Lots Of Bsod's With Enb

Recommended Posts

Hi guys,

I am getting a lot of BSOD's (blue screen of death)
I use Win7 64bits, an SSD drive for boot and 1 TB sata (where ENB is installed.) and a AMD tripple core CPU
Video card is a Geforrce GTS 450
I did memory checks, scanned files in windows for integrity etc, latest drivers, bios.
I run ENB in admin mode and with XP sp2 compatilbilty mode.
I have no clue where these BSOD come from and it only seems to happen with ENB and with more windows open.
Does anyone experienced this also and has a hint for a possible sollution?

Thanks in advance.
Mike

Thanks for responding.
Temp is good, I monitor most components.
I have a feeling its about the audio/video drivers but they are the latest available.
Stop code is not easy to tell, got ntfs.sys, flatmgr and some with no code at all.
Your computer has been shutdown to prevent damage.. etc
Log files say, there was a power interruption wich is not the case.
Its a weird thing..

Cheers,

I think its a 450w, maybe 500w Antec PSU.
Its a decent brand and good quality PSU.
I remember looking for a good one at the time.

when did you get the power supply...i've had them go out in as little as 2yrs.....you can get a cheap power supply tester from china on ebay for around 8 bucks last i looked....they usually have plugs for the old version power supplies and newer ones

just a thought....

Does that Antec PSU have enough amps on the +12v rail for the GTS 450? If it is an Antec 450 the current supply on either of the +12v rails may be less than what the GTS 450 may be drawing looking at a quick google search. May be worth checking into.

Thanks for your research.
I did some checking to. Its a cooler master 450 true power.
I think I had an Antec before, did not remember..lol
Videocard is supplied with power, I dont know if the card is drawing more. Have to look into that.
But this PSU had a lot more load before with 3 sata disks, raid etc..
With the SSD and 1 sata the load is less then it ever was.

What I did now is at the cmd prompt verifier /standard /all
After a reboot I got an instant BSOD with HIDClass.sys which is related to USB controller.
Dont know the relation with ENB in this..
I had an extra pci USB card which I toke out to see if that helps.
Will report back if I BSOD again.

Did not find a CM True Power but may be Real Power is the same PSU? Google came up with 16A peak output 60s on the +12V2 rail. The GTS 450 needs 22A? HDDs do not really use much power compared with a GPU card like the GTS 450. May be your PSU has been at the limit and is now breaking down if you have temporary access to a larger PSU you could test that see if that makes a difference before making any decisions.

Accoording to NVIDIA this card uses 106 wats peak, this would be 106w/12v = 9A
PSU is real power, your right. (it also says true power though..)
Specs on that psu say that the 12v1 can handle peak 18A and 12v2 can handle 16A (dont know which V is for which)
Continuous power is 12v1 12A / 12v2 10A
So its should be allright?
I dont have a bigger PSU at hand, have to buy one..
Maybe I have to consider a PSU that has a bit more power to spare?

Well cant believe everything you read in random search results on the internet. Dunno what that 22A was all about!

Your research looks good. The PSU you've got should be able to handle your GPU card even perhaps allowing for Nvidia being optimistic about the power usage and may be it goes higher under load than 106W say 120-130W your PSU has margin enough. It explains why its worked until now but doesnt explain your recent problems. May be the PSU power output has fallen down for some reason and its safety features are kicking in?

May be you could look at the PSU internally see if there any signs of damage but ofc be careful they are dangerous.

At the end of the day only way to confirm if the PSU is a problem or not is to switch it with another.

Thanks for your reply.
At the moment I am running speedfan to see if there are drops in the voltages.
Maybe that will give me some hints to these weird but anoying problem.
I also checked dumpfiles and found a file that related to a logitech quickcam, LVUSB64.sys, seems there are a lot of problems with this file.
So I also unplugged my webcam.
Running 3 windowed sessions of ENB to see how it goes.
Thanks for your help so far Lot!

Just a little update.
I have been in analyzing mode to try to fix this.
It seems the culprit is a file from logitech called LVUSBS64.sys. (from quickcam)
For some reason it put it self in between the audio configuration of windows.
Renaming this file caused my whole system to lose my audio.
Had to adjust a registry entry to make it come back.
Since y'day I dont have any BSOD's yet.
Fingers crossed.

  • 1 month later...

After this I still had a lot of problems coming back. Drove me insane.

But i found it!

memtest did not find any problems with my RAM but I still replaced it, cause the errors just pointed that way.

Went from 2x2 gig to 2x4 gig been playing for more then a week now without incident. :)
