The game crashes as soon as I try to log in to my account or character.
Try both of the following:
Compatibility Mode

Go to your Earth & Beyond folder. (Default: C:\Program Files (x86)\EA Games\Earth & Beyond)
Open the "release" folder.
Right-click on "client.exe" and open its Properties.
Under the "Compatibility" tab, set the Compatibility Mode to "Windows XP (SP2)".
Click "Apply" and "OK".
E&BConfig

Go back to your Earth & Beyond folder.
Open the "EBCONFIG" folder.
Run E&BConfig.exe (If you are running Windows Vista or Windows 7: Right-Click > Run As Administrator).
Change the resolution setting to anything larger than 800x600.
Run the Performance Test (by clicking "Performance Test"), then click "OK".
Preference Files

Try removing preference files. This often fixes new login crash issues. Open the 'Data' directory in the Earth & Beyond folder, now open the 'output' folder. Sort by 'date modified' and delete the newest .ini files. Go crazy, you can't break anything by deleting anything in this folder.
I did a registry cleaner, and a new install of Net7. The launcher was normal before the first update completed. After the 1rst update and on a restart of the launcher the play button was again gone.
You might wanna reread the post start to finish.
As for what ive read E&B does not like lower resolutions, SO .....
Lower?? why lower? on mine it prefers the higher resolutions... Fyi .. i did have to try each one till i saw the button... and as for the >NET framework .. according to the advice from a DEV in my post's that i recieved, it needs to be up 2 date.....
You should list what setup you have, go step by step on what is ALL implimented on the current install, have screen shots, and possibly add the info like i did.
Might even mention a promise of Cake or a thankyou and end... I noticed peeps usualy get helped, then ... well ... nothing.. they never get back on or help others...
* Steps off soapBox, bows and wishes you luck in your endevor. -

Might want to scan this, to see if this could help.
Its just a few post's down from yours and says Issue solved ..... play button missing.......
1280 x 960 is my current resolution which had fixed the problem, anything lower than that and no play button.
Not that I know this will fix your problem, but rather all the advice i had recieved and fixes i did to get to that point could help you. -
Well that TEST was passed !
Thank You KYP and everyone that took the time out to read my post! Fly by and say happybirthday tommorrow ill be around SOL !

This is what the launcher looks like to me:

This kind of suggests a resolution issue to me. I notice there's not enough space between the bottom of your web window and the top of the version display for it to show the button.
so what do i do? -
Server irc.freenode.net :6667 channel #wtc
Vista always has strange issues, are you right clicking the launcher and choosing "Run As Administrator"?
Also, have you tried taking the launcher screen out of maximized mode?
I have it checked as ADMIN , AND choose "Run As Administrator". And as for taking it out of maximized, just like the previous posts ill go back and forth to try and shake it loose
All reccomendations from previously posted replies have been done to this reinstall. I wont make a change unless you say so. -
Give me a current screenshot of what your launcher looks like sans its play button, I might be able to help from there. If it's still targeting the url, you can't play a url
OK, i sent you one with EAEZ opened during launch... as well as the EZ saved notes during that launch... i sent it as quotes ... and as a file. whatever you need just ask.

Ahhhh no.....
That screenshot was from the first time. ive reinstalled twice since then... just incase, i reinstalled , made sure everything has been done , made a check list on what has been posted... including cleaning temp files and defrag ram prior to install .... the target path is the one as you had stated... and i had used that Net7 configuration tool...
SO we are still back where i began ...... no play button.
Fyi i snuck a install on a lap top just to prove to myself i wasnt being duped... worked liked a charm... even played for 30 min so im atleast capable of doing a good install ... but it was just a one time deal. i'm stuck using fixing this.
So peeps???? whats next?
I cant believe I did not see it before....
I looked at your net7 picture closely and noticed you have it targeting a URL.
Look closely on the top right and click browse then target this path:
C:\Program Files\EA GAMES\Earth & Beyond\release\client.exe
This is exactly your problem all along.

Hello, .NET Framework 4 was installed properly. I went through every application file to ensure admin perrmission. i resetted updates , then reinstalled them.
Still no joy PLAY button that is.... what next ? shall i reinstall it again. -
Ok i just did a COMPLETE reinstall , the same issue has occured. No Play Button.
i'm not sure what you mean by frame .Network , ..... however since i just did a complete reinstall ... would it not , just have just been replaced? And the issue of bad files loaded the first time no longer applies?? -
I had hoped some1 would be helpful by now. guess ill reload it again.

HELP !!! -
Ok one mroe shot, you should be able to force the launcher to update itself again. This is done under the Launcher menu in your top left corner. You should have an option to reset your updates or similar. Try to see if that helps.
Actualy i had already done this procedure however just did it again, and also minmize and enlarge again to see if i could shake something loose lololololol ..
im getting no errors at all ... and when i put cursor where button should be it flickers ever so often a lil stating to pick a server and click play.
maybe you see someone that knows the program and direct em to me... thank you for trying ramses... ill keep at it... i want to mine !!! and explore !!! -
heh the play button should be above the current version but you have nothing there.
I am sorry but I have no idea how to help you This is way over my head
PS. this is a long shot, but have you tried resizing the window to see if the buttons would show up then?
nope... nothing there ... hopefully some1 that know program will see this post ... maybe it something wrong with the mirror they have. -

ok there is the screen of the NET7 showing the server onlines with peeps in it ... i see no game or play button. as for my characters .. i have 3 options... quit,delete,edit... thats it -
That sounds strange. To take a picture:
1. Press PrtScn button on your keyboard
2. Open the program Paint that should be under Accessories
3. Paste (Ctril+V)
4. save and post.
Ok... ah this damn thing dosnt have paint ? nope... its not there. the screen does sputter a sec if i press printscreen so the file goin somewhere.
