The US has one of the world’s largest supplies of natural gas, but the use is regulated to death by the government
Converting your vehicle to run on natural gas costs more than the vehicle (government regulations[/quote]

The first one is very true, and not only is the use regulated but everything surrounding it is regulated in such retarded ways you wouldn't even believe. (I blame the tree huggers)

The 2nd is only partially true. You can run a car on drip, just have to loosen the valves a hair. Never tried it on a new model car (all the sensors might cause it to throw engine codes), but an older car that has a carb will run it fine.
  2. Well after a lot of thinking I've came to the conclusion that its past time for me to leave this project.

I doubt many people will care in all honesty, I played my normal way which is not always popular.

I also was very open in posting about changes I thought were needed, and those that were not. My intentions

were to try and help improve the quality of the Emulator. To put it bluntly as I normally do, those posts

were simply wasted effort and that disappoints me.

Since I cannot write code I figured my logical posts was the best thing I could offer.

Now it seems if you cannot write code then you should just shut-up and praise those that can. I am no different

in a game than I am in real life, I will give praise when its warrented and criticism when it is. I played E&B

during LIVE like most of you. I would love to see the EMU go to the LIVE status then improve on that.

Sadly that doesn't seem to be the case. Sweeping changes are made, and a decent ammount of them are not needed.

I know my opinion isn't the only one, and I wouldn't put mine above anyone elses. But because I cannot write

code should not mean my opinion is worthless.

Too many times I have seen it said that "Its free!", "They do this on their own time!" and "Stop whining!".

I agree with all of that (though I feel I have never done the last until maybe this post). None of those things

give an excuse to act the way some people are, and make the decisions the way they are being made.

I have seen changes that make little to no sense from a gameplay point, or even for this point in the testing process.

I've seen A LOT of shady things, I didn't get proof of the first ones but eventually I started amassing Screenshots

and FRAPs videos of it. It only confirmed some things I always suspected. And after talking to some people I never had

before, it seems those suspections were not only from me.

I will leave it at this: You claim you investigate every DEV/GM/BETA to ensure

proper behavior is followed. Either no one is actually looking, or those that are have turned a blind eye in

order to help their friends. IT IS HAPPENING, reguardless if you want to admit it or not...there is always a loophole to get around something. And people will eventually find it.

So now you can find me in RIFT and eventually on SW:TOR. Always as Whitelighter/Darklighter. Later people

  3. I don't want you to get the wrong impression Ranko, I agree with the changes. Maybe not 100%, I may not agree with the timer chosen or something else, but the idea behind them I agree with. You're right in saying at this point in time raid quality loot has become the norm. I was one of the big campers on those bosses, I gave A LOT of that loot to friends which lead to the next part; When new characters hit CL50/OL150 they don't bother starting out with ZETs or Archos or Pit Sr, they instantly jump into bile weapons, Stings, Hellbores, GoBB loot. It shouldn't be that way. I welcome the changes (hell to me personally somethings are still too easy after the changes, but thats another post on another day).

EDIT: I had more, but while I typed it out some others had posted. After reading that I'm sorry to say I'm done with it. Not intended as a threat or anything. Just saying you wont have to worry about my criticism or feedback anymore. Good Luck to anyone that continues posting, you'll need it.

  4. I'm still, and always have been, in the corner that the really nice drops should be atleast semi-rare to keep them valuable. Most of the posters here agree, just how to do that is what is usually the debate.

Most people don't have an issue with the changes themselves, our concern is more or less this forum. Do you honestly want our input/feedback? If not then fine, most DEVs only take player feedback with a gain a salt so it wont be anything new. But if you say you want it, then listen when it is given. Yes there might only be 10% of the playerbase posting here, but you just gotta work with what you have. It reminds me of the old saying "You can't complain about the President if you didn't vote", if they dont post and get active in the community then they will just live with whatever decisions are made.

  5. To the contrary. If the community -very strongly- believes something and has very good reason to, change can be affected. But as it is those who disagree with what the Dev's think is the right thing to do have not presented strong enough evidence for their case. Though in the end I think this thread changed very little of what has been planned, it was very useful because it was there to gauge how people felt and what they thought. It was a survey, not a wishlist for Santa.

