  1. First of, I am not a dev (sounds like a refrain!   :-)

The problem is that with UDP, there is always a risk where a packet/request from the client was not received by the server.  In this case, the server was not aware that the client was waiting for a response.

I believe the same gotcha applies to terminal hangs too.  Sometimes the /unstuck command would work, but sometimes not.  In addition, when the client is stuck in the galactic map, there is no way a user can issue some sort of an /unstuck command.  Only a well designed client/server protocol/handshake can solve the problem, which is exactly what the new client proxy will provide, I was led to believe.

I hope that the new client proxy - curently in the work - can address this problem altogether.  All we need is for Tienbau to find some free time, according to Zackman!

  2. Why don't we simply take turns?  Regardless of the day.

    Static

    VGE

    BI

    Unaligned

    rinse, repeat

Unaligned means the bigger guilds help people in smaller guilds or no guilds participate.  If another guild gets big enough to do it alone then add them to the rotation.

    Just a thought.

[First of, a disclaimer:  I am just a plain TS, and not a dev, nor am I an officer in my guild].

It only works if everyone plays their end of the rules.  One team just decided to forgo the agreement and went their own way, and when that did not work, issued more complaints!!!!

WIth that said, we all wish they could sit down and work out a deal instead of just walk away from an agreement.  The most pronounced reason for leaving the agreement was that BI got an automatic spawn on Tue because of server restart, but that issue has been resolved with the recent patch where bosses are spawned at a random time after server restart, so the point is moot!

The other reason was given that it was a popular vote within the guild.  That is not a good reason for getting out of an agreement.  You can't just walk out of a deal made by your guild.  I wish my region (Southern Cal) to secede from the liberal Northern Cal but that is just a pipe dream and that is not gonna happen!!!!

The last reason was that Static leaders could not get the other 2 guilds to work out a deal!  But from a neutral point of view, I see the first time the issue was brought up was the declaration on this forum that raids will be FFA.  The next thread says, although it is FFA but we don't want anybody to mess up with our raid!!!  There was really no attempt to contact the other guilds through a public forum!!!!  That's why the Guild forums are for, for issues that cannot be resolved in game (due to time zone etc...)

  3.

after the Tuesday patch, the server would restart and the spawns would be up and ready to be activated. Quite a gift for Builders as they just had to be at the spawn when the server started for their raid

I thought a recent patch has had the bosses spawn at a random time after server restart?  I still don't understand the point here.

  4. In the old Live, this made sense, because you pay a monthly fee for your account, and you need 2 PCs to play those 2 accounts.  I remember earning credits making ammos for PS.  I have not seen anyone posting on the Market channel to buy ammos in EMU Live, unlike old Live.

In the EMU Live where you can have 45 toons per game account, I agree with Vitaes, TS and/or PS getting ammos is not a problem, well unless the devs outlaws boxing altogether.

With that said, besides the problem with making ammos, IMHO, of the 3 new professions,  the TS and the JT are under-developed.  They need more love from the devs.

  5. Because you crash to Megan.  The toon that asks you to log-in.

It is thought that it might be because that's Midnight on the East coast and a lot of companies may have chosen that time to transfer data to other/remote locations.

Actually, we in the West coast have seen another opportunity to have a date with Megan around 11:00-11:30PM Pacific time.  Lots of gate crashes and/or slow response for us West Coasters, but to a lesser extent than the real Megan hour.  I don't have anything solid, but I think it must be the time Las Vegas casinos decide to transfer their money,,,, ugh, doing their backups.  :)

  6. One more thing, since you live in LA:

Watch out for Megan hour (9-10p Pacific time).  Lots of visits to Megan login screen (CTM) during that time, so no combats.  I normally do ammo builds or jobbing, or play another game during that time.  No Analyze though, because of the risk of losing the item you want to analyze without analysis outcome (the terminal just eats the item).

Spread the words, because if the number of online users exceed the current limit of 600, Kyp (SDev Lead) may be forced to move the server (No, I have no insight into it, just hoping, cuz Megan hour impacts my playing experience every day (kids gone to bed etc....)).

  7. Donations are only opened once a month (or is it once the fund runs out).  Watch for it comes May 1st.

EMU Live gone life around Nov 9-10 2012.

There are a lot of OL150 because of a slip in the job rewards (too high), which has since been corrected a couple of weeks ago.   Patches are applied every week on Tuesday.  Even I who started a week after Emu Live, have not got OL150 yet in any of my toons, and have been kicking myself for not jobbing extensively before the patch :-)  To tell you the truth, the only jobs I ran are to satisfy Agrippa Trade Level requirements and JE Wormholes.

    I hate running jobs!!!!

  8. The problem with the single Player Advocate is that it does not encompass time zones.  I am a WestCoaster, and I hardly see, say, Zackman online, since I either have gone to bed or to work when he is online,  So the votes would wind down to be which time zone or which guild has the most players.

  9. Not wearing my [TS] hat, but as a player in Live and in the EMU since New-Live:

    - I can't comment on the End Game contents yet, since none of my toons have the CVE device nor the Walking Nighmare, but Gropos has a point:

What is the insentive for a Warrior to go through the 16 step of a mission in order to get a device that has the same buff as the one he has to give up?  I understand that a non-Warrior class would want to have that device, but there is no point for a Warrior to do that mission.

    - I do remember that Jobs in Live give EXP as well as CR.  I do remember there was always a crowd at the job terminal, and that getting your 6 jobs at VT terminal (or was it Fenris) take forever because it was crowded.  I remember making my credits as a JE taxing people from/to the weft at VT and Jupiter (The point is for me to be able to earn decent credits doing taxi jobs, there ought to be demand, therefore jobs were popular back in Old-Live).   I do read from one of the guide that you have to make your toon tall in order to easily grab a job.  That contradicts the claim that Jobs were not popular in Live compared to EMU.  I do agree that the EXP from jobs in EMU are excessive, but I have to say that a 50% reduction in EXP is too much for low level toons/newbies to take.   I don't care what happened in Live really, but I do care that it is not fair for the newbies whose toons are not at OL150 now have to climb a steeper hill than those already at End Game status.  Take an example: Agrippa requires TL45 as a condition for entry into Level 2 at lv100.  That could be done earlier easily, but now would take twice as long.  I believe a 33% EXP reduction coupled with a 50% decrease in CR would make more sense as it is easier to swallow.

    My 2 cents.

  10. Someone showed me how to freewarp in chat (I think it was LTE):

    (1) We use to just select it as target, warp then kill the warp, clear the target and then free warp.  This no longer works as described in the OP.

    (2) Work around for the new warp codes that point the ship in a random direction for a good few seconds before warping:

    (a) Select the target.

( b ) Hit SPACE BAR to align ship to target

    ( c ) Clear target

    (d) Free warp

  11. Hash is a method used to check the validity of data (by "hashing" it into an intermediate form).   In the old Unix, hashed values of the password are stored on the Linux PC in plain text, and is used to check the correct password, w/o revealing what it is.   In your case, it appears that your install is corrupted.  There are a few things you can try:

    (0) Make sure that the client IP address is correct.  I don't have access to the codes, but this may be used as the key to decrypt the data.  Also check the date and time of your PC (Some encryption use the time on your PC as one of the key to encrypt the data).

    (1) Uninstall and re-install

    (2) Try to renew the Certificate (from the Help button in the Net7 launchapp).  The Certificate is the encryption key used to encrypt/decrypt the data sent from/to the server.

If everything does not work, look for a ZIP file from dgvol and install it as mentioned in this thread:

    Hope this works for you!!!
