alys Posted August 30, 2025 Report Posted August 30, 2025 Hi, Could you (GMs) please clarify why my OL 84 character was removed from the Paramis sector? I understand the reasoning behind preventing high-level players from camping triggers, but in this case it was an alt I’m still leveling and not a toon that could realistically take on GoBB or the Controller. I’d really appreciate if the GM team could elaborate a bit more on the decision so I can better understand the rules and avoid issues in the future. Thanks in advance. 1 Quote
Yeti [GM] Posted August 30, 2025 Report Posted August 30, 2025 Hi, The reason is that the command that is used to clear a sector encompases ALL avatars in the sector but not docked in a station. We do not have the time to check each and every players avatars levels. Note that some players are using low end avatars to camp spawn points, that is why we move all. We apologise for the inconvinience, however a solution is to park either side of a gate in a sector that contains no camped/raid spawns or dock at the nearest station. Quote
alys Posted August 31, 2025 Author Report Posted August 31, 2025 Thank you for clarifying. I understand that it isn’t possible to check every avatar individually in a sector but it still feels unfortunate that those leveling legitimately are treated the same as those intentionally camping. But now I know and I’ll stay out of Paramis/BBW until the toon is above +2k RD faction which makes docking and gating feasible. Quote
Overtkill Posted August 31, 2025 Report Posted August 31, 2025 I take difference to this practice. Some of us park groups of toons in places like Cooper, Varen's, Lagarto, and more, just trying to level newer characters. It takes some work to stage everything and getting them out there.. Additionally, there are hardly enough players on to camp a lot of contested stuff, especially from what I have seen around the sectors on the weekends. I'd argue at this point, force docking players is heavy handed and needs to stop. 1 Quote
Woodstock HGM [HGM] Posted August 31, 2025 Report Posted August 31, 2025 WE have been moving toons out sectors where there are raids or boss mobs , because some players have been placing low level toons in the sector to be on watch for the raid triggers or bosses. This particular practice has been giving players an unfair advantage to their guild or friends who want to get the raid trigger or bosses before any one else can get there to try and complete a raid or kill the boss. When these players kill the triggers it basically steals the raid or kill the bosses from others who want to do the raid or kill the boss. In some cases the trigger killer will log in kill the trigger and log back out thus not allowing anyone else to legally do the raid. So when we move the offline toons from a raid or boss sector it is to level the playing field, we have banned playeers in the past for this practice. Quote
Spa[IS] Posted September 1, 2025 Report Posted September 1, 2025 Online Woodie not Offline, sniggers... Quote
Woodstock HGM [HGM] Posted September 1, 2025 Report Posted September 1, 2025 offline is correct if the toons offline in those sectors we move them to net-7 sol station. there was one incident where I was in secotr moving the offline toons between the time I started typing the command and pressing enter a group came in to the sector and got caught up in the action as the command does not differentiate between online or offline toons. that was my fault not looking to see if anyone popped in before I hit enter. also all raid trigger and boss kills are logged. so we can also track whos is killing them. Spa[IS] Posted September 2, 2025 Report Posted September 2, 2025 Ok, didn't know you could see what sector someone has logged out off. Quote
Overtkill Posted September 2, 2025 Report Posted September 2, 2025 I had a rebuttal all typed up, complete with some philosophy in best practices learned over decades of working (as a career) in games, administering networks, etc. But I feel like no one here gives a shit about any of it. Apathy is thick here. So all I will say is try not to squish players banging about with the GM-hammer fits all method. Try treading lightly by directing attention to the issue or problem person/individual, and not to the other players. Being invisible 80% of the time in practice. Inconveniencing everyone else because of one or a few bad apples, will cost you players. It conveys that you really don't care about the time everyone has involved in game. In my case, about 1.5 hours involved every time you decide to force dock my group toons logged out in the boonies of many sectors (VG, Cooper, Antares, Lagarto). I have been so put off by this that I have simply logged out and left the game for a long duration from these frustrations. Consider what you do to others in game wielding that stick. Without players, there is no game. And from what I see, we've been circling the drain here for many years. 2 1 Quote
Opti Posted September 5, 2025 Report Posted September 5, 2025 This is going on all over the game though, not just paramis/bbw. And since the offending party was banned this hasn't been an issue. So please stop going sector by sector and moving everyone's logged out toons to net-7. Enough is enough. If someone starts killing triggers it will be reported, and you can hide a GM toon there and catch the prick. Constantly moving everyone to net-7 just feels like griefing by the GM staff. We'd all like to think that is not what is going on, but it sure feels that way. So as Overtkill said, "Try treading lightly". We shouldn't feel like we're being F'd with on a daily basis. There are few enough people left, maybe try not to run them off. That being said, thanks for all you guys do to help us out every day. Many things wouldn't be possible without GM intervention and assistance. I hate to say anything negative, but it's getting to be a bit much. Quote
Codemonkeyx Posted September 5, 2025 Report Posted September 5, 2025 Yeah I also agree with everything @Overtkill said. The only people camping triggers lately are those doing the raids legitimately and the triggers are typically sitting for days on end now. The problem seems to have been dealt with and the beatings need not continue any longer. There is a huge difference between checking to see if a trigger is up because your guild is going to do it legitimately vs. logging in, killing the trigger, and logging out, or botting to kill a trigger and deny others from doing it. 1 Quote
Thrax Posted September 5, 2025 Report Posted September 5, 2025 The Triggers are just sitting there for days on end so please no one is camping the triggers just let everyone stay in the sectors. It's also less work for you guys. 1 Quote
