Possible port/firewall issues

Recommended Posts

New player here. I downloaded and installed the game a couple days ago while on vacation; ran just fine. When I came home, however, my launcher (as seen in the attachment below) couldn't connect to the server. I'm thinking it's an issue with my router, but I honestly don't know where to start as far as what ports to forward, etc, or if that's even the issue. I decided to try forwarding 443 (which probably wasn't the best idea), and this seemed to let the launcher connect, but I couldn't stay logged in through the game. I would appreciate any help I can get on this.

Edit: To clarify the question, what ports do I need to forward for the Net-7 launcher to see that the server is online, and for the game to function properly? I have put all my settings back to the way they were before I started trying things, and upon looking at the technical support FAQ here, made sure that my LAN settings have the "Automatically Detect Configuration" option checked.

Open a command prompt and perform a tracert to sunrise.net-7.org and post the result.

Start > Run..

type 'cmd'

in the black window

tracert sunrise.net-7.org > %UserProfile%\Desktop\tracert.txt

this will produce a text file on your desktop, paste those in here.

I've resolved the issue to the point of being able to log in an play the game, but with major latency. It was my router's firewall. I opened port 443 in TCP there (although I'm not entirely sure that was the issue, because looking at it now, that setting already existed), as well as 3805-3807 TCP and UDP. When I disable the firewall entirely, though, my latency was about 50 ms, while my current settings have me at ~200. Traceroute is attached.

Hrm. looks like the majority of your lag is actually coming from something in 1and1's network. You've covered the only non-standard ports I believe that we use above. Hopefully the new communication method in design will make your life easier. It's being worked on now.

I'm having similar issue when i try to connect, i get "server failed to respond to login attempt" with net7proxy. This problem was present an hour before the server was restarted but still remains. How do i tell if my router is blocking the connection, i know for a fact that my internet is being blocked(no p2p websites).
