Poll Mission?

Recommended Posts

we have a lot of polls going on in the forums on a pretty regular basis... however, imho the magority of the players do not use the forums, so it is hard to get a good representation of thought here...

would it be possible to create a mission that is actually a poll? an npc asks you questions and you answer them and the devs collect the results? Or maybe convert a job like terminal into a poll terminal or something like that... you could even probably set a min level to take the poll or a level range...

+1

What about something easy like an incoming message comes in, if they choose to take the poll, it pops up in their mission log until they complete the poll, and once they submit their poll results, the mission completes and they get x amount of xp for completing.

I can think of a way we could rig this to happen, but it might require some server-side coding. What kind of questions would you want to see?

In thinking further about this... when you make changes pop in a question about them... or perhaps at the end of a raid it could trigger an incoming message where people could answer a few questions while it is still fresh...

so you kill the controller and once the troller dies everyone in 20k (or whatever range) gets an incoming message... just a thought if the data is useful to you... I realize a lot of polls are just mindless player banter...

Or even after a major content patch, have a mission auto-generate to have us go to a certain area (where content changed) kill certain mobs or test certain content... and after an hour or so in the area, an NPC messenger asks you for input about mob AI or whatever the focus of the change was.

Have the answers set up in a 0-5 scale:

0: no impact

1: very unfavourable

2: unfavourable

3: marginally favourable

4: favourable

5: very favourable

... or along those lines, for three or so questions (don't want to lose interest)

Reward would be 5,000 xp in all three categories for answering all questions, or nothing if the player opts out.

Also, make the messages opt-in (where a user has to go to an NPC at Net-7 station in Saturn to register for participation in the polls).

+1000

This is exactly what I meant.

Unfortunately, we cannot auto-generate missions, but we could work out a way to poll the players. It'd definitely be a jury-rig kind of system, hacked together, but I think it could be done. What we would have to do though, is set a mission on a station NPC (we could make one for this purpose) that asks you questions. Each question might have to be a separate dialog with the NPC though. (as I said, this would be a real dirty hack)

Just to add a different opinion.

There's no something like a "center message" on screen (not on the chat screen) by the GMs like in almost any other game like this? They do that for events, for example.

You guys can start by simply inviting the players to important polls or something. If there's no result, try the hard path...
