's for teaming the xp gets laughable after u get 2-3 players in a team and maxing a team out is no easy task with the player base as tiny as it is . now correct me if I'm wrong this is a mmo ,Discouraging teaming probably not the way you want to go.

fifthly the whole guild system join 3 guilds after 150 or have very little content options bad enough their are few enough at the end game as it is . This will stop new players joining they'll just leave .

finally please I accept your not being paid for what your doing but I've seen devs that would not back down thinking they are right well your not always it happens suck it up and change things . Your loosing players and going to continue to do so till theirs nothing left if you don't .

Their are many more things that need fixing those are just a few . My point regarding to this post credits are the least of the emus concerns.

I think these are valid concerns.. deserving of their own posts.. being a comment on this one probably is not the best way to be heard.

The OP had a concern and an idea to solve that concern... He posted it.. it is a great idea, but you are right, there are other concerns.. there always will be... But I am glad the OP posted, it shows people are always looking for ways to improve things!

You should go down your list, make a post and put in some ideas how the devs can correct them, they may or may not be able to do them, but at least the idea is out there for debate...

  5. I was thinking about this the other day... I think it would be an awesome idea... give them something other than ammo and comps...

Everyone that uses builders a lot, makes a builder...

Everyone that needs WH a lot makes a JE...

Everyone that needs ore for ammo to make comps, makes a JE

Most of the long-term players are rather self-reliant and only buy what they can't kill/find/make themselves....

Most of the hard to get items are raid related or very rare spawns, you can't buy them with credits because the people who have those items have BILLIONS of credits...

If we have something to burn money on that is useful, expendable, moderately expensive and frankly addictive (one-use buff items would be addictive) can kick start the credit based economy again...

I think it is an awesome concept and opens the doors to a great deal of content (items), Devs?  Input?

  6. I would also like to extend to Uban the assistance from Net-7 News! You are always welcome to PM me or Pakkrat any items you think merit periodic blurbs on the Net-7 News channel in game, or point me in the direction of a juicy story!  We're always ready to inform and help keep people informed, we just need to know what needs our attention!

    Welcome Uban!

p.s.  Would love to do an interview with you sometime. Let the players know what you are about!

  7. Oh thank goodness you didn't delete this one.. I was looking for this today to add it to the Net-7 Wiki in whole or part.. please don't delete this Duvel.. just because some people will cry if you give them ambrosia on a silver platter does not mean the majority of the rest of us don't love you.. :) Please keep going!

  8. This is a tool we have and that we can all contribute to.. http://www.net-7.org/wiki I have started doing some work on it and I know others have.  This is a solicitous post to garner more input from players and to encourage people to use the Wiki.

The main page doesn't look like much, but here is some tips for using a new-ish wiki...

    SEARCH!!! It is your friend....

Also there is a link under "Toolbox" to the left.. "Special Pages"

It will have a number of pages that make no sense unless you are familiar with Media Wiki... however "All Pages" and "Categories" are quite useful to start your searches.

I am currently embarking on a long project to document all Systems, sectors, stations, npcs, vendors... essentially all of the core information into the wiki... and as I get these projects completed the information there is going to.. well.. explode.. so PLEASE USE IT!! let me know IG if you find problems, send me notes on the forums or.. EDIT THE PAGES YOURSELF and fix errors!

It is an open knowledge base, you can EDIT the info!! You can ADD pages! I know a few folks have been doing this, but since all of the resources we have externally are now very out of date and dying, we need to recompile it in once place.

    USE THE WIKI!!!

    mmmkay... <3

  9. The ones we need to hear from, the candidates, we have not heard from... Many players do not know these two people and find it hard to vote for unknowns.. in my discussions with players today, I found that this is a major reason why no one is voting... I have not been able to locate either one for an interview, nor have they posted much recently... This does not provide confidence.

  10. So I see that no one has been complaining about my particular brand of cherry picking. :P

Until very recently my JE didn't have enough reactor cap to pull L9 stuffs, so I was having to cherry pick the L1-L8 stuffs!

