TS builds

Has it been considered to change one of the TS's build to Build Weapons? Currently they have build devices which is kinda redundant as the TT does build devices or build engines which is redundant to the TE. Since they are a missile user it is EXTREMELY inconvenient to rely on others for building the ammo. IMHO, all Terran and Progen classes should have Build weapons solely for the ability to self sustain their ammo. Jenguai race has no need for build weaps since beams require no ammo.

I can run through a full VAULT and Inventory load of ammo in a day of hunting then have to run back to a station where their are players and then have to find a player with the time and ammo build maps to build me another 50-60 stacks. The inconvenience and time consumption to do this is detrimental to the gameplay of both the TS's and the other players they must rely on for ammo. And the vendor ammo is good only for mapping (if you have build weapons again).

Also, another thought would be to add Build Reactors as well. Then the TS really gains alot in value with the capability to build ammo for itself and Build reactors for all (which is a build skill no terran class has).

IMHO it would bring alot more interest in continuing with a class that otherwise has little to contribute to players, to the groups they join, to their guilds, and to the game in general.

Please take some serious reconsideration on the Build Skills of the TS. With the changed Builds it could be alot more fulfilling as a supportive Terran class.

The Terran Scout should NOT have build reactor. Each race has one item that they cannot build, for the Progen it's engines, the Terrans it's Reactors, and for the Jenquai it's shields. Those are each race's respective weaknesses. If we allow the Terran Explorer to build Reactors, the PT and JT lose any build related reason to exist as every manufacturable item in game could be made by one race. The Scout would also be able to match the Seeker & Privateer on price as all 3 classes have Negotiate 5. The JT and PT both have build Reactors to give them a build area where the Terrans cannot compete. In addition the PT is restricted from building Jenquai items, while the JT is restricted from building Progen items, so each of those 2 classes are the best at building their own race's reactors.

None of the explorer classes have the abilty to build weapons or ammo outside of a few exceptions. In Live there were 2 threader machines (L8 devices) that allowed the PE to make Impact & Plasma Archos. Those rounds were non-tradeable (Threaded was added to the no trade veresion of the ammo to differientate from the tradeable ammo). The devices necessary were rewards for doing the Mars Construction Project. The JE had a similar exception with the Gaze of Amah beam. It required doing the Mars Construction Project, maxing a build skill, someone with RD faction to get one of the parts, and was also non-tradeable. If there was an L8 device for Scouts that gave Threaded Zet ammo, as a MCP reward, that would be fair IMO. Maybe one or two other types of ammo so long as the JE & PE receive similar love.

For the other ammo, it's the explorer's job to make friends with either a Trader or Warrior for their PM ammo needs. Eventually when the economy works properly they will need explorers to bring them ammo ores, for the purposes of making components needed for their ammo. Traders will also need ores for component building outside of ammo use. Some traders will have their own miners, but it may be less of a pain for them to just make a deal with an explorer (it should be significantly cheaper than ripping vendor comps, and there are some ores that shouldn't be available from ripping vendor comps).

The Scout should be compared to the other explorers when it comes to what they can do since they share the same profession. The Scout, Sentinel, and Explorer all have the Build Device skill, but of the 3 only the Scout has negotiate, and only the Scout can build from all 3 races, whereas the JE and PE have racial restrictions in thier building. The Scout being the fastest class at impulse & warp, bar none, build engines fits the nature of the class, but it is a reasonable argument that Build Engines is a less desirable 2nd build skill, than the PE's Build Shields, or the JE's Build Reactor. The PE and JE's second builds are also redundant, as the PT can build Shields, and the JT can build Reactors, both with Negotiate 5.

Now I'd agree if you argued that the Scout is lacking in combat support abilty, compared to the JE & PE and I think trading Hacking for a new and unique support skill would be nice. Would also be nice for Scout only devices to come into the game. Would make the Scout's role more clearly defined.

JW has build weapons so he can rebuild his beams if he should so choose, JT has build weapons because she's a Trader, and weapons is one of the bigger markets. Building your own ammo isn't the only reason to have Build Weapons.
