1. That's great Sleven. <_< Drones are easy - they use beams for the most part and not projectiles. I don't have problems with drones either, but they are only one set of mobs. Please don't try to tell me how I should use my skills, I am quite capable of playing a JD. My point is that PSI is even weaker now than it was just a couple weeks ago, and there was no reason to weaken it further. This post was about how PSi is calculated.

Edit: Sorry about that - wasn't meant as temper - just passion. ^_^
2. I would also like to know how the PSI numbers are calculated - hence the reason I started this thread. I wanted a Dev who has access to the the math to post if possible. It is the most convoluted description in the game as far as I am concerned

There is no item in game that increases the Skill level of PSI shield to L10. None. The best buff for the Psi Shield is just an added amount of damage absorption. As for having as much shielding as a L10 shield - perhaps, but the JD doesn't have a recharge shield skill nor an HDC buff.

Basically PSI Shield is a glorified Shield Cap buff.

At any rate since AoW fix, I can't spam PSI fast enough to be of any use, especially against projectile wielding mobs at CL50. It's not like JD can use a lower level tier PSI to spam faster. I guess there is no point in arguing or trying to get to anyone to realize the PSI needs to be much more powerful than it is currently. The PSI is not being calculated correctly. And for you other classes who actually think that using Psionic Invulnerabilty makes a JD invincible... well it doesn't and never has. Any L50 mob can wipe out the max PSI in less time than it takes to cast it.

It would be great if the math could be posted tho. Mind you I got a sinking feeling nothing will be done for the Jenquai Defender at any rate. There was no reason to put the AoW back to Live values at this time especially with the other JD skills not working correctly. Perhaps I will make a Progen, Terran or one of the new classes like the Devs want.

Way to make the JD even less fun to play...

3. But seriously folks.
This thread went sideways and I don't think anyone has been able to explain how the Improved Psionic Shield buff works. If would be great to get a developer to respond to this thread, explaining how the game handles Psionic Shields and the Improved Psionic Shield buff.
4. Yes that is true and a good way of looking at the situation. The spawn does need to be randomized, especially for a raid encounter. I am sure there is a reason for them not having the mob spawn in a random location, most likely due to coding. My apologies to Efialtis and VGE.

Just a side note. I wouldn't worry about getting flack for not revealing the location of any mob in this game. I would much prefer to find that information on my own or with a group effort, as the enjoyment of discovering something either serendipitously or thru hours of searching far exceed the satisfaction of playing this game paint-by-numbers. I mean if you need to have your hand held each and every step in the game, why even bother playing. It's pretty sad when people pout and whine when they don't get things like right now. Must have been spoiled as kids.

Again my apologies VGE and congratulations on your discovery.
5. Would it be possible to create a HUD MOD on top of the client? Adding MODs would allow a variety of HUDs to be chosen from a pick list, perhaps by way of a slash command. The client wouldn't be changed but added to, or perhaps this is just semantics from legals point of view.
6. With all due respect - it's a Jenquai Sector with a Jenquai beam, and it is a Dragon beam on top of that. It should not be for Progen at all. How could a Dragon/Dragonfly be anything BUT Jenquai or not made by Nishido?

The item for this mission should be mappable by all jenquai. You want to let Progen feel apart of the Mission but not JD's? If Dragons are not made by Nishido it should NOT be called a Dragon beam. If you feel everyone should be part of this mission then please change the items to reflect this and create a totally different beam and ML and have an experimental beam and ML made by Blacksun who are famous for making experimental weapons.

