  1. 8. Lastly, rebalance weapon damage and deflects, and make it by the type of enemy (mechanical vs organic). Example, Plasma damage just rocks out, so there's really no point in using any other kind at low-mid levels. I suggest lowering Plasma damage and bumping the other kinds across the board (and I have a TE so this is a nerf to me, but it's for the best). Also, making Plasma damage do much less against a mechanical (metallic hulls resist burning pretty well) and explosive/impact do less against organics would be pretty authentic as well. With this change, you'd need to be prepared for the type of enemy you'd be fighting, instead of just going with Plasma 'cause it pwns all. We'd also see a lot more diverse crafting going on.

out of curiosity have you ever used, or seen in use even, a Plasma torch? Metallic hulls really wouldn't stop it much more than flesh

  2. You have picked up a image and tried to link it as a avatar or some such..the image you have tried to link (maybe not intentional) is not compatable with this page. So the software does its best and translates it in computer language. Read it..your image had a border of a certain size and color..with a background of another color..with a image of whatever...it's the way you would write to insert a JPEG or GIF or somesuch. I don't know what you have to do to link a image thats compatable..usually a service like photobucket or firefox is used. If you intended to link a image then you will have to see this forums restrictions and meet them to do so.

I agree it looks like I'm trying to link an image, but unfortunately I'm not, and it only shows up in posts I try to edit

  3. I, like many people, haven't bought an EA Games item since sunset and I know the general populace's hatred of EA Games, but I think investing in the complete Command and <qtlend></qtlend>Conquer package might be a good idea for in game history.

Examples? Terran Scout starter area is littered with GDI ships, Global Defense Initiative was a faction in the Tiberium series of C&C. Tiberium is a minable resource. GDI and Brotherhood of Nod decals are available in the character creator. And the last piece of evidence I have: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scrin (like all Wiki's it's long winded but if you actually read through it and compare it to what you remember of the V'rix in live I'm sure you'll find quite a few similarities).

I'd even go so far as to say that a lot of the Jenquai technology was stolen from previous encounters with the Scrin (see the technology section of the above Wiki).

  4. I was raised by members of an extremely religious cult and when I broke out I swore like a sailor, so I can kinda see both sides here. The thing is I've always kept a highly trained "brain to mouth (or in the case of chat: fingers) filter", I could be hanging with friends, cussing up a storm and the second an elderly person or child walked in the room I'd instantly switch to "clean speech" while keeping the mood the same.

    <br><br>

    1) You may not harass, threaten, embarrass, stalk, or cause distress, unwanted attention, or discomfort to another player.

<br><br>Essentially, what it all boils down to this: At no point in time should one person invade upon the rights/comfort level of another. This includes swearing AND harassing someone because they swore. Sure, slip ups occur, but when they do is an "I'm sorry" or "I apologize" or even just "sorry" totally out of the question? And to those that MUST say something to the swearer.... Say it once and be done with it.

<br><br>I feel I must point out that I was one of the no names online that night and from what I saw of that whole conversation/argument it was those defending the swearing that kept the conversation going for at least 1.5 hours (I say at least because after that I gave up and turned off New Players) thereby affecting MY comfort lvl.

  5. In the plans for the V'rix, I have a few suggestions:

    (1) Add mordanite asteroids back to the game, so we can stockpile.

    (2) Have them initially be merely irritating and allow us to choose whether or not to build faction with them (AFTER the faction problem with resetting to defaults on server reboot is FIXED). Also allow quite a few months before the V'Rix even begin to think about whether or not to go to war.

    (3) Allow the V'Rix to learn the joy of spaces between words in their communications!

