Maybe all we need is a roid lock timeout of a couple of minutes, after which the server automatically deselects the roid for you. Would that be a better solution? It'd be easy to implement.
Until now I didn't know this was a problem. We certainly don't want to spoil the asteroid clearance bonus just because of a couple of people leaving roids open for whatever reason.
I like this solution Tienbau, it seems like it would solve the problem eloquently, without having to do much work :-P
