Last night I found a 150% lvl2 proto engine... Works great on my PW. I've also been finding a lot of devices analyze as well, to include a lvl1 and 2 warp kaza right in the PS starter sector.
I do remember the proto weapons were sub-par compared to the player made items in live. It would be nice to see these buffed up a bit seeing as how they require looted/player-made components for ammo.

If there's no one in the sector give a shout in the New Players channel. Depending on your timezone there's usually a few people there willing to give a hand.

If you are talking about the "aa" items then yes they will be going in sooner or later. I know everyone is in a big hurry for stuff to get put into the game and work correctlly, but this is the real world and to get stuff just right takes alot of time. I spent over 50 hours over the weekend putting together the item list for the hulks and will spend countless hours seeding the hulks as well, so sit back and enjoy it now as once things get ballanced out you may long for the days when you could find all the good stuff instead of maybe getting 1 or 2 like in live.
I forget what they were called... All I remember is that you had to get them identified so it would "unlock" the item. It probably was the aa items.
We all appreciate what you're doing for the Explorer community. Things of this scale do take time and I'm willing to wait and watch it evolve into fruition. I don't know what the master plan is so don't take my comments the wrong way. I can only talk about what I've experienced since the patch.
-
Hmm... Don't know what to say. Keep trying? It wasn't a problem when I did it.
Maybe prospect a bit and level up EL and TL so you can get better shields/reactor?
They may have beefed up the starter area mobs a bit too much last patch.

After playing around this weekend I'm liking the new hulks... Just a few observations though:
- It's a cherry-picker's dream. Many of the fields I come across have already been comed over and I end up just clearing the field just so it'll respawn for the next person in a few hours. I'm glad debris stacks.
- I'm finding a lot of prototype equipment in the lower level fields (lvl6 down). In one field (Jove Ruins I believe) I found two lvl5 and one lvl6 proto-engine in addition to a bunch of misc proto-weapons + ammo. It just seems like they are dropping too much. Maybe seed in some more mundane items to thin them out.
- Are the unidentified items in game? I haven't seen any yet and I used to like them in live. It's like unopened presents and you're just dying to see what's inside.
More as I think of them.

So... Who do we talk to to get the promotion master mission? An NPC or GM? My current mission list is empty since I did my lvl50 HU a few days ago.
-
Hmm... Neat!
Don't know if I like the 24 hour respawn timer tho. You could get a case where only people in a certain timezone get to see them. Maybe make it 22 or 26 hour just so the time of day changes as people prospect it.
-
Well, last night I ended up cherry picking myself. I needed to collect 100 Wreckage Slag in under 4 hours for my HU. There was no way I was going to get that much clearing whole belts. So in that case it's justifiable I guess.
Maybe we should start CPA meetings...
Hello... My name is Zyrith... And I'm a cherry picker! *sobs*

It's already in game. I forget what it is but it's listed in the controls menu. CTRL-click or ALT-click.
Now if there was only a "refine all in hold" button.

I'm trying!

Ofcourse, if there were stuff from the graphics department that if you are online longer that your ship looks continuously more scratched, dented and used...that would be nice
I don't need to be playing long for that to happen. It's usually the reason why I have to dock so much. If my ship's not on fire then I haven't tried hard enough.

I had no problems moving. Just move towards the gate as you enter the sector. The station is just over the hill. The gate spits you out beneath the hillside for some reason.
-
What I've gathered so far is the gates aren't limited in distance (as far as we know) or by changes in distance (the solar system and galaxy isn't static). The gates were put in place by who-ever because they wanted to get to a certain place from a certain location and vice-versus. It's starting to make sense to me now that I'm relearning the back story and why the map is the way it is now.
It would be neat to have gates change though due to warring factions and the like. Or new gates built through some epic mission that a whole faction or groups of factions need to complete.
-
Make gates periodically change their direction.
I think I just heard the entire Dev/GM team around the world collectively cringe at the thought.

well just to have some fun with this... isnt pluto no longer a planet? and tbh I really feel bad for Pluto... I mean all those years of planet status and then one day BAM! now your nothing... personally... I still call Pluto a planet and always will
If Pluto is a planet then you must call Ceres a planet. Might as well get Eris, Makemake, and Haumea in on the action too. So we either have 8 planets or 13 planets, take your pick. Hehe
Anyhoo... Back on topic. It doesn't matter where in the solar system you put the inter-solar gates. What's a few million miles difference when you're talking scales of 4+ light-years just to get to the closest star?
But I'll agree with the intra-solar gates. They could (should?) be Acceleration Gates... Why is Pluto and Mercury even connected? Shouldn't Mars and Jupiter have more links to AB{A,B,G} than Saturn?

This should probably go into the Suggestions Forum now that I think of it.
Hopefully it wouldn't require client modification.

OR... If the recent build list would be too hard to implement...
Make it function like the list for refining ores that shows what you could refine... The first page in the build list would show a list of items you could build with the components currently in your hold. You could quickly click on the item instead of searching through the drop downs. (You could still search through the drop downs to look something up however.)
I don't know how hard it would be to transfer some of the refine code over.

I'd love some long explory type missions... And by long I don't mean "Mine 50 unit(s) of lvlX Unobtainium" either.
A good 50+ step mission that takes you all around the galaxy to places you may of overlooked or take you to some hidden mining spots.
-
Thanks! That should help as every rock I seem to mine is always 2-4km away. Plus you can now make the choice... Do I want to get there quick or conserve a bit of reactor?
-
If you click credits it takes you to the forum. I find that handy when in full-screen mode.
-
True, I didn't think to take in account of the new ore field densities. That could be skewing my memory of what we could do in Live. Still I've adapted and have gotten used to crawling to the nearest rock. No biggie.
-
Heh, I just found out about the field clearing bonus last night. It was a pleasant surprise as I wasn't expecting it. Back in Live I usually mined everything in sight.
So as it stands now you have 30min to clear a field before the rocks start respawning?
How is it determined as to who gets the bonus if there's multiple miners?
With a 30min timer I could see a contention if more miners are online. Yeah we could find another area but everyone has their favorite spots.
Might I suggest instead of a field clear bonus or rock clear bonus we boost the trade xp for refining? boost the explore xp per rock? This might compensate for cherry picking and accomodate rl situations as well (being in middle of clear and you're needed for a rl emergency/situation that takes you away from game) Perhaps it will help people "share" more and take away the concern about "bonuses" or "this is my field don't mess up my bonus" or I cleared it and got no bonus, not knowing someone had to log out for rl situation halfway through the field; which means neither player gets the bonus and you guys start getting bugged about "ore fields are bugged/broken".My thoughts exactly. People would be more reluctant to share a field if they are all vying for the clear bonus.
-
I think a 2 to 2.5km warp minimum would be a good compromise. I too remember being able to warp from rock to rock even at the lower levels when your mining range wasn't that good. 5km just seems a bit extreme but I feel 1km would be too short.

Sweet! A miner's shopping list! I forgot which ones I had to keep.
