  1. same problem...

    did some testing:

    1. debug launch

    2. after a long time cmd line says "intermediate login check failed, re-issue secotr login"

    3. can login but cannot join the game B)

major lag (up to 10 seconds)

did work yesterday before server restart...

    solutions anyone?

  2. I got in by checking local certs. It takes a looooonnnng time and it won't accept your password many, many times. Eventually it will let you in. It took me 10 minutes and my fiance 20 minutes. Good luck all.

no luck here, everytime the dreaded INV-300 error.

    thanks

    i vote for server reboot

  3. Can't get through myself.

    Someone help?

    need help too ;-D

wanted to play after 2 week absence...

INV-300 errors here, connecting to server takes too long, SSL_connect fails. Local cert doesnt work.

    net7 shows 149, now 152 ppl online.

maybe a server restart is required?

  4. Just did it 5 minutes ago, finally got Shield Recharge. Also, Kenu said tonight that the next patch should fix the mission, so if you don't feel like messing with the workaround just wait a few days. Hopefully. Anyway, here's the steps I took...

    1. Get the drone and Insig/Canister missions from Louden.

    2. Run to earth and grab the O2 Canisters

    3. Talk to Louden again, select the 2nd dialog option ("What's there to do around here?" or something like that) and he'll warn you about Holly.

    4. Talk to Holly but don't select any dialog options, just X out of her convo.

    5. Talk to Louden again, he should give you the 1st step of the Shield Charging mission now.

    6. Go back to Earth, get the insignias and the Orb Weaver ML

    7. Back to Louden, this time he'll take the 20k creds.

    8. Talk to him one more time, and he'll take the ML and give you the skill.

The important part no one was mentioning here was the part about Xing out of Holly's convo, which is what worked for me.

    thanks, it worked. w00t!

  5. Player and Account wipe is due on Sunday january 24th, they move to a new server. I know it is sad to loose chars you built up during the last months. There is no xp boost in ST4. Things will be progressing slower than you are used to.

The Archangels starting over too: We need at least 5 Guild leaders, people who play regularly here. Please bear in mind, that besides playing you will be responsible to help your fellow guildsmen and -women out of trouble, promote them and get new members. Any member who played live or has experience and leadership skills can apply. Please PM me.

See you after the wipe, which is planned at Sunday, January 24, 2010 at 11:59 PM EST

  6. Here's a few things I've noticed since coming back. YMMV, but I think these will be some decent improvements if they can be implemented.

    1. Make "Approach" work for everything. When prospecting, looting or even fighting, it'd be a real help to be able to target it and then click Approach to line up and move towards it. (This is actually how Eve Online does it, and it works well for its purpose). Having it work at long ranges would be excellent too, as you could use it to line you up for a freewarp for when you don't want to use the navs for whatever reason.

Good idea! Select target then hit space for autoapproach. There should be a installable device making this possible.

    e.g. Autoapproach Device lvl3-9 ;-D

    2. Add some speed to warping by nav points. An extra 30% across the board would be excellent.

Then getting better reactors, engines, skills and devices would be pointless.

    3. Vault filter - change from "hide" to "show only". Currently you can only hide a certain type of thing. Maybe I'm missing something, but why would you not want to just show what you're looking for, instead of hiding 1 out of however many things you're not looking for?

3a. Add more categories to the vault filter. The biggest use of the vault is for ore, refinables and components, so I'd like to see those as independent options.

    4. Vault sort. MUST DIE arrggghh. Or at least, add "sort by type" and "sort by level" - preferably both at once, as that would pretty much work for everything. Example- you've got equipment, components, ores and refinables in your vault. Selecting "Sort by type/level" would instantly group everything of the same type together and line it up by level. How cool would that be?

No. Leave it as it is. Vault management is different for everyone, intelligent vault order is up to the player. Not essential to gameplay.

    5. Allow dead ships like 10% speed or something, so they can creep away from whatever killed them to get a jumpstart. We don't really have enough players in game to be asking for a group to kill something so you can get a JS.

That is some form of cheating! To die is a result of overconfidence and carelessnes. Instead of blowing up and have to restart all over again, you get xp debt or can get help with JS skill. Leave it as it is! Really!

    6. Less NPCs, tougher fights. I personally hate "the grind". I'd rather have a few scary hard, but really rewarding fights, than a bazillion pwns. Also, this encourages grouping which will help spread out the xps. Combine this with the next item for real authenticity.

No, definetly NO!! The "fishbowl" and other high lvl mob areas are the means for you. Many underlings and some bosses and big bosses are more realistic. And i wanna see how you take a "Zerg Rush" :D

    7. Change the lootz to make sense. It makes no sense whatsoever for an organic to drop a complete, usable engine or weapon lol. They should instead drop refines. Mechanicals should drop a lot of components and items, maybe with some damaged so you have to repair them?

