Instanced Guild Lairs

Recommended Posts

We've heard before that building a guild vault (in the sense of a client modification that would allow people to shift items between toons without using a second account or beg someone to stop what they were doing so you can reshuffle your gear) is pretty much impossible.

I'd like to see if an "instanced lair" could be set up as both a moneysink and something that a guild could do together.

Here's the idea:

The Astra Building Corporation (a subsidiary of GETCo) is now offering to build small stations for groups of people (i.e. in game guilds) willing to pay the price.

An ABC (ha!) executive will be available on Friendship-7 to discuss building plans and sector locations. Te ABC exec might be bartered down if he is offered several dozen stacks of L7-L9 ores he thinks he might need (randomly determined? )

The building plans would be limited to existing assets such as appropriate for the territory the lairs are found in throughout the game universe;

The access points to the instances would be in some frequently traveled and some somewhat out-of-the-way areas with lots of room, such as:

- Inverness (exterior: Chavez Mining Station / interior: Somerled)

- Varen's Girdle (exterior: Belter Lair ::example is in Vishao's Cove:: / interior: Trader's Fort)

- Yokan (exterior/interior: Jenquai Disco station)

- Odin's Belt (exterior: Belter Lair / interior: Trader's Fort)

- Lagarto (exterior: PAX Remar / interior: standard Progen base layout)

- Shepherd (Carved Rock Lair ::example is abandoned lair in Isshuan:: / interior: F-7 Casino)

A guild may only buy and maintain one lair at a time, and are keyed to a guild membership.

The initial one-time building cost could range from several hundred million to a few billion credits, depending upon the amenities inside the lair:

- Number and level of vendor-only parts vendors (stuff like Warlock or K3 parts, for example)

- Type and number of terminals (analyze, refine, and build terminals)

- Ship and Avatar modification terminals

And of course, the part we've been waiting for: Guild Vendors.

Guild vendors would be NPCs that you could "sell" items and equipment to (for either 0 credits or 1 credit each, dependent upon game mechanics) or "buy" the items from, with no limitation on unique items to the vendor (non-tradeable items would not be accepted, as is the case with all vendors)

These vendors would take the guise of weapons, equipment, and gemstone vendors (for raw/refined ores) and a special vendor for comps (in the guise of a mixed-level comps vendor).

The access points themselves would have non-descript names (since they would be shared by many different guilds, such as "Guild Lair" and would have a only landing button, no registration button (registration would not change from last registered base, since the docking would be instanced)

In other words:

Guild A, B, and C chose to make their guild lair at Yokan (because they particularly like having a disco).

Members from all these guilds would "dock" at the Yokan Guild Lair, but members of each guild would dock, and only see their respective guildmates inside the Lair instance, with that guild's unique arrangement of vendors and vault NPCs as described above.

Normal repairs and docking would take place, and the message would be defaulted to the guild MOTD, with a slash command to change it to something other than the normal MOTD.

... think that might fly? :)

Not excited about a guild lair, but then again I not planning of joining a 100-player guild.

PS: no offense meant but you type too much

You have offended Seekers honor.. you must now battle him in the Jenqui Dance Club @ Joves.

There will be three rounds and we request keeping your clothes on

I like the idea, but it would take extensive coding to accomplish. We probably have to wait until we get all the standard stuff (from live) in the game and working before we can tackle an add-on of this complexity.

kinda reminds me of CoH or Wow... in both of those games I would make guilds with buddies, then everyone would leave the guild and I would make a L0 alt guild leader and have free vaults/bases... so on that level... that might become a consideration if we want every last person on the server having their own personal lair...

/edit oh btw in Wow I had 6 guilds (most of which I was given for free as they were failed guilds and the last person didnt know the disband command so they would look for someone to give it to... and in coh i had 3 (one for each account)

We can always put a guild member minimum on it, and it would cost way more than any single player, or small group of players could afford.

it's not *hard* to add, it's just a lot of work that's all. You'd be surprised at how much infrastructure coding something like that would need.

That being said, I like it. If I haven't completely lost my sanity by the time we get a bit more complete, Adding touches like this would be good. Maybe owning bases would give a bonus to something in that area perhaps too?

How about once a guild base is established, you can then build and maintain a guild gate, built between two sectors of the guild's choice?

Perhaps a guild lair can be related to PvP somehow...

Instanced guild vs guild combat in a pvp sector cut off from the rest of the server?

Would need to make sure you have same numbers of players on each side...

I like how you got rated negatively immediately for mentioning PvP.

I like how you got rated negatively immediately for mentioning that someone got rated negatively immediately for mentioning PvP. :)

Yeah Somerled and Fenris would be a great gate, bot of which are of course right next to the stations, better, a gate on Somerled and step through to the Fenris station!