Even if you ignore this thread, look at the others in here. I agree some posts are whines and flames, but some are well thought out and make sense (both from a DEV viewpoint and a Player viewpoint). Where is the results from those threads? Once the thread went up you didn't really hear anything from anyone about the subject. Atleast a quick post from a DEV or Lann relaying information: "Well you guys made some good points but we're going to keep it our way", "Your ideas suck, stfu", something or anything would be nice.

I've said for a while, these threads/discussions are too late. The decision is made and more often than not the code work is on the DEV/PTR server as well. So even if a player sugguests something that is slightly better than the idea the DEV had, I figure they will think "Yeah thats a tiny bit better. But not enough for me to do the extra code work for. Just leave it the way it is". We need to have the discussions when the idea of a change is thought-up, NOT after its already coded.

My (very blunt) opinion on it? These threads are nothing more than to give players the perception that you have a say-so in the process. I would bet the DEV's PM boxes were filling up daily with these type things, so this is a way to filter the flow of information to them. As long as no-one looks too deep its a win-win situation that way.

I could go on, but I won't. Quite frankly anymore I don't see it doing any good. It would just make me aggrovated thinking about it, and piss off the fanbois.

  6. Might look into downloading EVGA Precision too. I believe it works for any Nvidia card and allows you to overclock its GPU and/or memory and even set a personal-constant fan setting (anything from 1% to 100% fan speed).

Another thing, it may not be a problem on your end. I get some funny stuff happening in the FB as well. No shutdowns but lag and graphic glitches. Just a thought to consider...

  7. Well, to everyone who is gonna read this, please be smart and just vote "days".

There will be still some encounters on a daily or hours timer. But having everything on a few hours timer is gonna hurt the mmo fun factor.

Do you really want to have everything just "common" within a very short amount of time, like just 1 or 2 weeks if you can just farm raids 10 times a day?

Just because that is YOUR opinion on it doesn't mean people have to agree with you.

  8. Seems like a lot of people are having problems with the new FB setup. Heres what you do:

Fly to the Old Boony Nav under the Tada-O gate in Cooper

Talk to him and select the 2 response option

Warp away, then back to Boony.

    Pay him 2.5mil

You'll get a device print, you WILL NOT get any items in your cargohold

The Device is lv7, you need lv7 build DEVICES to make it. Any other build skill WILL NOT WORK

Then you realize, even though credits are worthless atm, you paid 2.5mil for a recipe you cant even make. Guess only a few classes can do this.

Now my question for whoever set this up:

Does the gate into the Unknown Galaxy lock when a raid is in progress after these changes?

  9. It depends on a few factors to me:

The chance of loot dropping is directly tied into spawn timers. I dont really see the need in having timers that spawn 2-3 times a week. Atleast not on more than 1 or 2 mobs.

    thats just common sense.

GoBB (and later on) Vrix bosses should be really long timers. Once a day or every other day. Its the best loot in the game until NEW content is added. It shouldn't be very common. Should drop something, or maybe 2 items, every kill.

RD Base, Mordana should be long timers. 10hours or so with a 2 hour window each way. IE a 10hr respawn is really a 8 to 12 hour chance. Still gives atleast 2 spawns a day. Should drop 1 item almost every kill. Rare chance of getting nothing, or getting the 'junk items' no one really wants

Controller and Warder should be something like once or twice a day at most. Maybe a 50/50 shot at looting something nice here.

Fishbowl and Bogeril should be ACTIVATED raids. Something not easy to do, but it shouldn't take 2 weeks of playing 3-4 hours a day to get one ready to go either. Should be 100% chance to loot 1 nice item from each boss, with a slight chance of getting 2 items.

Voltoi, Cooper Fish bosses, Ardus bosses when they are added, should be every 2-3-4 hours or something. Its basically just "starter" items for end-game. Should get a nice item 1 out of every 4-5 kills.

The best loot should be rare, as should the mobs that drop it. And while I don't know about everyone else, I space and give stuff away because right now it doesn't matter. Gonna lose it all anyway so why keep it.

