BuzzStPoint
Update!! So I was putting in the cert in the wrong area. I used this command to get the current cert: openssl s_client -showcerts -connect sunrise.net-7.org:443 Copied from --Begin...-- to --End ...-- Then imported the cert into the "trusted root" area. Now I don't' get the INV-300 (Yay!! Hampster Dance!!) Megan Accepts my user and pass. I see my characters . but.. Crashes at the loading map.. Just hangs.... karu [WDL]
Crashes at the loading map.. Just hangs.... is there a possible udp packet drop in your network? have you tried running net7proxy without /POPT and/or /EXEREORDER ? /POPT will use larger (up to 1400 byte) UDP packets to transfer data on login/sector change and there is lot of data to be sent
BuzzStPoint
I'll look at my router and see if there is anything of. I don't think so.. Same settings I have been running for years. I've messed with the different switches and same thing. Enter user/pass, select char and you'll see the map loading screen. This is where it will stall out. I'm starting to think its' the video card in my laptop. No additional drivers available. And from my poking around the "Intel Haswell - ULT" is not the greatest card out there. But should at least be able to play EnB. No problems connecting or playability in Windows. But that's not the goal here.
FalconDestroyer18
So I followed Nimsy's directions, and everything went smoothly (adding the certificate, all the installs, net7patcher.exe, etc.) up until I tried to play. I launched the game using this: WINEPREFIX=/home/falcon/.wine-enb wine start "C:\EnB\Net-7\bin\net7proxy.exe" /LADDRESS:0 /ADDRESS:74.208.192.215 /CLIENT:"C:\EnB\release\client.exe" /POPT /EXREORDER /DML as per Nimsy's post (I also tried the second option there, had the same issue). I was able to login perfectly, and view my characters. However when I selected one of my characters (a TT, not a Character and Starship Creator character) and clicked "enter" to start actually playing, net7proxy.exe crashed. The game itself stayed running but returned to the login screen. This is the crash dump: [spoiler] Unhandled exception: page fault on read access to 0x000072e8 in 32-bit code (0x00404f0d). FalconDestroyer18
do you have all files updated? I believe so, I ran the Net7Patcher.exe with: falcon@TheFalcon:~/Desktop$ WINEPREFIX=/home/falcon/.wine-enb wine start Net7Patcher.exe --stdout --net7 "C:\EnB\Net-7" --client "C:\EnB\release" (Does it matter where Net7Patcher.exe is located? As long as the net7 and client parameters are correct and the console is navigated to the directory where Net7Patcher.exe is stored (obviously)?) and it updated a lot of stuff, I ran it again just now and it checked everything but didn't download any updates (probably because everything is current - Cpt. Obvious) Also, the cdata.dat file is present in the Net-7/bin folder so I believe it put everything in the correct place, I'll check around a little more though. karu [WDL]
Does it matter where Net7Patcher.exe is located? No it does not. Crash is probably related to 'clone' is crash dump.Maybe linux syslog has something permission related or such? apparmor/selinux, etcMy wine version is wine-1.7.44 that works
FalconDestroyer18
Maybe linux syslog has something permission related or such? apparmor/selinux, etc Ran the game again (up to the crash) and looked in the syslog file in /var/log/ and there wasn't anything related to EnB or any sort of error, the last timestamp had been about 10 minutes earlier.. I checked a few other files in that directory, but I didn't find anything. Am I looking in the wrong place? My wine version is wine-1.7.44 that works Hmm I have the same version.. what about wine-gecko and wine-mono versions? How do I find those out? Aptitude installed them automatically.. I was also thinking, I know Ubuntu won't let programs create server sockets on ports under 1024 unless they are run as root, is it possible that the Net7Proxy.exe is trying to create a socket on one of those ports as part of the proxy for the game? How do I find those out? Aptitude installed them automatically.. dpkg -l \*wine-\*I only have "wine, wine1.7, wine1.7-amd64, wine1.7-i386" packages. I believe that only thing I did was install certificate for new wine prefix (used 'cancel' when wine wanted to install gecko/mono). I use mono on linux for net7patcher.exe (package libmono-corlib2.0-cil should install everything you need)