    (4) After a significant period of time, have the V'Rix choose to ally, stay neutral, or go to war based on the percentage of the players who have gained faction with them. If they choose alliance or war, the players who have boosted their faction with them should enjoy the benefits. Maybe there could be new V'Rix areas with V'Rix bases! Maybe some players could help the overall V'Rix economy by selling to them [if they have enough faction]. If the V'Rix economy grows large enough, maybe the V'Rix hating player scum can be attacked with such powerful ships that they will be eliminated! Oops... I wasn't supposed to say that out loud. Good thing I'm typing, not talking, huh? :P

While I don't remember the full story of how/why the V'rix invaded and the war started, I'm pretty sure it started like most wars we/they have something they/we want (and I'm pretty sure it's more than just Mordanite) perhaps food, technology or even maybe one of the class leaders has a baby V'rix as a pet (sounds like that *&^%$ DeWinter if you ask me) and the family wants it back. As far as your suggestion: "allow quite a few months before the V'Rix even begin to think about whether or not to go to war." I don't think that's going to happen and here's why: You live in the US, suddenly the US is swarmed with heavily armed persons from both Mexico and Canada, don't you think the United States government is going to send out troops to hold them back? Eventually somebody fires the first shot and guess what happens next? War.

As far as the economy goes, you probably won't be able to sell them any trade goods. Likely the human races would have put a trade embargo on the V'rix and could set up patrols to inspect cargo holds. Likely, the only stuff the patrols would let through would be resources and junk loot (actually resources probably wouldn't be allowed in a real war time scenerio, but I listed it for those miners that like to keep their resources in their hold while they look for more).

Now on the point of faction: In my personal opinion, the Jenquai (at the very least the Sha'ha'dem) are less likely to to shoot first, they might try to investigate why the V'rix invaded and attempt a peaceful resolution. Back in Live I compared the races with "the main players" in Star Trek: The Next Generation (Sha'ha'dem = Vulcans, Shinwa = Romulan, Terrans = Humans, or maybe Ferengi surgically altered to look hu-mon, Progen = Klingon and the V'rix were kinda like the Borg).

had one of my odd brainstorms, JEs have shield leech, JDs have energy leech, what if JSs had a type of hull leech (kinda like nanobots eating away at the opponents hull), maybe the nanobots could repatch the JS's hull, but that's up for debate. I think it'd make a very nice combat skill.

this idea seemed to please a couple people, but I had one addition so as to no make the JS too powerful:

I'd say even if the JS had a Hull Leech kind of skill that you would still have to take down the shields, just as if you would in normal combat, perhaps you couldn't activate the skill until the opponent's shields were "critical" status or something like that

  9. Let me guess that the roids were around +25 or -25 Kilometers on the Z-axis? If so, then that is a result from the Developer, of that Sector, making a very small Depth buffer.

    - Marco

Currently mining in Adriel Prime with my TS and it seems the floor & ceiling is somewhere around +/- 9.5 on the z (or at least that's were the warp anomaly seems to start). Another sector I've noticed this in is Inverness but offhand I couldn't tell you where that one's floor & ceiling are.

  10. This may not be in the right spot for this discussion, but has anyone else noticed that when roids spawn either high or low on the "z axis" and you try to warp to them you get just so close to them and snap back (sometimes even farther than where you started)? The end result is you have to thrust to the roid(s) and this ends up taking so long (my TS had to thrust 14.35k for one in Adriel Prime). I was just curious if anyone else has noticed this, and if so: do these roids affect the field clear bonus, and (maybe) if there's anything the Devs can do to prevent the roids from spawning too high or low?

  11. Here's a list of what I was told to save for builders:

    Appolonite

    Raw Eye Stone

    Horusium

    Discordite

    Titanium

    Rhodite

    Curium

    Star Iron Ore

There's also a quest that requires Plutonium (refined from lvl 2 asteroids).

very helpful, thanks. However, I would suggest listing the lvl of all these resources, aside from Titanium (lvl 5) and Star Iron (lvl 3) I don't remember what lvls they are. I only remember those two because my TT is in current need of them (well Star Iron double refined to Star Steel). Also do you know if these are best left refined or unrefined, a while ago I was told to keep Titanium unrefined because a builder needed it for ammo components.

