  1. Aw - Hello Kitty is lovely. I'll be transferring my allegiances to that MMO immediately . . .

    W A I T . . . . .

Players get stuck entering their own farms. Oh noes. (This is serious - they are really having problems and rushing out a hot fix).

Mind you there are Seed Bundles and New House in the Dream Shop - at a price.

I wonder if they get power-levellers there too?

  2. Meh - if grafting for the levels is the big issue then perhaps every week just dole out 5 bonus levels each for C/E/T. Trouble is we'd just have everyone racing round doing the big stuff and not realising the Lagarto Moon still doesnt have any meek wormy things to annoy low level miners.

It would be nice to know we have x weeks to achieve what we want to achieve before the next wipe. For some it will be a race against time to get to 150. For others it will be 'meh - I'll go do some building/analysing/missions/story-line...'.

  3. I'd like to see the game start properly - and that means more testing NOT playing, and that means looking at how all the functions work and not simply powerlevelling. Then a proper Beta - final issues sorted out, some publicity, and then the real fun starts. I wouldnt bemoan the loss of an uber-character. We all have a huge advantage over any newcomers when its relaunched.

So dont get too attached to your toons and dont weep over it.

The game is very good, but there are a lot of issues still to iron out first. And a lot of the issues are with the new toon missions and skills. Prospecting is not quite right yet. Mob agro isnt right. There are a ton of graphic and gameplay issues. Its still fine to see your plagues bite disappear into the airlock or vendor, or to have loads of XP debt because the buffs or devices didnt work. Its fine if you start 9 characters to test where the problems are and to learn how the toons operate. Its fine to powerlevel and test out the top end of the game. Its great that the ubers are doing the fishbowl and the other named MOBs with little competition. But its all got to go <pfft> for Beta and again for Live.

If you want to see progress then TEST and dont just play.

Perhaps Beta should be for those that contribute?

  4. Exactly - explorers... Get scan trained up and fit the devices and go looking, and then investigate and learn what you need to know.

At least we 'just' have 210+ ores to learn (at the last count). Just a little confusing to start with.

The first advice is always refine if you can.

The second advice is stack the ore in your vault and refine periodically unless you are the type that just loves standing there refining 5 ores at a time.

Third is research the market and know the prices, but dont be surprised if builders just buy comps from vendors or melt loot to get what they need.

The lack of a player-player trading market doesnt help the industrial chain (devs?). Network and tout your wares.

    There are some interesting formulas.

    Trade gemstones:

    Ruby (L4)

    Agate (L1)

    Bloodstone (L1)

    Fire Opal (L4)

    Malachite (L3)

    Moonstone (L2)

    Sapphire (L5)

    Tourmaline (L2)

You cannot sell these are ordinary vendors so keep a look out for gem stores. They might be useful anyway.

    Hybrid Refines/Composites:

More ores refine to its parent mineral (Apollonite/Apollonium) but some are hybrid concoctions. Unless you happen to have the right ingredients in your hold you wont see what refines. See Advice 1 - refine everything for max trade. And another good reason for Advice 2 - dont rush to sell immediately. You never know when someone might want resilient plastic.

    Examples:

Zirconium Dioxide -> Refined from: Zirconium and 2 Oxygen

Composite Steel Sheet -> Transparent Steel and Liquid Pagion

Resilient Plastic -> Solar Sweet Oil and Grail Water

Oxium Alloy -> Oxium Ore (2) and Mirandium Ore (3)

    And a few more besides.

    Refining Chains:

Silver Ore -> Silver -> Silver Fulmite

Star Iron Ore -> Star Iron -> Star Steel

    And a few more besides.

    More mysterious stuff:

Diridium Crystal -> "It is as mysterious now as it was to those who had it before."

Tazeron -> black, blue, yellow, red, white and colorless....

    One good source is http://enbdatabase.net-7.org/

The other is listening on Market Channel - "Disco ! Disco ! anyone got some near Antares??"

    As to what to keep:

All as above but I'd ask myself what sells most. Of course its ammo. And what ammo sells most? And what ores are needed for those awesome missiles and projectiles?

  5. Is it just my fading memory but doesnt high warp speed (with higher level engines) cause more efficient route taking, missing out a few of the beacons. It never ironed out the dog-legs like Glenn and Carp but I'm sure it was quicker/shorter.

In agreement with the points above, free-warp does the trick once you suss aligning, and then higher nav and things like Laz help for the last minute course change. I guess if warping around the systems isnt your thing then you need to go for a char with WH skills !

  6. In Elite there was a lot more to trading. You could make more money by doing prohibited goods, etc. And no set 'best route'. (That is going back some!).

I'd suggest the setting up of several trade route options so that not everyone does the two main routes. You could find good options by buying stuff at several vendors and finding the best run from that system. The bottom line is a bit of maths and careful placement of trade goods so that XP is equalised no matter where you chose to do a run. Makes sense?

  7. I'm retired and travelling. Living in a variety of places. Puerto Vallarta Mexico, San Jose and LA (Venice) when visa permits, and Sheffield UK.

Its tough but someone has to do it.

Agree with most of the points about CA above - seen Fire, Flood and Earthquake, and had a tour of South Central, Crenshaw the other day but no riot.

Mexico is a bit better - just flood and several shootings. For some reason its the Canadians being shot at in drugs related incidents.

And Sheffield is just snow and rain.

Loving the game. A big thankyou to the team.

It reminds me of why I went to Eve, it was the next best thing ie. second best. This is, by far, better. Loving the new race types.

If anyone is interested in reforming British Space Corps let me know - there are a few of us hanging out at OMP already. It neednt be restricted to brits as we always had a wide selection of peops from USA, South Africa, europe and elsewhere.

  8. I have always thought that the analyse rewards are poor in comparison to other tasks. You invest 20+ skill points in a build skill and you only get very small explore rewards. Admittedly you can then go on to make a lot of trade IF you happen to have the right print and go into industrial production.

You can spend a lot of time finding items to print, only to see <pfft> FAIL. Its a costly process.

I'd also like to see both ammo build in all race types, and comp build skills for all. Your choice if you invest points in them.
