Net-7 Website: Whats in development

i tried using the char builder on the new (mostly nice net-7.org (still not likey dem buttons!)) but it doesn't seem to work ... even tried in IE8 (using Opera 10.10) but doesn't seem to do anything when i try and use it ... am i the only one having this problem ? ;(

some controls (arrows on some skills) didn't work properly, but it seems this is a javascript coding mistake/typo (didn't check). Tested with Chrome 4 here. The whole DIV layout looks wrong on 1024x768 though. It's outside of view too far to the right.

Other than that it's pretty cool.

Oh, something else clicking the titles of the News posts takes you to the forum into a "black hole".

Oh, yet again a minor issue: due to all the nice AJAX you are forced to enter Login/Signup Info again and again in case you had a typo... I would give usability bonus points if the form inputs stayed after submitting (except for maybe the password).

Other than those minor annoyances it rocks :)

EDIT: just tested with my Opera 10.10 Planner seems to work fine. Have you maybe changed a setting for JS?

Just to mention, and you may want to test this out, but the navigation links don't work with the in-game browser. So if you click on say wiki, it doesn't do anything. The only nav link that does sort of work is the news feed, but it seems to break the page, sending all the nav links into the center-top of the page in a vertical arrangement.

btw, regarding the character planner, any chance to make a txt download option for the results?

Hopefully Yes, but this requires rendoring of a 3d image on the fly...

Not something that is going to be too easy.

And i see i need to increase the space for the guild name due to a certain person having a massive guild name :(

Two things:

1. Can we add a character image to the sig?

2. A 'Keep me logged in' button would be nice.

2.'Keep Me Logged In' will not be enabled as this enables cookies, As the portal and the game account are one and the same we feel that allowing this to be saved will open your account up for hacking.

We know there are issues with the planner, some work, some dont... and sometimes the others work.

Bit bizzaire, but we thought we would leave it active so on the times where it does work, you can use it...

could you please kick that monkey who put local.net-7.org certificate to https://play.net-7.org/ site and then kick him/her even harder so maybe he/she drops certificate for www.net-7.org as passwords currently are sended in clear text.

if login on the new site is the same as our ingame account would it be posible to make some sort of char creator on the site ?

In a word no, due to the 3d rendering required for making a character, and an app being available to do this already, i see no point

I dont think many would be happy with a total random char....

1 thing more i noticed ... when i enter the site it should (imo) show news as default

I know, having issues with the Ajax calls and getting a default feed to load.

Well the char planner is a bit "wonky" and there is the issue with the 3D rendering of the avatar (which you've already gone over, just using it here as well). For some reason (it could just be me) the page is sorta off to the side. Might be my resolution but I have to scroll click and slide the page a bit to center it in my browser. As far as the rendering goes. I know it might be able to be done. I had it done with my wow pserver because I had implemented a form of Armory much like the one used in retail wow. Not sure if it'd work the same way here however. It displayed the char (just as the char looks in game), its equipment (including the item/equipments item tool tips), stats, talents, guild, arena/BG stats and Rep/Affiliations. Not to say you guys would have to go through all of these things. But I wonder if the char rendering would work the same way.

Karu's idea could also be a feasible suggestion.

Do the sigs auto update? (I know the one from WiiPicross.com does) I played last night and it did not seem too. Also when I go the net-7.org and try to change the background of my sig, it didn't change.

Edit:Yes. My sig should read 6-4-4 instead of 5-2-3.

Do a CTRL-F5 - your browser has cached your old image.

We do not auto update as the sigs are stored as images as dynamic images are not allowed on forums, and a script to update signatures for all users would be a waste of time, as not everyone uses the sig generator.

Just remember to click on the link every now and then...
