Game hangs when I try to create a character

That didn't work. I'm not really sure what the issue is here, should I try reinstalling? -
Hi, I'm using the updated launcher and client. I'm able to get in game, login, and get through the whole character creation process, but when I press "PLAY GAME" nothing happens for about 30 seconds, and then the game says "LOST CONNECTION TO GLOBAL SERVER" and closes. A little help?
