  1. The devices (not AA) in asteroids thing was a bug. I understand why you guys would be sad that devices are no longer in roids, but it had to go. It got fixed just like any other bug. I hope you enjoyed it while it lasted even though it was unintentional, but don't expect device filled roids to be back. The bug that had devices and other equipment in asteroids definitely hurt our economy. We are better off without them.

  2. as time goes on we will implement better hulk tables. This will probably mean a much wider variety of items (more junk and more good items), removal of any quest/boss drops in hulks, and changing drop rates of hulk to vary depending on usefulness (so the nice stuff doesn't drop as often as it is- remember prototypes were pretty rare in live)

  3. you will need to download the Character and Starship Creator from the downloads section: https://enb-emulator.com/index.php?/topic/138-character-starship-creator/

after you have it, make a shortcut to it on your desktop or where ever you want. Then right click the shortcut and go to properties, go to the shortcut tab and find target. add

    -noclassrestrictions

    after the last "

double click that shortcut and make a character using the arrows to scroll between classes instead of clicking the class names. make sure the character slot your new character is put in is open in your earth and beyond account and it will import automatically the next time you run EnB.

unfortunately we don't have a way to make this less complicated, so let us know if you need help.

  4. Second: yesterday mining the roids in Glenn I saw Kenuje with Barbiegirli picking the devices from the "candy-store" and after that the server was down and all the devices gone.

Too many devices in and buddies should get them first.

    WTF

    what's going on?

Barbie started mining in the field I was testing. This field was bugged (but so were many many other fields) so I decided it'd be funny to shoot the "bug exploiter" with a eyeball.

(9):23:28:35 [General] Kenuje [DEV]: oh? a roid explosion? someone's about to get eyeballed

then I chuckled, went back to work and later mined a few devices from the roids I fixed waiting for the server to shut down. I don't even know who barbie is, I thought it was a magoo alt, but that's blondie.

This "candy store" you're talking about had been open for at least a month and had been exploited by many many players.

  5. There is a bug currently where Unidentified Ancient Artifacts are being found at high chances in asteroid fields. These devices are useless at the moment, though they were very powerful during live. Because of the outbreak of these ultra-rare devices we will eventually remove these devices from your inventories and vaults once we make sure they are dropping extremely rarely or not at all. This will happen before players are able to identify them and use them so there is no point hanging on to them now.

Don't waste your vault/inventory space with these useless devices that are going to be removed before they become useful. This is a warning so players don't sacrifice valuable inventory space stockpiling these items thinking they will become useful later. They will be removed and you will have hogged up vault space/inventory space for nothing.

Sorry to break the news, but I'd rather you space them now or at least know it is pointless to hold on to them before they are removed and before you are upset for wasting all that space on them. :)

  6. The EnB Emu development team is wondering, what development do you want for xmas? What do you want us to develop as an xmas gift to you?

    Rules:

    1. no instant gratification requests ("I want an archos! or 100mil credits!")

    2. no asking for sectors that don't fit in the storyline yet (Der Todesengel, Ardus, Maelstroms)

  7. I think we all know that this behavior you're talking about is not how EnB should go. The question is more of Is this how EnB is going? To me it seems like the community is nicer than it was in live. People have had six years to grow up. Unfortunately not everybody grew up, but I feel like we have a tendency to put EnB live on a pedestal.

  8. A little off-topic but I thought I would ask. Who are the active devs, GM's, admin, etc right now? Or is that list pretty variable? A few people who have been MIA on the boards in a while like David, Suricata, Merlin, (I think I saw a post from Byakhee a couple weeks ago), anyone else I'm missing?

Active content and code developers are something like this:

Kenu, Kyp, Byakhee, Evermore, Hexergirl, Riia, Tienbau, David, Peteburn, Webby. and maybe one or two I'm forgetting.

Suricata is bogged down with life at the moment, so evermore has taken over mob work and Merlin is around (he is on teamspeak often) but his computer is having problems with EnB. Hopefully that will get resolved soon.

Not sure about the active GM team or active Admins, but don't forget Cdel and Slayerman are helping too.

