  1. Fantastic! Thanks for the reminder. One question. Never having done this before with the Character Creator (even with the standard race/professions), does a character created with that tool automatically import into the game's character list (if there's space in the toon list), or does this only work if the game's character list is empty?
  2. Yep, that was it exactly. Thanks for the input friends!
  3. After playing for a while yesterday (first successful login) I decided to log off. I approached Luna and selected "dock". It was my 3rd dock at Luna, the first two being without trouble. This time the game threw me to the desktop. Now today my account doesn't seem to be present or active any more? My login and password are not recognized? Curious if there is a related thread to this. If not, then I'm curious whether there is a known issue that causes this? Any input or advice would be welcome. If I need to create a new login/pw then I can do that too. Thanks!
  4. This evening's patch let me in. Quite pleased really! Few issues, though the 3rd time I docked into Luna the game dumped me to the desktop. I'll continue to wrangle with it, but this is a spectacular step in the right direction for a player who hasn't seen the game in a long long time. Woohoo!
  5. Perhaps unrelated, but I heard a rumor from someone that the originally unreleased professions that had been present in the unlocked character creator (Terran Explorer, for instance) were available. I don't know if that's a function of the unlocked character creator or another facet of a limitation of this go-round in terms of getting into the game. If I'm doing something particularly knuckleheaded, don't hesitate to let me know. Retested my sequence of login tests. Still an issue. I'm going to try to run the two applications without XP emulation and NOT in admin mode, and then will try various permutations thereof (just for grins/testing outcomes really. No expectation of success) but then will wait for the heroic devs to report that whatever is obstructing new characters has been relieved.
  6. For the purposes of... well frankly of keeping my hands busy and perhaps lucking into a workaround that will get me into game, I've been going through variable login sequences to try to see if there's something I was doing wrong. First, in Win7 I had already set the Net7 Launcher to run in xp emulation and admin mode. A friend suggested I run the E&B exe in admin mode as well to see if that might have some infuence. It doesn't. "Server unavailable" at the end of the character creator sequence when you try to log into Sunrise. I then tried (for grins) different race/professions, then cookiecutter templates (no modifications/customizations of the character or ships), then a client-side reboot and isolated application run. No difference. I'm certainly not capable of establishing definitively that this is a server-side error, but I'm running out of client-side tests!
  7. Thanks Orion. I didn't connect the dots between your thread and mine. I should have!
  8. After having gone through what appeared to be a reasonably problem-free install, I dove into the loader with the hope of seeing the game in action again. My circumstance now is that after going through the character creator and then selecting what appears to be the active server (Sunrise - which reports a percentage of usage which may or may not actually be active players?), I'm informed that the server is unavailable. Have I done something wrong in my process which is prohibiting me from connecting, or is this procedural (ie. controlled usage for certain players)? I'm using Win7, admin on the Net7 loader. All else seems to be working fine. Thanks for any help
  9. Believe me, I can accept that! I do a fine job of sabotaging my own gaming experience. Thanks for the observation. I'll try to work around it.
  10. Good evening! Having toyed on and off with this over some amount of time, I just recently gave it another shot on a newly Win7'd machine. All appears to be pretty positive in terms of progress save for the client update freezing at the same spot on multiple login attempts. The client updater box reads "Version cannot be determined", and the New Version is "50". The path is standard default. Progress of the patch goes fairly well up to the point where it wants to download m..... Wait! I need to change the title of this thread (so done). It seems to be moving again. After what appeared to be a freeze of nearly 15 minutes! I don't know if there are known "hitches" in the process of downloading/updating the client, but there are at least a pair of files that seem (at least on my system) to take a while to negotiate. I'm in what appears to be the second big hitch, a file for which the destination + name are too long to properly communicate (net7config.exe - 1,724,636/1995,77etc). So, the question now has become "are the hitches in the client update known, or is it just me?" If this is at all an issue that the clarification can assist in the smoothing out process of delivering the app, great. If not, please do feel free to delete this thread (or command me to). Thanks!
