Nice find. I wonder whose site that is.

Earth and Beyond Emulator > General > Main Lobby

BTW, does anyone have a good full archive of the old ebportal forums? I know someone had a browsable mirror up in the early days of the emulator, but I think it was lost to a drive failure. Edited by Zarius

Very nice find.

Here's our old Galileo post.

Any way we can merge some of these forums with our current one?

AFAIK, that would be impossible or extremely hard to do, if done by hand (SQL).
the forum topic ids would very likely clash with each others, for example.

an export, if possible in IPB admin interface, could help. no clue if that exists.
in Drupal we have a lot of modules that can export/import content, fields, views, styles, panels, features, etc...

features is a great invention - it can import settings, content and enable modules based on the functionalities you choose for example.

That's odd. At first glance I thought it was one of ours, as it's hosted by the company we use, but ours are hosted in Europe. Maybe David would know more about this.

This also goes to a disabled board, so i wonder if this is one of our old servers that is still live somewhere, maybe an admin could try and log in to the SQL or something and run an export.

Ive seen all the old posts about the old single player, so i guess lots of the data will be on there, i think someone who had server access back then should try RDP to it :)

You can browse the forums, and can see known users, CDel, your there too :P

Interesting. That was when I was a lowly noob to the emulator staff. I didn't have crap for access back then, so I won't be able to figure out much. :)

I'm amazed they haven't recycled that by now.

the reason I say this is because this s####### is a sequential number that increments for every new account with our host, 1and1. That being said our old dev/play server that we're replacing now are:

S309xxxx and s314xxxxx (not giving the full names for obvious reasons). These servers are over a year old, which dates this one you've found as stretching to about 2006 or 2007(maybe 2008..). Sheesh. :D

the VPS/hosting should still be accessible to admins, unless they disabled that but forgot to remove the data from it (in case the service was shut down).

i've had hosting in 1and1 (single) and Godaddy (single and cloud),
VPS in Goddady and Linode,
and a dedicated server in Layered Tech

i recommend Linode. VPS.net might be a good service too.
they have very good VPS services, if not the best in the world.
available for USA and Europe (UK)

Layered Tech is a premium service with great support, but very expensive.

The boxes are all managed from our account profile at 1and1. There's no web based control panel for the machines we get for this project, they are all self-managed (to save on the expenses and all) and I don't remember the direct RDP password for an admin for that long ago I'm afraid. :D

Bout the only chance we got of referencing that is either hope it never goes down or find someone willing to copy over everything that's still useful (quite possibly the most boring job I could imagine...)

david still has an admin account on the forums, he may know them :D

Fingers crossed, Plus its an old 2.2.1 board so moving posts may have to be done manually anyway (if there is anything we want.

Slayer,

*I* still have an admin account logging in through that link, alas it seems to redirect me to the current ACP. I'll ask him to try it and see if he gets any different results than I did.

Probably the URL in the database thats causing the redirect :D

I hope someone still has RDP access to this server because that would just be awesome ...

- try manually replacing the URL.
- enforce a no-redirect.
- use local hosts to change IP address.
wouldn't work I don't think, Admin was in a different location on IPB 2.x.x. i'll give it a shot tho.

Slayer:

Given that we haven't paid for that box in that long, something in me doubts they've got it enabled for a remote RDP, and if by some chance they do, we've changed the admin box password at least twice since then.

The only thing I can say or remember about this time frame is at one time the server had a severe crash.
That wasn't totally recoverable.
Could this be some type of auto back up on a server some where? I'd like to see some of the things on there.
Some of the post I made may contain somethings I have since lost and wish to recover.

We had this forum ADMIN Ayuski or something like that, he was in charge maybe he can shed some light on it.

Oh oh EDIT, The stuff on there has all the screen shots mordana, and Cloudriders in Aquitain Ardus and NPC, Ore locations etc etc etc

That crash happened several months later. The server we're seeing here appears to have been the server we had before the one that crashed, which we must have upgraded from around the time the posts stop. Contacting Ayu is unlikely to help, he's "complicated" to work with, lol. Also, I'm not sure how much, if anything, that's really important has been lost but would still be on that server.
