Spitting Cobra Mk. VIII Level 8 Chmical Beam Weapon Manufacturable Tradeable All Classes and races can use. Spitting Cobra Mk. IX Level 9 Chemical Beam Weapon Manufacturable Tradeable All Classes and races can use. Suggestion#2: Added to the loot table in the appropriate area :) (Perhaps a mission to turn the slime cannon and Ichor cannon into Beams?) Slime Beam Level 7 Chemical Beam Weapon 6 second reload Lvl 7 Non-Manufacturable Tradeable All Classes and races can use. Deflect Chemical +30 Ichor Beam Level 8 Chemical Beam Weapon 6 second reload Lvl 8 Non-Manufacturable Tradeable All Classes and races can use. I'd like to start with extending 2 of the existing plasma lines beyond L7, namely the Mastiff & Lion lines. Their buffs, fire rate, DPS, etc. would simply be adjusted for the higher levels. At L8 their DPS/EPS should be comparable to the Pitbull Jr. and at L9 comparable to the Pitbull Sr. Manufacturable, common parts, though some ABC parts involved. Useful, but not as powerful as the beams that are intended to be either rare or awesome. <insert name here> L9 Plasma Beam Jenquai Only Structure: 100% Quality: 100% (200%) Range: 1800 Reload: 6 seconds DPS (200%): 65 (100) Damage (200%): 390 (600) Energy: 129 EPS: 21.5 Buffs: Improved Cloak Improved Scan Recharge Reactor Based on roughly the Pitbull Sr.'s damage and the Ghost's edge's buffs. Parts would be fairly common for this beam as it's intended to be fairly easy to obtain. Meant as an alternative to the Pitbull Sr. for those Jenquai who cannot afford the really great beams. Giving each race a L9 low to moderate DPS weapon, of it's racial type, with the buff to Psionic resistance would be nice. The Gaze of Amah, in EnB Origins, is the idea behind how this weapon is obtained. The Scout & Sentinel would get equivalent racial weapons, and the ammo for them would drop in game. Since this beam isn't as powerful as the Gaze of Amah the pass (or equivalent) requirement would be a little lower (say 1-3 passes or equivalent), but the other requirements would remain in place. Gaze of Amah requirements in EnB Origins were: 15 passes for the recipe Maxed build skill to be able to make the beam (build weapons waived since explorers normally cannot build weapons) Vendor part only found in BBW 1 pass for one of the parts Vendor part sold in Earth Station, Arx Magister, and Jove's Fury. (one part, 3 places you could buy it from) No Trade (each JE had to earn his own) This weapon would have similar requirements (including the PE/Scout versions). I can't quite remember the ore requirements for one pass, but they were fairly steep. I think 2 stacks of alloys were required per pass. Tantalum Alloy was one of the acceptable alloys, I can't remember the other 2 for sure but they were probably the Oxium & Platinum Alloy in the database. For example: Sniper Set: (Bonus to speed, and fold space) Long range, low damage weapons. (Used in tandem with folding the enemy away) Weapons - Bonus to range & critical Engines - bonus to speed Shields - bonus to shield regen Reactor - Bonus to fold space Assassin Set: (Bonus to beam dmg, critical) Very short range, high damage, long recharge (Used primary with combat cloak for massive 1 shot bonus) Weapons - Bonus to beam & critical Engines - Bonus to speed Shields - Bonus to cloak Reactor - Bonus to reactor regen Martial Set: (Bonus to shield, armor, & psionic resist) Med Range, low dmg, low recharge (Gatling gun type) (Used in tandem with pulling enemy) Weapons - Bonus to critical Engines - Bonus to hull resist Shields - Bonus to shield resists Reactor - Bonus to psionic / hacking resist I think it would be a bit more fun if people had more play styles to choose from. 1 Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

The main thrust that I think of when we talk about when it comes to weapons higher than L7, is more variety, though mostly of average to good weapons. Said weapons wouldn't be awesome in most cases, though I could see a few introduced over time as well. I don't mind the tradeoff of having to get 2 loadouts, to cover both energy & plasma, and the damage reduction over 50% range, given that they have infinite shots, and we have the good reactors to power them. JEs who aren't rich or well connected mostly using 2 L9 Pitbull Sr. & a L8 Ruby Disruptor, shouldn't be the norm, for just reaching CL50 IMO. There should be viable alternatives, even if they cost a little more to get. With such things, the beams that are intended to be rare, can remain that way, while players have other things to add to their recipe lists, or use on their ships.