Makes absolutely no sense at all.
7. I have no difficulty understanding how it is supposed to be. I have already explained this thoroughly, Jens can't make all Progen Items nor can Progen make all Jen items. I am talking about some items being incorrectly labelled. And no the 3 races don't hate each other. Only The Progen and Jens hate each - because the Progen invaded Jenquai space. Terrans are neutral Capitalists. Progen are geneticists and Jenquai are technologists. This is why Terrans can make everything. Perhaps I am not the not with a difficulty in grasping concepts.
8. That is incorrect on the manufacturer then, as all dragon/dragonfly are manufactured by Nishido and not Blacksun. It is called a Nishido Green Dragon Laser for example in the Primaguide, old Earthandbeyond.ca website. Blacksun does make beams but only experimental beams and their own line of beams. For example the Blacksun Amethyst Annihilator, Emerald Devastator, all of the Baron Iku's, and the Gaze line. Only Nishido makes Dragons. I wouldn't put too much faith in the current Net-7 database.
9. Well I was more concerned about existing items that used to be mappable by Jenquai builders, but because the Race/Class Only tag is working incorrectly, all of those items are now not mappable. Example being the latest items, the Grey Dragon beam and the Grey Dragonfly ML. The beam is JT Only and the Grey Dragonfly has no restriction at all. They should both be Jenquai Only or Progen Restricted instead.

Show me any other Nishido item that is not able to be made by a Jenquai? They invented them! :w00t: All Nishido or even this Nishido knockoff should be able to be manufactured by all Jenquai and equipped by all Jenquai. Perhaps this beam was the wrong way to go for a race/class specific item.

I suggest that they make this beam like any other Nishido item, and make it both equippable and mappable by Jenquai. It should also be tagged as Progen Restricted like every other Nishido item should be. If the devs wish to have a JT only beam then perhaps they can design something along the line of Jenquai Only / Warrior Only Emerald Devastator. Make the item by Blacksun instead. Nishido was created by the Shoda-kan Masters for the Jenquai Race to protect itself. It's like not letting a Progen make or equip Sparta items. Every Sparta Item in game is Jenquai Restricted or Progen Only.

The Race/Class Only tag only applies to equipping the item not building it. Restricted means just that - restricted in all manners. May not build or equip.

I agree that Progens are in the same boat as Jenquai. If an item is Jenqual Only and not Progen Restricted, there should be no reason that a Progen builder should not be able to make it. The problem that exists is the Race Only tag is incorrectly working the same way as Race Restricted for both Jens and Progens. Item made by Blacksun for example that have the Progen only tag were able to be made by Jenquai. Basilisk, Claw of the Dragon, Versatile Oya, all are Progen Only and all could be made by any race.

All I am saying is that this particular beam should not restricted to Jenquai Defenders both in mapping and equipping it. It comes from a Jenquai sector after it, and we are there to defend it. Give the JT their own unique weapon from a drop, not through a mission like this.
10. LoL yah it does seem contradictory - however we have the technology already and can make most everything already - doesn't matter if Terrans stole it - that just allows them to catch up to Jens :)

I do not want to see Progen Lore added either, you are correct there is no need for it with the new classes. The problem lies with taking current items designed from Live and trying to make them restrictive to one class or race instead of creating a new class of items for those new classes. Storylines and new companies should be added to compliment the new classes, not take old stuff and tweak to suit the new classes, because someone will lose out - in this case it is Jenquai builders and that is unfair.

But that is just part of the storyline and the reason for Progen Lore. It really has nothing to do with the fact that Progen Only and Jenquai Restricted do exactly the same thing from the point of view of a Jenquai. They both have the same effect of not allowing Jens to map OR equip any time with that tag. My whole point in this is that the restriction tags placed on all items are not working correctly - and more specifically Progen Only tag.

Tags on items currently in game that were designed from Live should remain exaclty as they are and the restrictions should be applied appropriately.

I have no issue with new items being restrictive to my race/class.
11. Progen Lore was supposed to be implemented to let JE's make Progen Reactors, the ones that were Jenquai Restricted.

That's the only reason it was going to be introduced. This was added because they decided not to go ahead with the 3 new classes including the PP. Progen Lore had nothing to do with regular builds such as Progen Only devices or Jenquai Only beams. There was no Jenquai Lore or Terran Lore to let the other races make race restricted items for one good reason. Every other item in the game that could be mapped and built was already buildable by someone. Only Jenquai Restricted Progen reactors had no builder.
12. That not how it was in live Terrell. Thats all I am saying and no Progen Only only meant it was only Equipable by Progens. Full Stop.
If you wanted to make a reactor engine shield device restricted by a certain Race the make that item race restricted. Simple.

