I just went through this.

 

The key thing to note is that there's an indicator in the top right of your screen after visiting goodspeed's ship.

Click it and you will see a communication from goodspeed to go get the novels Rumrunner mentioned.

 

The game needs a better method of getting one's attention when a message like that comes in.

I've gotta ask even though i'm assuming EA's database from the live game is gone.

Is there any way to bring back characters from the old game?

 

BTW: I searched for an hour or so before asking this.  I thought it would be right up front (maybe I missed it).