FalconDestroyer18
Ok so I purged (sudo apt-get purge) everything related to wine that I could think of/find (and deleted the wine prefix I had enb installed on), restarted my computer just to be safe, and reinstalled wine. Added the certificate, canceled the dialog that asked me to install mono, installed the client and net-7. The net-7 installer wanted to install .NET 2.0, I told the Net-7 installer yes, but when the installer for .NET came up I canceled, so it didn't install .NET but the net-7 installer continued. I did the same with the Visual C++ 2008 thing. (Does the command-line use of net7proxy.exe needs any of these? Before I had always installed the Visual C++ stuff like net-7 wanted, and with mono it didn't ask for .NET, I also tried one time without mono and I did install .NET and it had the same error I have been having while hitting play on a character) Ran Net7Patcher.exe with mono instead of wine (after installing libmono-corlib2.0-cil), ran fine, patched everything, no problems (though I did forget to change the file paths to linux ones instead of windows ones at first, but that was just a brain fart lol). Was starting to get hopeful (big mistake), launched the net7proxy.exe, game came up fine, logged in, selected a character, hit play, same error... I've gotta be screwing something up.. I haven't been installing the Character and Starship Creator since I already have a bunch of characters made (from previous windows installs), theoretically that shouldn't affect it, but I don't know anymore lol P.S. Sorry for making all of my posts 9 miles long...
karu [WDL]
Added the certificate, canceled the dialog that asked me to install mono, installed the client and net-7. karu [WDL]
I did some tests... BuzzStPoint
OK, folks, I got the star itch again, and decided to retry installing on Linux.. I am happy to report that EnB is up and running on my Linux client. Here's what I'm running: Kubuntu 15.10 - Installed PlayOnLinux --Tools, Manage WIne Versions --(Wine Versions X86) Tab, Install 1.9.7 (after it downloads/installs, and shows in the right pane. X out of that screen.) --Click on "Install A Program" , Then "Install a non-listed program" At the bottom. --Select "Edit or Update and existing application' -- Go through the prompts, and install some components. I installed dotnet20, crypt32, Microsoftcorefonts, Mono Then install EnB client. Install Net 7 client and update. Created shortcut for Net 7. Thats I'll I have done. Enb runs surprisingly well. There are a few image glitches but nothing too major.
BuzzStPoint
Update: Kubuntu 16.04 64bit Fresh install of the OS. Fresh Install of Wine. Ran Winecfg then closed. Then Followed my install above but.. Only installed the Dotnet20, crypt32 and MicrosoftCoreFonts. Seems with 16.04 the image glitches have gone away. Edit: Did a multi-Client test: Handles multiple clients well. I did find one major flaw though. Gating, docking, wormhole or anything that would cause a map/sector change, if you alt-tab out during this change process will freeze the client forcing you to run a kill command on the client. If you wait for each client to finish the sector/map change then you'll be just fine. Edited May 2, 2016 by BuzzStPoint

Antflyer
On mac mini. wine Version 1.8-rc4 (1.8-rc4). Do not try to use net-7 directly is a pain. Can use line commands there was a post somewhere with the source. I complied in windows and works with mac. Install net-7 but to update use command line commands: First is to update game (Net7Patcher.exe --stdout --net7 "c:\Program Files\Net-7" --client "C:\Program Files\EA GAMES\Earth & Beyond\release"), second is the launcher itself. To play net7proxy.exe /LADDRESS:0 /ADDRESS:38.130.197.232 /CLIENT:"C:\Program Files\EA GAMES\Earth & Beyond\release\client.exe" /POPT /EXREORDER /DML (or use N.bat from c:\) Net7Patcher.exe N.bat net7proxy.exe Edited January 5, 2019 by Antflyer

Make sure local ip in launcher is selected correctly if there is multiple choices.