Jenquai are Tech Kings in the game. We have more technology than any race and yet we can not build most things? Hell the Terrans stole the Gate technology from Jenquai even and commercialized it. It seems this new incarnation is all about Terran - it revolves around Terrans and everything is done for Terrans. Jenquai input into the game be damned.

Let's keep this simple for now - maybe add the new items/lore/ storyline after we have a stable game that is as close to Live as we can make it.

And where does it say anywhere that Progen Only means buildable by Terrans and Progen? It doesn't say that anywhere because that's not how it was.
Again Progen Only or any Race Only item, meant that that item was only equippable by that race - not restricted to being mapped.

If an Item was meant to only be made my Progens and Terrans then its tag should read Jenquai Restricted. If that same item was only meant to be equipped by a PW than it should have the added tag of PW Only. This is how it was in Live. How else could my JD have been able to make all those Progen Only devices? There are lots of other tags that could be added to an item to further restrict it. We should get back to the proper protocol with tags and not make up thing like terrans can make anything regardless of the tag restriction.

Why not just give Terrans all builds and remove every other build from the other races and be done with it.
13. Well I am not sure why Terrans should be distinguishable by being the only race to build all 3 race items. It wasn't this way in Live. As I have stated many times before Jenquai were able to map and build Progen Only items, they were just not able to equip these items. The flip side was Jenquai Restricted items, no Jenquai was able to map or equip these items. The issue with Progen reactors was easliy solved by making all Progen reactors Progen Only - where a JE was able to make it but could never equip it. Nor could a Terran. Nnow we have the Progen Privateer who can also make reactors and this skill should be available to the TS as well and not the JT. I am not sure why we now have 2 Jenquai class that can make reactors at any rate. The restrictions on items should only go as far as not being able to equip the item if it restricted to your race or class.

But currently even these restrictions are messed up as my JD can not map a Progen Only Archos. I had this print in live because well, it was progen only - i could not equip it (even if my JD did have PL 9), it was not, and isn't Jenquai restricted. These 2 restriction currently mean exactly the same thing - no Jen can map OR equip it. Same goes for any of the devices meant for progen. Take Restore Septum or any other progen device. It is clearly marked as Progen Only - Jens can not map but Terrans can?
I could map lots of Progen device on my JD but could not equip in live.

If an Item is Progen Only - any race should be able to map it. If it is not meant to be made Jens but allow Terrans access to the build then it should be tagged as Jenquai Restricted.

Progen Only and Jenquai Restricted mean the same thing. Do you see where I am coming from? The Restriction tags need to be looked for each device and line and set appropriately. Take a look at the Nishido Line or Sundari Line. Half of the line is Jenquai Only and the other half is Progen restricted. It makes absolutely no sense at all.
14. If you want an item to be non obtainable any other class - make the MISSION JT Only and the item NT. As well this is a Nishido knock off, any Jenquai should have access to this. There are much better ways to do this I would think. Make it Progen and Terran Restricted and JT Only. It's a Jenquai item and as such any jenquai should be able to obtain and map it but not necessarily equip it. Why on earth would you want to go down that road of making an item mappable by just one class? This will just create more of a mess for the database. It would be best to stick with the same mapping/equipping protocol as before.

Progen/Terran/Jenquai Only and Progen/Terran/Jenquai Restricted.

Terrell the item is JT ONLY - no other race or class can equip it so no one else would ever go to a JT to have it made.
15. I am not sure I understand the reasoning behind as to why you would want to make something printable but not obtainable. Why not just make the item not printable by multiple classes to start is all? Perhaps tag the beam as Progen/Terran Restricted? It just that all Nishido come in pairs, Blue Dragon laser / Blue Dragonfly ML; White Dragon laser / White Dragonfly ML etc. each set has the same restriction as well. However the Grey Dragonfly ML has no restrictions at all and the Grey Dragon beam is J/T only. I would think these beams should have the same restriction as the dragonfly? Perhaps the device or the engine could have been set up with a restriction instead and have the Grey set be mappable?