  12. There's the increased hold-size of the scout versus something like Wormhole of the JE.

Obviously youre getting around much quicker from place to place with wormhole.

And cherry pickers don't really care too much about hold size.

I guess the only advantage is that you don't need to cherrypick so much with the TS as with the JE/PS :P

But for speed I doubt anything can get around like a JE.

out of curiosity, what are you considering cherrypicking, searching a minefield for just one ore and mining just that ore, or are you including searching a minefield for one ore and emptying whatever roids you find with that ore in them? I admit to being guilty of the second example lately while looking for Osirium for (what appears to be) a bugged mission. BTW I should mention that if you stick with fields that contain only one type of resource (rocks, glowing rocks, crystals, or clouds) JEs and possibly PSs shouldn't run out of cargo space, it's the mixed fields I have trouble with on my JE.

  13. Sometimes I use /removeinv - It removes items that you can't get rid of, sometimes you might have to manually remove some items.

Example: For the Jenqaui Explorer the Aspirant's Insignia doesn't get removed from your inventory when you get the Strange Object so you must remove it yourself this command is the only way.

NOTE: Store any items in your vault that you don't want removed, this effect is permanent.

I've tried this and get "Illegal slash command: removeinv"

    actual command is /restoreinv

  14. in your subject its 13 people and then in your post its 3-5 :) ? what is it... and how do you know they are all run by the same person is there something in there tag that says so? and how is that different than a group of 3-5 different people doing the same thing...

like you, i'm a solo'ish' player and run up against grps a lot get used to it or report it... in live people in my guild always hunted in grps and if we were solo and a grp came in the area we would call in a few groups of guildies to chase them away...

however, I would be willing to get "One Large Cheese Pizza, just for you"

I believe 13 is supposed to apply to one of the Terms of Service

  15. Well, I am dissappointed with you all, I leave for 3 months and my account is not even listed!!! What is going on, I do not remember getting any emails or notices that account was being deleted. When I spoke to Dave and a couple others before the operation, they assurd me that I would still have the account here. Why was this done??????? And the site sticks in IE8 even under compatiblity mode, page loading is over 60sec or longer when switching between the forums and members list, and there were a few times it did noe even load the page.

Well, if you want any more help from someone that was with the core group back when the stress tests were starting, then please answer these questions and see about getting my account back. IF not the oh well.

    War

What "Dave and a couple others" couldn't have told you is that the server would have some major problems, all forum accounts were deleted and/or lost, and for a few days the emulator portal wasn't even up. https://enb-emulator.com/index.php?/forum-5/announcement-1-server-crash/ As far as the "site sticks in IE8" I can't help you, I haven't used Internet Exploder for a few years with the sole exception of using it to browse to Mozilla's page to download and install Firefox on a new machine, sorry.

Quite frankly, if anything we should be disappointed with you, for getting so *&^%$y when no-one answered your first post right away. People have lives outside of the forums that need to be attended to.

  16. first off I gotta ask: Who'd get mad at you for suggesting paying for a game we can play for free? They need the donations to keep the server up and running. In fact I feel guilty playing without paying, but right now I can't work and have zero income.

As far as hobby vs. making it a full time gig, from what I understand the Devs are working on the game in their free time (ie: they get off work, come home and work on the game, with -maybe- some family time). I don't think they plan on quitting their jobs, but who am I to predict the future? How the Devs got together and figured out who did/does what, I don't know, and would be interested to find out the whole story of how they decided to start this whole project.

  17. Quick question on reactor build skill. Can Jenquais make progen reactors at all or is there some kind of game restrictions on that. And vice versa, can PP make Jenq reactors?

    Thanks!

As long as something isn't "Jenquai restricted" then a Jenquai can build it (I have to admit I'm not sure about "Progen Only" or "Terran Only") and vice versa