As far as wipes go, the next one will either be before beta or before live. We will only wipe when absolutely necessary, but if we don't wipe at certain times (like before beta) it might cause problems once we go live. We would prefer not to wipe before beta and will only do so if it is absolutely necessary. When that time approaches we will see if we have to.

What exactly would you like a guarantee of? that we won't wipe? or that we will only wipe when absolutely necessary?

  9. I am not aware of any items being removed by devs. It's probably a coding bug. It might be affecting these really nice items because they are the items being used frequently by players.

If it is not a bug and a dev has done this without informing us, we will talk to them and make sure it doesn't happen again without being absolutely necessary. Give our coders some time to look to see if it's a bug. I'm guessing that's the case.

  10. I checked the spawn timer for the blinding voltoi as well as all other voltoi in the area. They are set to the default spawn timer which is somewhere between 30 seconds and a minute. I don't know why they would be taking so long to respawn.

but how are you managing to kill seven 58ish voltoi in 2 minutes? shouldn't they be more difficult to solo?

  11. It would be difficult for us to make a list like this and keep it updated since that would require coordination from all our mission developers to keep it accurate.

I myself as one of the mission developers don't really want to have another responsibility on top of my development work. The community could make a list and update it nearly as well or better than we could though.

  12. The Mordana were planned to be implemented in the immediate future, but that does not mean in the next content update.

Someone might have assumed that because we were talking about adding it, that means it would be implemented in the next patch, but that is not the case.

The forums are more likely to contain definite development answers than ingame because on the forums all the developers can see what is being said.

sorry for getting your hopes up, but the Mordana will be added when we can get it added. If you're looking for updates on their progress, send me a PM and I'll keep you posted.

  13. There's a trend these days for games to tell their users exactly where to go and exactly what to do. EnB is an old game and back when it was live it was not always specific in telling you where to go for missions. The JE level 30 hull upgrade mission is actually more specific than it was in live (also, I did a fix this month to make it a bit more specific).

I know that players get frustrated with missions not telling them where to go especially if nobody will answer their question about it, but is it really in the spirit of EnB to be sure of what to do all the time? This game has three main elements: Combat, Trade, and explore. This is a space combat game, it is a space trading game, and it is a space exploration game. There is little point of exploring when you are told exactly where to go and what to do all the time. If you need to ask someone, ask someone. Otherwise, you will find it eventually. If you think the looters are too hard to find, let me know.

We are leaving some missions vague for the sake of giving players reason for exploration and thought. This is how EnB was and making all missions very specific is not in the spirit of the game as we understand it. We will leave you some clues for the most part, but you will still have to explore.

  14. Sorry to sound a bit rebellious here...

You mean this comment if I am not mistaken:

Well, I'm really not sure how to put this.

Banning the camping of bosses and non-stop raiding is a bit like telling people to stop breathing...

As for macro-ing, has that really been banned? Last I heard the same rules as during live apply: attended macro-ing is allowed.

It's ok to camp boss spawns. But camping them only to keep good items away from other players is NOT ok. Kill the boss, get the items you need, get some for your friends even. Take what you want and need, but don't hoard. Let other players have a turn every once and a while.

  15. First of all if you see any guilds or players affecting the gameplay of other players like camping lots of bosses or raids nonstop please at least send the GMs a report. Report anybody you suspect is macroing and we will investigate. It is not ok for powerful guilds to intentionally hurt the game experience for others. It is not ok for ANYONE to intentionally hurt the game experience for others.

But it is equally not ok to take shots at guild leaders and say they need medication/counseling, are whackjobs, or losers.

If you want us to seriously consider a suggestion like this you are going to have to rephrase your statement.

There are some big guilds in this game, but as far as I know we haven't received many reports of them abusing other players/guilds. If they are, send the GMs PMs and let us know. With no references or proof, making a topic like this is not a good way to tell us.

  16. they will certainly be back in game, not for a while though probably. I think they should still be ultra rare, though a little more common than live since we have a smaller playerbase.

I don't think you'll be able to identify the ancient artifacts you have now. UnID'd artifacts drop rates will either be lowered before the next playerwipe or we will remove the artifacts from players if found to be in excess. No point in having a rare item drop if everyone has a ton of them the day they are released.