Sorry I am a logical person - I just can't see it here :(
16. I was wondering, is there any possible way to change the Heads Up Display to include an animation to show when a skill has been activated, or is waiting for the cool down timer to run out? Currently skills in activation mode will usually have a sound associated with powering up, as well there is an animation that surrounds your ship to indicate what skill is currently being cast. However, sometimes due to lag or for whatever reason, the animation isn't visible, and all power ups have the same sound for every skill.

A suggestion, if possible, would be to momentarily brighten a skill on the HUD to indicate that the skill has been activated and has completed its power up cycle, and perhaps have the skill greyed out, if it is on a cool down timer. I would also love to see a real timer on each skill on the HUD, perhaps small numbers in the center of each skill, a countdown timer highlighted in red or yellow. It wouldn't even need to have the full duration of the skill, but only the last 5 or 10 seconds of the cool down for example. The rest of the time the skill would be greyed out indicating it's on a cooldown. This would allow players to know when that skill will become available for use again. When the cooldown has ended, the skill would return to it's normal colour.

I am not sure if the information on the HUD is client side, or can be patched or modded in some fashion. Hopefully there is a workaround?
17. Every one has had their items damaged after suffering a terrible death by a boss or perhaps a lot of little mobs ganging up on your toon. It could be a one shot volley by GoBB or his minions that incap you (or your Jenquai with no HDC, whereby you 10% quality on your NOS because you forgot to take it out), or it could have been because you went AFK while cloaked in a field of L13 mobs, and your reactor ran dry because you took too long to return, and they incapitate you, and you lose 14% on your brand new 200% HoTD.

In either scenario, once incapped, you lose quality on some item. That is just after one incapitation, and structure of the item goes to zero after one battle and incap.

Currently there really is no need for the Repair Equipment skill which JD/TE/PW have available to them. Most people if they get hulled and survive the battle, will either get a Hull Patch from the nearest friendly neighbourhood TT, or just plain and simply dock their ship for repairs, which also fixes any structural damage on their items. I have rarely, if ever, used my Repair Equipment skill in a raid.

I would suggest that whenever a player is being hulled that the structure on the items (and more than just one item can be included) decreases slowly, so that it will take at least a half dozen times of being hulled for the structure of an item to finally reach zero and the item starts to lose quality. This would mean that where would be no quality loss from being one shot by Boss/Raid Boss.

If structure loss is spread out over a longer period of time, players will notice that their items need to be repaired and will actually ask for repair equipment in a raid. As well currently there really is no time to use Combat Repair in battle, as the structure goes from 100% to 0% in a couple of shots. Much too fast to even begin to do a repair in battle. I want to hear someone say, "Quick repair my stuff!!"

I remember in Live doing a Fishbowl with 6 groups, all of the Warriors using their Repair Equipment skill after each wave to make sure everyone's items were at 100% structure to avoid a loss in quality on their items. Not only did it look awesome with all those robots fixing everyone's ship systems, but it was actually a useful skill. People used to asked for Repair Equipment as often as they did for a Hull Patch.

As a Jenquai Warrior, I would love to be able to utilize all my skills. I feel this would make the Repair Equipment skill, much more valuable than it is currently. I might even consider putting more points into the skill to make it raid worthy.
18. It is a class restricted item - however that is only for equipping an item - not mapping it. The Grey Dragon beam should be mappable by any class with build weapons save for progens, and only then if it marked as Jenquai only and not Progen Restricted. Jenquai and Terrans for sure should be able to get the print for this beam.
19. Well if the ship would turn to face the mob on the spot instead of moving first that would help. No matter where the mob is. If it's behind me, the ship will do a 180 and then start thrusters, Hitting space to follow will only work if you have a mob targeted anyways Littlej, the problem is the ship starts moving first and then tries to line up while moving - 2 vectors at once. it would be best to orientate first then move.