    I agree...

    8. Lastly, rebalance weapon damage and deflects, and make it by the type of enemy (mechanical vs organic). Example, Plasma damage just rocks out, so there's really no point in using any other kind at low-mid levels. I suggest lowering Plasma damage and bumping the other kinds across the board (and I have a TE so this is a nerf to me, but it's for the best). Also, making Plasma damage do much less against a mechanical (metallic hulls resist burning pretty well) and explosive/impact do less against organics would be pretty authentic as well. With this change, you'd need to be prepared for the type of enemy you'd be fighting, instead of just going with Plasma 'cause it pwns all. We'd also see a lot more diverse crafting going on.

8a. Side note, why are Organics all shields? You'd think they'd be all hull (body) instead, with a lotta HPs. That'd make more sense, at least to me :P

Again i agree, as long as game balance remains intact and is fun to play! This is EnB Emulator, not Simulator

Thank you for your post, was really interesting :)

  8. After my reaction to being Guilded, I was thinking... And then I read your comment above. Not that it was inappropriate in any way, but that it is an illusion. I don't care if anyone tries to take advantage of me in this game. It happens once, I learn about them and I don’t do it again.

But RL working on a higher social order is a façade. I am sensitive to text-behavior because I write. Words are my life. And I schooled in how to write because of a decade in which I worked diligently to bring knowledge to some professional communities (and a legal community) in order to right multiple wrongs involving our most delicate of treasures.

Then – after I uncovered hundreds and hundreds of pages of documents, and news articles, and medical records and on and on… I found out they always knew. They had always known about some of the things that had happened. They had hidden and sheltered the actions to keep things “quiet.” I had thought the reason they didn’t care was because they didn’t know. But not only did they know, they condoned the actions with their verbal silence and their eventual written silence. Then a nationwide fiasco emerged about another community and I learned even more.

The biggest purveyor of secrecy was this community’s DA and his minions.

The damage was immeasurable. Many lives were destroyed and further destroyed because they found out that not only did not they matter then, they never mattered at all.

So I have learned – the hard way – that people are never to be trusted until it can be proven otherwise. And if it seems a bit paranoid to respond this way, well – you haven’t seen what I’ve seen.

And I did start out in a Guild with a blanket trust. It was only when the written word clued me in to nuances that I became a bit confused. Then I remembered how it is in RL and had forgotten how people can be.

Now – this other type of thing can’t happen in here with our moderators. Online can be far safer than real life, sad to say….

But the callousness and deviousness I ran up against in real life certainly exists here. I think Guilds inadvertently create a way to bring it out. They create little corners in which people gather.

All in all – this was a valuable and fascinating experience on its own. Can this destroy my life? No… phhhffft. It was just a shock to the system to be reminded we are not space cadets, we are real people living in a real world bringing all our baggage into a virtual reality – including me.

And I am not sitting here tearful any more, I am sitting here with a huge smile on my face. Fascinating circumstances… I know that may seem odd, but not if you write it doesn’t. You know exactly what I mean.

    *big hug from Garfield*

I know exactly what you mean. But we people learn from our mistakes. Thats why were here after so many wars, epidemics and tragedy. We learn as we live.

I agree that some players are rude or downright hostile. But EnB Emu is not a free-to-abuse zone. There are rules, everyone of us must accept before connecting to the server and playing. If abuse occurs, document it with pressing the roll key (take a screen picture). Then contact a GM.

    You are not defenseless!

Here is the EnB code of conduct:

    https://enb-emulator.com/index.php?/forum-5/announcement-5-net-7-entertainment-earth-beyond-emulator-code-of-conduct/

  9. The game imitates life and in-life experience influences gameplay too. The range can go from the all-giving-no-taking type over the lone-wolf type up to people who swindle out everything.

I never played LIVE EnB and i never played a MMO until now, so i did some experiments on my own. I even created a guild to help others but only if they need help. You see, EnB has many goals... how you reach them and how you play is up to you.

As you play, you meet people you really like, and people you never will get along with.

So basically you learn and adapt and form a "friends" group from the EnB community, with them you play and build trust. Trust is never given but earned. If you ALWAYS help for "free" or force your help on someone, thats not good or fair. Always say what you want... and try not to expect too much.

Enjoy EnB Emu and have some fun...

  10. Now it is loading the Net7Proxy, in the command window it gets to "Launch E&B Successful", a window pops up and asks for rules of conduct agreement, I select Agree, the window goes away and nothing further comes up.

after a few minutes the net7proxy window closes as well...

    anyone experience this?

I did... after some trial and error i found out that uninstalling the framework from M$, dotnetfx, and reinstalling the dotnetfx 3.5 worked on all my xp machines.

    hope that helps
