  1. There are some great hulk fields inside groups of L50-53 mobs. A high-spec explorer can whip in and out like a ninja without being killed. Its not just about mining L9 roids.

Plus a good explorer still has a role in combat and once you start maxing out past 150 and get more of the good kit you can do more and more. Being able to take out a L45 mob is fine, but there are L54s and more!!
See cloak. Scan range. Nav. There is a lot to look forwards to.

I've returned after 15mths away and there has been a great improvement in explorer gameplay. Hulks are far better. The new skills are interesting. There is more variety and more to see and do, although I still feel the explorer-classes are the cinderalla when it comes to gameplay.
  2. I think pop-roids are broken today. I've tried a dozen or more today and all pop without giving up ore. Not as intended? Also a couple of people were saying high level pop-roids ding a low level shield just as much as a high level shield.

I've returned to the game after a year's absence - mainly to check out the new mining functionality. The hulks are a great improvement, but there seems to be a lack of ore-fields generally, especially high level. I see a lot of L50 manes patrolling empty fields. Nearly all of my favorite haunts have gone. The best fields have gone - or have they been moved? Wassup?
  3. Neat if a tutorial mission and/or video can be done but its a lot of work I guess. I think many new players would appreciate even just a 101 Getting Started walkthrough of controls, first steps, initial goals, the basics. I'd be happy to work with a few others to create something if there is a need????

  4. I'd prefer EnB to be a more harmonious community, but lets face it, people running round he galaxy shooting things are not likely to be the most liberal. I'd prefer the hotheads, ranters, bigots, racists, griefers and smuts to go elsewhere, but being what they are, they probably wont. No-one minds a bit of banter, but the red rag is politics, war, religion - best left out of New Players and taken to OOC. When they wont shut up its a pity a couple of hundred people have to put up with a handful of intolerant people spouting their agenda.

So I have a few options. Ask the worst offenders to take it elsewhere, turn off the channel, ignore them, or block them. If its really bad then there are the TOC and the GMs. No point complaining in the forum (like we are doing).

Like most people (?) I'm more likely to help people who are helpful and use 'New Players' for its proper purpose, and less likely to help those whose main goal in life seems to be rant, bully, radicalize and generally be a toe-rag.

  5. (hoping to be back in game in the next 24hrs - just back from a long trip)

Please, please, please - we DONT need a map with all the answers. Go find these spots. There are no surprises where the best orefields are. They are in the hardest systems. And they are not on the nav paths.

To find the hidden orefields you need to maximise your scan with skill/equip/activated and then go on a thorough and exhaustive search grid using free warp. It only takes 40mins to do a moderate sized system. Some systems are surprisingly big. And if you have see-cloak you just might trip over some interesting finds. Once you have found a dozen fields you'll realise that they are in pretty (un)obvious places.

I still grumble about the lack of interesting high end fields, with interesting high end mobs and hulks....but there are plenty of fields to discover.

Also the analogy with the MOB db is incorrect. The boss and mob locations, spawn times are not general knowledge and you still have to rely on discovery or player tips.

  6. I like it how it is. But if we ever get more people we need to look at spawn times.

Some fields like Glenn are far too easy. L8-9 should be guarded.

And an old plea for hulks to be resurrected to their former glory.

I'd like a few more fields to be created too. There are enough for the current population but not enough to bother looking for more.

I have noticed a few subtle changes in the way the roids are arranged. The rings are just boring - I like the more random approach.

I havent mined low level for a while - is it still 50 xp for L1-6 then 175/200/225 for 7-8-9. I think this should be incremental 25/50/75--175/200/225.

The Manes are dreadful in some places (Gaaaherns Rock) with very long lasting immobilisation effects. TS can survive with hull rpr but I dont knoe if JE can.

Glad the respawn effect is confirmed. Puts to bed the whining about cherry-picking.

As for macro miners - all id suggest is a failure to respond to a local chat gets you reported as a possible macro-miner, three strikes and a permanent ban.

I'd like to see a narrower selection of ores at each site. Makes it more selective, helps with cargo, and makes knowledge more important.

And PLEASE get rid of the helium placeholder.

  7. ...and if you are color-blind - well theres is always select and left-click....

What I find interesting is the way certain minerals modify the appearance of the roids. Remove the horusium (or whatever) and it looks different. Juicier roids look - well - juicier....

tbh - the color scheme works, and no point adjusting it to mirror historic patterns....????

  8. Not sure this helps anyone...

My old laptop, you can check the Local Cert and I got in fine - old XP.

Now PC has windows & - the Misc box is greyed out so I cannot check the Local Cert. Repeated tried (like dozens) gets you in eventually, but its not good when you get bumped out repeatedly (well twice).

  9. There were a lot of posts at the beginning of ST4 with sign up problems. You have to be sure the info you sign up with the forun is exactly the same as your game sign up. Email, pwd, username. How far have you got. ST4 sign up, email confirmation, ????

  10. Is this really too difficult to find out? enbdatabase.com, a notebook, and a memory that can remember 4 or 5 stations....? People build at SOMER, OMP, F7, NET7, JOVES for a reason. One page on a notebook....

(OK so some people do Paramis/BBW/Aragoth Prime/Jot/Endr)

I'd agree its annoying the first three times you visit 5 vendors to find the last is the one you are looking for, but use a pen and paper and note down (3), (Weaps),(4),(Devs/Eng/Shlds/Reactor),(7),(8),(1) and it gets you straight to where you want to be.....

    Is it an age thing?