To my way of thinking there really isn't anything wrong with this..

    1. you don't get the field clear bonus because you didn't clear the field.. that's on you...

    2. the prospected roids will repop normally if you empty them...

    3. The L9 ores are more valuable and those are often the ones people want to find, you are leaving the good stuff for someone else..

We've all been low-level prospectors and had to leave roids with ore in them we just can't pull at one time or another.. It is part of growing up for a prospector.

  11. The trick is.. login to the forums on the last couple of days of the month.. The Donation window closes fast because people are generous and we have a moderate goal.  So to make your contribution you have to actually TRY to catch the cycle in the 1 or 2 days before it reaches goal.

  12. Though I am sure there are other hosts that they can move to... for the cost v.s. facility I can understand why 1&1 is hard to move away from... I've looked at a number of them in the course of years and for a mostly non-profit, low cost situation as this it is hard to beat 1&1.  Unfortunately for that reason their systems are over-taxed, under maintained and problematic.

It comes down to patience.. I deal with a little lag now and then.. gives me an excuse to walk away from the box, do other things, chit-chat, etc... I think a better solution would be to find ways to make the Client-Server situation more packet-loss tolerant.. I believe that is what the Devs are trying to do, give it some time 1&1 will fix some things, the Devs will fix some things... it will improve.. We'll still have Megan hour and bouts of lag, but given the nature of the EMU, some of that is to be expected.

  13. Whatever change was made to "fix" the gate crashes on the last patch does not seem to have been effective.  I am still crashing when grouped and gating 80% of the time.  I went in a tour last night and we had crashes at every gate, which was very unusual previous to the first "Proxy Update".  Since I spend a lot of time running around in groups it is getting silly to even try and do anything other than sit in one sector.

  14. Individual roids respawn within a field if the roid is CLEARED... Just because one roid was "picked" does not stop it from spawning until every last roid the field is removed...

What does cause problems is when there are 2 junk ores in a roid and one good one... cherry picker takes the good one and leaves the rest... So it is easy to fix....

When a roid has an ore removed, it should count town a respawn timer just like one that has been emptied... then when it timer expires the roid self-destructs.. then respawns on a normal cycle..

Other possible solution, but will make ores harder to gather... one ore/item per roid/hulk.. eliminate the "Debris (50)" I see in many L8 and 9 hulks because it is a pain to sit there while your maxed Prospect and devices takes an eternity to extract the pile of debris only to be discarded into space... This causes people who are pulling hulks in a hazardous area to leave the debris, even if they want to clear the roid they can't because they will get hit in the process and stop the prospect... If the hulk would "Clean" itself after the "good" item is removed.. problem solved... if the only thing in there is a small slag (5) or Landing Strut (4) or an item and the roid is cleared, then problem solved..

Cherry picking is caused by lazy miners or miners looking for specific things... If I am after 3 Aesirium just to get a build done I am not going to clear an entire field for that... If I am looking for 5 Gold I am probably not going to clear the entire L5 roid either... I'll find the roid, get what I want and warp out...

Only when prospecting for stockpiling or XP do you see people clearing entire fields... My 2 bits on this dead horse..

  15. Sorry I am new here, but I played the heck out of EnB when it was live. Which server name is the right one to connect to? I see the first two in the list are offline and the dev server is online, however the dev server won't accept my logins.

    sunrise.net-7.org is the correct server.

  16. The messages that appear in the chat window that are not related to chatting are a bit "noisy" .  It is even worse when you are in a group now, since most of the messages related to solo activity have been moved except "Credits" notification when looting....

Messages from Prospecting and looting in groups is horrible, enough to the point that if you have 2 prospectors going hard at it you can't read even group messages and the only way to get someone's attention is with a /t, because it makes a sound...

Can we get any player activity related message (non-communication) moved to the Notification window and out of the "chat" window?  People can expand that notification area as needed (like with building and such), but limit it when the information is not needed, I don't need to know what the other three prospectors in my group pulled off their 'roids.
