Gating/Docking Hanging

Recommended Posts

On all my accounts/toons seems to be with recent push/update anytime I gate or dock, it just hangs at the Galaxy Map. No red circle indicating movement or whatever you wanna call it just a plain galaxy map and the Loading.... I have to CTL-ALT-DEL end the task and relog, which then allows me in and puts me to the place I was going. Have had several other people claiming similar issues as well.

Any thoughts?

I have had this happen to me very frequently on my VM machine running Windows XP. Outside of the VM, in Windows 7x64 I get it but about 50% less frequently compared to XP.

It's rather odd, as for me it freezes during the loading process while gating, as the red circle does appear however it just stays spinning.

Like Rojo said, one has to close the client (I run in windowed mode so I close the proxy forcing the client to dc then I just close the client normally).

Edit:

My Windows 7 machine seems to freezing a lot more today. Have about 60% chance of freezing while gating.

Some new info:

I have checked the proxy while the freeze occurs. Notice the last lines.

"Received Master login confirm, new UDP port is 1 Avatar ... etc"

Proxy.jpg

"Received Master login confirm, new UDP port is -31068 Avatar ... etc"

Proxy2.jpg

I noticed the game freezes during gating whenever the port is not the usual 3***.

Here are two screenshots of two different times when I froze during gating.

You're right, the proxy must be getting completely loony sector handoffs. Good spot. I'll draw Tienbau's attention to this thread.

thanks for your help - I found the problem (the port data you pointed out helped a lot to isolate the problem, it was very relevant) and will be restarting the server. Yes, it would cause occasional or frequent problems - it was all in the timing. Ironically, the better your ping to the server, the more likely you would be for this problem to affect you.

I added an additional safeguard in Net7Proxy before I found the root cause so it's a double fix, shouldn't happen again.

cheers,

TB

Server restarted with fix, please check & post here if the same thing happens. Or if you gate/dock a lot and it doesn't happen at all too.

Thanks for all the work Tien and I'm glad I could at least help out in some way.

*salute*

Sadly it is still happening. You posted the restart on friday.I am still getting it on Sat. If I let it finish it closes everything back to desktop--presumably a time out. Nest time I will see what port to see if I can help narrow it down.

the files did not attach-- but the udp sectors ports were 3524, 3521, 3517. I stopped at 3 screenshots-- but several of each of these was listed on serveral loggouts I got.It may be a cowinkydink-- but if it helps fix this i am for anything--I would like to do a mission or trade run even.

terastarship2 your not running more that 3 Accounts/toons at the same time are you?

The reason I ask is while you might be able to make 3 accounts your really not technically allowed to run more than 3 at one time.

At least from what I gather from the rules.

IMO if this is the case then this might be your problem.

Have you tried the Packet Optimization option in the launcher, Pentuer?

Any ideas? I'm stucked at Loki station.
My system params:

MS XP - SP 3
Intel Core 2 Duo CPU
2.1GHz
1.19GHz, 2.96GB RAM
On each partition I've got at least 1 GB free.

Thanks for your help! Edited by Pentuer

Is it just one character that's suck or does it happen for any character you have or create?

All the 3 of them act like this.

And this is still happening today? There was a problem with the server last night that did this to everyone. If so, is the log from net7proxy exactly the same as it was before? Try packet optimization and packet reordering again.

Thanks for the advice, but it still occurs. I tried twice. Waited 20 minutes after freeze.
