I've noticed a problem with the character skill planner which affects the JE and the PS. It's the footer at the bottom of the page "2005 Net-7 Entertainment" etc. With the JE and PS that footer overlaps on top of the Shield Tech skill and I can't add point to it. When I try and click on the arrows to add points it just highlights the text in the footer. You either need to make the page longer or make the planner smaller, or add a scroll bar or something. If you could have a look at it anyway. Cheers!

Thanks, Stanig. I agree that in ST4 the hulks were far too numerous. I just think that the adjustment down may have been a little too much, seeing fields of 30 hulks reduced to 3 for instance as with the ones in Jot at the mining platforms. Then again I'm just bitching because I need a cent gene map for the 50 HU and my crappy CL5 JE has to mine it, rather than kill a CL 17 progen. As a suggestion, is there a way to increase the number of hulks a little but alter the loot table to keep proto's rare but still allow for the other things that we need, like gene maps, to be available? But anyway, thanks for the response, and thanks for all the hard work.

Thanks for the reply. So I'm not going nuts after all, that's good to know. I don't suppose we can get some Dev input on this to explain what happened can we?

I've just started playing again in Live and I've noticed that every time I go to hulk fields I'm seeing far fewer hulks than I saw in ST4. Where I used to see 15 or 20 I'm now seeing 3 or 4. I've tried 4 different hulk fields so far and at different times of the day. Is this just bad timing or has some change been made to the size of hulk fields? If anyone can confirm or deny this I'd appreciate it because it's driving me nuts. Hulk mining was something I really enjoyed in ST4. I'm really hoping it hasn't been nerfed into oblivion.

In! Thanks, Zack.

Something I just noticed. For the last 45 minutes or so the Net7 launcher is showing 126 players, no change at all. Now that's wierd. Definately something wrong there.

I see the server is up but I keep getting a login failure. Server failed to respond to login sector. This is on 2 accounts and different characters in different sectors.

Crash? Just lost connection and showing offline
-
Been trying with and without local cert for an hour or more now, still getting inv-300 error.

I think the server just died again @ 12:07 GMT. Tried putting the IP in the launcher and it's showing offline. Can anyone else confirm that?

It was down at 9 am GMT, now noon GMT and still down so at least 3 hours offline. No lunch time session for me, bah!

were you using local cert? I can't see how you'd need to touch the hosts file otherwise. Local cert is really just an emergency login thing I knocked up for the beta testers before we went live when the certificate ran out and I didn't know how to go about getting it updated.
During the dev server failure you needed to leave the launcher running for about 5 mins to get the 'play' button, type the IP address in the bar, ensure you're not using local cert and it connected - well that's how I got in anyway.
There was a stage that lasted for about 1-2 hours where the login system had gone down and not restarted but this was fixed as soon as I found out about it.
I tried it with the box for local cert ticked and didn't connect so I unchecked it again but still failed to connect, that's when I went into debug mode and saw it was a simple name resolution problem. I suppose editing the hosts file would be a bit extreme for the average user but as a network engineer it seemed the obvious fix. Works too

Editing your hosts file seems a bit extreme when you could have just typed the temp IP into the launcher address window.
Putting the IP in the launcher would let you see the server was up but you wouldn't connect. I tried this several times with no luck so I had to try and figure out what was going on so I could fix it. I ended up checking the debug option in the launcher and I could now see the problem was an error resolving local.net-7.org.
At this point I went through all the CFG files I could find in the net7 directory and sub directories. I found the lines pointing to local.net-7 but I was reluctant to edit these files so I needed an answer elsewhere. That's when I decided the only was to connect was to add a line in the hosts file for local.net-7.org. That line is now edited out with a #.
Editing the hosts file wasn't extreme, it was the only way to get a connection to the server that I could come up with.

If you run the S&SC it won't give the new classes by default. You have to go into the properties of the shortcut and at the end of the target line where the .exe is, leave a space after the .exe" and add -noclassresrictions, so like this "c:\path to file.... blah blah.. .exe" -noclassrestrictions
If you run it from the shortcut you now get the new classes, but only if you use the left/right buttons to cycle through.