  10. We are not all that good at hunting. Just because one person can do something does not mean every last person can. My hands are bad, I envy those so skilled. I am not. Why make it impossible for all just to make it harder for the few?

It sucks your hands are bad. But if you can't do it now because of that (or some other reason), them making it harder won't really change anything for you. You cant do it now, You won't be able to do it then.

  11. This should be in the suggestions forums.

This is a request to DEVs, not to Lannister.

Most of the things you talked about are being addressed.

Please be patient. Things take time.

I thought that was the point of this forums? To voice opinions to Lann instead of burning up Tien and Kyp's PM box with every little idea. As for whats being addressed, we players have almost no clue what is currently being worked on. The issue of certain classes soloing almost every mob in the game has been a hot topic lately. If someone would step-up and say 'hey we see the problem, and right now its (being worked on HARD to fix it/not a concern for us)' we would know whether to continue beating the dead horse or not.

Kyp or Tien recently refered to the Jan Update that is coming, does anyone (non beta/gm/dev) have any idea what fixes are coming with it? I can't find any info on it. I know some things are going to be hopefully put in and not make it, don't want to get peoples hopes up and such. But giving us some rough idea wouldn't hurt anything.

  12. If you keep your levels somewhat balanced (15/13/18 or 30/35/27 and such) a PW can usually kill stuff 2-3 CLs above their own pretty easily. You can go higher, just depends on your levels and how good you are at playing.

As for missions, E&B isnt really a mission-for-XP kind of game. Its just about all grinding. Only difference is the grinding is somewhat enjoyable, unlike most grind based MMOs. You'll have missions for hull upgrades, and eventually storyline missions, and a few missions give nice items. Other than those you'll just grind mobs or jobs (repeatable missions).

  13. I have a game-cam set up in the woods on mom and dad's place. Use it during hunting season to see what all is around there. I leave it up year-round though, I pulled this picture off of it yesterday....

    wthisthis.jpg

Someone want to tell me wtf that is? Sure doesn't look like any animal I've ever seen lol.

  14. you'll want classes that work well together in combat. Since a JE is pretty much a given choice, you can go:

TE/TT - build everything, easy combat. Both being ML classes they work well together in combat

PW/PP - Not much this combo cant tank, both have real nice dps. Can build all your equip including reactors

JD/XX - JD has huge dmg, but doesnt work well since cloak will break formation and requires close range, once your JD cloaks another char will be tanking.

If you want the best all around combo, and easy to play: go terran.

  15. I agree every class is gonna get a nerf and a buff here and there. Just part of playing an MMO. What I'm getting at is right now, PW is being looked at. Ok fine, sap was a little overpowered I've agreed with that all along. But to put it bluntly, the track record leads players to believe that if the PW is balanced this month it will be 2-3 months before the next class is even considered for balancing. During that time the other 2 overpowered classes will be able to run wild. I know the standerd arguement is its free, no one gets paid and all that. But you cant just disregard standard MMO processes because of that.

If 2 or 3 classes are dominating the game all of those need adjustments made. If you leave one as-is it will be able to do anything it wants. People, and these are people that have played a PW for a long time, are starting to give up and get tired of being slaughtered by TEs and JDs on stuff they shouldn't be (not going to drive into the whole issue). Now they are rerolling to TEs and JDs. I probably sounds all doom and gloom, but the basic facts of an MMO has always been if a class is left overpowered long enough, you'll have nothing but that class being played.

If all else fails and you don't want go this route, atleast fix group kill credit so these single classes cant use their advantage to take boss kills from groups. Atleast that would be a temporary fix to part of the issue.

Btw hack is not useless, it doesn't land everytime because if it did that from 8k away it would be REALLY overpowered. If it lands on the right system (system hack or multihack) then its crippling to the mob. Hack should have its drawbacks to use. It shouldn't be a spam from 8k away until it lands move. 2k or 3k was great, TE had to give up his kiting to use it, trading one thing for another. If its ok for the TE, why can't my nerfed Shield Sap have a 6k or 7k range?

