That could be the login servers are having issues then.. just coincidence that I was fighting with it at the time... I will wait a bit and see if they start responding..
I thought the same thing but it is almost 2 hours later and it still is happening.

I am getting this same error "Server failed to respond to sector login". I was playing just fine clicked to gate off the Dahin planet into Dahin sector and was dropped out of the game to login screen. Logged back in all I get is the load screen and then dropped to desktop with the error.