  16. Last few days I've seen this conversation come up a lot in-game. Thought we could get a discussion going here instead and see what becomes of it.

*I noticed part of this post comes across as a calling-out the DEVs post, I'm not sure why but I wasn't aiming for that lol*

Currently there is a massive unbalance between the PW, JD and TE. The former is on the chopping block to get a nerf in the name of balance, while the latter two are receiveing buffs and will continue to do so when everything is said and done. Simply put anything a PW can do solo, a JD and TE can do as well and then go do things a PW cannot.

I will say part of the problem is some changes in the EMU that weren't there in LIVE. Namely the higher Quality on drops and drops being more common than in LIVE. The other issue causing it is changes made to make the game "better".

Combat Cloak was broken so it was 'fixed'; but now you either take zero damage if cloak beats the mob firing on you, or you only take 50% damage if the mob fires but you cloak before the damage lands. This has lead to Jenquai (JD in paticular) to abuse the system to solo things they shouldn't be able too. And they will only get stronger as more of their items start working. Picture the current JD with a coma device that works, and some other situational debuffs working too. Nothing will stop a JD then. Blind the friends, and burn down one mob while active cloaking. It is a pretty scary thought honestly.

TEs are also above a PW in solo play. Some of this is attributed to their class design of long range, and they simply out-range mobs. The rest of it is do to Hellbores, Castors, Smiters and Stings being more common now than they were in live. Plus the buffing of Hack to long range is a factor in this. I personally don't play a TE, hopefully someone that does, or has a TE alt, can give an honest opinion on them.

That leaves a PW. To me the PW is the class in MMOs that starts out really strong, but once every gears up that gap closes, then they are no longer the strongest class. That is ok to me, have seen it in many MMOs. The problem is the PW is slated to receive some slight nerfs (or major ones depending on what path is chosen) in the name of "game balance".

I'm sorry that is a cop-out. If game balance was/is truely the focus why not wait and balance everyone together? Why continue to give buffs to TE/JD when they are already more powerful than a PW, at the things that are the reason for PWs nerfing? Just doesn't make sense to me.

I'm fine with the PW being the designated tank and not doing the most DPS, it shouldn't have the best of both. I'm fine with the JD being the glass-cannon, and the TE being the kiter. I'm not fine with one class being singled out for doing things while others do that and more while still getting stronger. I firmly believe no class should be able to solo end-game content. And if thats the view of the DEVs then I agree, as will most players. But I think you should stick to it and hold ALL classes to that view. Not just one or two...

  17. I like the basics people have sugguested. My thought on it would be define roles for each healer. Being a healer doesn't mean you just cast big heals, damage migitation and such are very nice when properly implemented. Maybe something like this:

TT- Keeps its current form, the common MMO healer. Handles the big bulky damage healing role

JS- The damage reduction class. Loses the shield recharge ability but gains something akin to PSI shield/Shield-Charge that reduces damage. Seems to fit into the role of Jenquai being more about protecting than doing straight combat. Could even throw a SMALL combat buff on this ability, if it is usable on yourself it could help JS in solo combat while leveling.

PP- The PP would lose Shield Recharge (or cap it at lv5 like some skills are, Combat Shield Recharge or whatever it is) and gain a new class skill that is more of a combat-based ability. I can't come up with anything on what the skill should be though. Both the TS and JT have class only skills, as does most classes, the PP could really use one to set it apart. Plus if the PP loses Shield Recharge, or it is capped at lv5, it would provide the slight nerf needed for the class. Everyone can agree the class is a little too good right now. I mean Crit Target, Menance, Shield Recharge, Lv9 Reactor/Shield, only thing its missing is Grav Link and it would be the Ultimate Progen.

  18. I'd like to see more decisions players have to make. It shouldn't be as simple to gain/lose faction on a whim. Make players choose what path they want to walk. Siding with the RD would mean something as you would lose something in another area of the game, not going RD takes some things away (Controller, GoBB, Easy Travel). I prefer a game where decisions you make have atleast a small impact on the game. Currently choosing to go RD just means you lose a few hours of gametime working on factions, after that you have the best of both worlds.

Shouldn't be that way, atleast not in my opinion.
